Chapter 76: True Desire

As the massive python surged forward, its overwhelming spiritual energy pressure filled the air.

Formed entirely from Nethersoul Poison, it radiated a deadly aura.

Given the difference in cultivation levels, this attack alone could either severely injure everyone present or outright kill them.

Huang Bei struggled to stand, but the emerald poison coursing through his body sent sharp waves of pain through him.

Since Lin Feng’s treatment was still incomplete, he himself hadn’t been treated yet and so his body was weak—however even at full strength, he wouldn’t have been able to stop this attack, let alone now.

Chen Mei’s gaze swept the battlefield, her eyes narrowing as she saw Old Chen tending to Lin Feng while Huang Bei, despite his injuries, forced himself to stand up.

Rage flared within her as she laughed—a laughter filled with anger—before shouting, "Do you really not put me in your eyes, Chen Yang? Are you blind or just ignorant?!"

Chen Mei extended her hands, unleashing a thick, oppressive aura as her Nethersoul Emperor Poison surged forth.

It twisted into a massive, gaping maw, its jagged edges shifting like countless fangs.

The stark contrast between its toxic purple and white glow created a nightmarish sight, sending shivers down the spines of all who watched.

The monstrous mouth let out a guttural hiss as a venomous mist churned within, while slithering tendrils corroded the air, distorting space itself.

A suffocating pressure spread outward, as if an abyssal beast had awakened.

Those nearby felt a sharp pain in their souls, their instincts screaming at them to flee.

Nethersoul Emperor Arts: Nethersoul Dreadmaw

Yan Hao and Yan Li were the first to react, screaming in terror, "Wha—Wha—What the hell is that monster?!?!"

Huang Bei, his pupils narrowed into pinpricks, took a deep breath to steady his voice.

"Elemental-type Heaven’s Pacts can morph into anything the user desires.

While it’s weaker than the beast manifestation of beast-type users, its versatility has its advantages.

The Young Miss, in particular, likes to shape her Nethersoul Emperor Poison into these monstrous forms."

Lin Feng’s eyes widened in shock.

He had never seen anything like this before—just looking at it made him feel as if his soul was about to be consumed.

Chen Mei’s eyes burned with fury as she shouted, her voice echoing through the air.

The colossal, nightmarish maw pulsed ominously, stretching wider as if it had no limits.

Instead of clashing with Chen Yang’s Nethersoul Python, the writhing tendrils inside the monstrous mouth suddenly lashed out.

They struck with terrifying speed, piercing into the spectral serpent’s body before it could even resist.

Chen Yang’s eyes widened in panic as he watched his attack being devoured whole.

His voice cracked with desperation as he screamed, "You damn monster! Why do you always use such hideous beasts?!"

Frantically, he poured more spiritual energy into his attack.

Nethersoul Poison seeped into the air, strengthening the python as it grew larger, thrashing wildly in an attempt to escape the colossal maw closing in around it.

But Chen Mei remained unfazed. Instead, she smiled enigmatically, her voice calm yet chilling.

"I’ve always been a monster. Didn’t you already know that, Chen Yang?"

Lin Feng, still being treated by Chen Li, found himself breathing heavily as he watched the clash unfold.

His mind raced with countless thoughts, but they all echoed the same thing—

I’m still too weak. If either of those attacks hit me, I wouldn’t even be able to fight back—I’d just die in agony.

Feng thought to himself as he clenched his fist, as all of the remaining arrogance left within him started to disappear now being replaced with a powerful resolve, a desire to become stronger

The system, the Blackwood Ruler, even Old Chen—right now, all of them are giving me a chance, an opportunity to turn my life around.

This is the world I live in, a world filled with countless geniuses in cultivation.

But who among them truly remains and becomes an absolute powerhouse?

Whose name is sung through the ages?

It will be me!! I will have my name ring through the ages!!

I will become someone no one dares to offend!!

Feng’s eyes shone with an almost maddening desire.

Even he didn’t fully understand why he wanted to become strong.

Maybe it was because he knew what it was like to be weak.

Maybe he refused to be just a side character in someone else’s story.

Or maybe, it was simply his ego.

The system gave him the power to steal Heaven’s Pacts and absorb spiritual energy.

If he didn’t become powerful even with all of this...

Then I don’t even deserve to think about changing the heavens, Feng thought, his gaze burning with a maddening desire to tear everything down.

His eyes spat fire as he looked up at the sky.

One day, I will have the strength to change everything!

One day, no one will be known as a Broken Soul!!

Feng had finally voiced his true thoughts—this was his ultimate goal.

If he ever became an absolute powerhouse, he would make sure no one else suffered as he had.

No one would endure what Old Chen and others like them had gone through.

He wanted everyone to have the chance to cultivate, the chance to change their fate.

Though it felt as if an eternity had passed, only a few seconds had gone by since Chen Yang unleashed his Nethersoul Python upon Lin Feng and the others—and Chen Mei rushed to defend them, her Nethersoul Dreadmaw surging forward, its jagged maw stretching unnaturally wide in a display of overwhelming ferocity.

The air trembled with the clash of their techniques, waves of spiritual energy colliding in a violent storm.

The python writhed and hissed, its dark scales shimmering with malevolent energy as it coiled around the Dreadmaw, struggling to crush it.

Yet, despite its desperate efforts, Chen Mei’s beast refused to relent.

"AHHHH, DAMN IT!!!" Chen Yang screamed, his voice raw with frustration as his spiritual energy began to run out. Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, and his hands trembled from the strain of maintaining his technique.

The moment his ability to reinforce the Nethersoul Python weakened, Chen Mei’s Dreadmaw struck with brutal precision. Its gaping jaws stretched even wider, a chilling roar echoing through the battlefield as it lunged.

With terrifying swiftness, the python was swallowed whole, its massive form thrashing helplessly as the Dreadmaw’s fangs pierced through it.

In an instant, the serpent dissolved into nothingness, consumed by the overwhelming power of Chen Mei’s technique.

The grotesque maw snapped shut with a sickening crunch—Chen Yang’s Nethersoul Python had been overpowered and utterly destroyed, leaving him staggering backward in disbelief.
