Chapter 83: Pajama Party Plans
Chapter 83: Pajama Party Plans
As his father reached the door, he suddenly paused, as if remembering something, and turned back.
"Rocco, from today onward, the main house will be your home."
"Huh? Oh, uh, yes—... Wait, what?"
The sound of light, purposeful footsteps faded away as his father and the bespectacled man walked off.
Rocco stood frozen, his brain struggling to process what had just been said.
The statement had been so casual, so offhand, that Rocco reflexively nodded and acknowledged it without thinking.
But a moment later, something felt off.
Tilting his head, he replayed the words in his mind.
When their meaning finally sank in, his face went pale.
"W-what did he just say?!"
Dropping to his knees in disbelief, Rocco groaned. "That was totally the main point all along!"
...
In the vast and expansive room, Rocco lay sprawled out as if lifeless, an hour already gone by.
Left entirely alone, confined to the headquarters of a mafia family, he had come to a sobering realization.
He was just a spoiled kid who couldn’t do anything on his own.
How had he managed to make his endless monotone life bearable before?
It was now painfully clear how much he had relied on the members stationed at the annex and, above all, on Ragar and Georgio.
Without Ragar to take him on walks or play ball, and without Georgio to inject excitement with his reckless antics, the silence felt oppressive.
And his fluffy, adorable dog Laxus was nowhere to be found either...
Rocco knew better than anyone how painful and lonely it was to be by oneself.
Yet, in the happiness of the life he had been leading until now, he’d nearly forgotten the desolation of those solitary days in the hospital.
"...I miss you, Ragar... Georgio..."
What was he supposed to do, stuck here alone in the middle of enemy territory?
The most he could manage was to hug Mr. Bunny tightly and burrow under the bedcovers, trembling.
It was only his first day living in the main house, but he was already homesick for the annex and on the verge of tears.
If only he could bring everyone from the annex here to the main house.
However, even within the Di Malvento family, there was a clear division between the main house and the annex, making such a move unlikely.
Even so... just Ragar and Georgio, at least...
As Rocco began to entertain this small, selfish wish, a faint sound interrupted his thoughts.
From the curtained window, he heard a soft thunk, as though something had lightly struck the glass.
"...? What was that?"
Perhaps a bird had flown into the window?
Tilting his head curiously, Rocco hugged Mr. Bunny tightly and cautiously approached the window.
Althrough the curtain, he could make out a shadow, and though his heart raced with apprehension, he mustered his courage and yanked the curtain open with a swift motion.
"Eek! ...Wait, what?!"
For a moment, Rocco’s heart nearly stopped at the sight of a large shadow looming against the window.
Tears threatened to spill from the sheer terror of the unexpected sight.
However, before panic could fully set in, he registered the identities of the figures outside and stared in wide-eyed disbelief.
Perched skillfully on the window frame, clinging with ease, were two familiar faces—Ragar and Georgio.
The very people he’d just been wishing to see, his beloved family.
"—Finally found you! Geez, you didn’t come back at all, so we came to get you!"
"—Young Master, I am relieved to see you safe...!"
Overwhelmed with emotion, Rocco fought back the tears as he hurriedly opened the window, ushering the two inside.
In the process, it dawned on him that this was the third floor.
How on earth had they managed to climb up here?
The thought was unsettling, but he decided to ignore it, letting himself be swept up in the joy of their reunion.
"Ragar! Georgio! I missed you so much!"
With tears streaming down his face, Rocco threw himself into their arms, and the two of them immediately embraced him tightly, their strength nearly crushing.
The warmth of their affection spread through Rocco’s entire body, and a wave of relief softened his tense muscles.
Savoring their comforting presence, he let out quiet sobs, tears spilling freely.
He had resolved just moments ago not to indulge in selfish whims, but with these two, the walls of restraint crumbled effortlessly.
Ragar and Georgio were among the few people he could rely on without hesitation, and his long-suppressed emotions bubbled to the surface.
"You’re late, you idiots...! I—I was so lonely!"
Blubbering loudly, Rocco poured out his heart with tears.
Far from looking annoyed or disappointed, Ragar and Georgio’s expressions softened with concern.
They tightened their embrace even further, enveloping him in warmth.
"Master, do you hugging this rabbit while crying? That’s the cutest thing ever! But why a rabbit? I don’t get it, but it’s adorable anyway!"
Georgio’s boisterous voice rang out as he rubbed his cheek against Rocco’s.
The sudden affection sent Rocco spinning, overwhelmed by Georgio’s carefree energy.
Georgio was as wild and impulsive as ever, his bold actions always enough to make Rocco’s heart race.
Yet, despite the constant thrill, it was Georgio who often brought color to Rocco’s monotonous days.
Now, more than ever, Rocco realized just how much he appreciated Georgio.
He’d loved him as family from the very beginning, but this moment deepened that bond even further.
"Georgio, Georgio."
"Hm? What’s up?"
"Thank you for everything. I love you."
When Rocco smiled warmly, Georgio froze, his expression blank for a moment before his face turned bright red.
Concerned, Rocco glanced over at Ragar, wondering if it was too hot in the room, but Ragar showed no signs of discomfort.
Could it be a fever?
Worried, Rocco leaned in and pressed his forehead gently against Georgio’s.
"Hmm... Nope! No fever. Good, good."
Georgio’s face remained red, mere millimeters away, but Rocco reasoned it might be from the effort of climbing up to the third floor.
