Heavenly Rebellion: The Human Race's Rise to Prominence -
Chapter 38: Enlightenment
Chapter 38: Enlightenment
When Feng crashed into the ground, pain spread throughout his body, and a bit of blood seeped out of his mouth.
Although the injury looked severe, compared to before he went through his transformation, it was clearly a lot less brutal than it appeared.
"Crap, that hurt, but not as much as I thought it would." Feng tried to stand up, but the Black Blood Komodo Dragon quickly took advantage of his moment of weakness.
It attempted to spray more acid toward his face.
This time, the acid looked slightly different from before—the Black Blood Komodo Dragon had realized its previous attack was ineffective, so it channeled more of its spiritual energy into this one, hoping to deal a serious injury to Feng.
Feng also realized that the Black Acid coming straight for his face was more powerful than before.
Even before it touched his skin, he could feel the heat radiating toward him, making him feel like it would definitely be a problem if he got hit by it.
"I need to dodge!" Feng quickly forced himself to move.
He gathered spiritual energy in his claws and executed a swift swipe at the Black Acid.
Claw-shaped marks appeared and clashed with the acid, partially melting it away.
However, the remaining acid still surged toward him.
Seizing the opportunity, Feng quickly ducked.
Spiritual energy surged through his right claw, filling it with darksilver spiritual energy as he thrust it straight toward the Black Blood Komodo Dragon’s face.
Blackwood Dominance Art: WOLF BANE!
Feng’s claw doubled in size, radiating an overwhelming power.
Not only did it release an intense surge of spiritual energy pressure, but it also carried a trace of the dominance that his attacks had been missing before.
However, what truly made this attack special was Feng’s murderous intent, filing the attack and making it much more powerful than before.
Ever since his escape from Raincloud Village, he had been relentlessly pursued and forced into life-and-death situations.
From his first kill—Ren—to his encounter with the Blackwood Ruler, Feng had been thrust into battle after battle.
While he still lacked experience in prolonged life-and-death struggles, the system’s ability to soothe his emotions in combat allowed him to display an uncanny talent for fighting.
This meant that most of the enemies Feng had faced so far had perished by his own hands.
As a result, he had become intimately familiar with the killing aura possessed by even the most seasoned warriors.
And at this moment—during the final attack he launched at the Black Blood Komodo Dragon—he experienced a moment of enlightenment.
"I don’t have to be a leader like the Blackwood Ruler. I don’t need to be the strongest to intimidate my enemies. I don’t need to lead the pack.
My way of dominance will be through sheer murderous intent. If you treat me with respect, then I will treat you with respect. But if you dare harm me, I will kill you a thousand times over!"
The moment Feng realized this, his Wolf Bane suddenly surged with even greater power.
It felt as if it could pierce through any obstacle, tear apart any enemy.
But more importantly, Feng himself changed.
The darksilver spiritual aura surrounding his body transformed.
No longer was it merely imitating the dominance of the Blackwood Ruler—it had become his own form of dominance.
He would not inspire fear through raw strength or cultivation base.
He would do it through murder.
BOOM!
Feng’s right claw smashed into the Black Blood Komodo Dragon’s face, causing it to explode.
Black blood and shredded flesh splattered across the surroundings, marking the death of the spiritual beast.
"Hah... Hah... Hah..." Feng panted for breath as his integration with his Heaven’s Pact dissolved.
Though his integration had made the battle seem far easier than it truly was, the consumption of spiritual energy had been immense.
The reason he had forced the fight to end so abruptly was simple—he had realized that if the battle had lasted even a few minutes longer, his integration would have been forcefully broken.
His current cultivation base simply couldn’t sustain the transformation any longer.
[The host’s fifth-level cultivation base cannot support the spiritual energy consumption of his Heaven’s Pact integration. The system suggests that the host quickly break through to the seventh level of Qi Condensation.]
"Yeah, I noticed. Still, I’ve got a rough estimate of my strength now.
With my first-level Blackwood Ruler Physique and the Blackwood Dominance Art—especially now that I have a basic grasp of the Alpha Wolf’s Domain—even without my Heaven’s Pact transformation, I can definitely fight someone at the seventh level of Qi Condensation.
If I integrate, I could take on someone at the eighth level. And if I push hard enough, I might even be able to hold my own against someone at the ninth level for a while.
That level of power is pretty absurd for someone still at the fifth level of Qi Condensation."
[Due to the host’s improved cultivation technique, the host is currently at the peak of the 5th level of Qi Condensation.]
"What? Seriously? But I haven’t even absorbed any spiritual energy from people with Heaven’s Pacts, right?" Feng responded.
[The system encourages the rapid growth of its host by streamlining the flow of spiritual energy in the body.]
"Eh? Does that mean you can increase my talent?" Feng’s face showed shock as he processed the system’s statement.
From what Feng knew, "talent" meant that a gifted person could cultivate in half the time and absorb far more spiritual energy from their surroundings than an average person.
If the system could indeed enhance his talent, it would drastically speed up his cultivation progress. Did that mean the system could help him in that way too?
[Negative, the system only ensures that 100% of all spiritual energy the host absorbs is retained within the body, counteracting the issue of low spiritual energy absorption talent.]
"Oh, makes sense." Feng shook his head, but despite this, he still felt a sense of happiness.
The System truly made him felt like he was blessed, probably to make up for the years of torment he faced as a broken soul.
