Chapter 145: End Of The Conflict
"Chen Qing! Do you really think I don’t dare fight you?!" Wei Sheng roared, his fists clenched as veins bulged on his forehead.
His eyes burned with fury, his entire body radiating killing intent.
Watching Chen Qing poison Wei Rong right in front of him was an open slap to his authority, and he struggled to hold himself back.
Chen Qing sneered at his outburst, crossing her arms.
"Who cares if you dare? We both know who’ll be in a worse position if you fight me here."
Her tone was laced with mockery, as if the idea of him challenging her was nothing more than a joke.
Wei Sheng gritted his teeth even harder.
As much as he hated to admit it, she was right.
The Wei Clan was currently aligning itself with the Church of Heaven, a powerful yet domineering force.
Their so-called allies didn’t tolerate weakness, and any sign of instability could put his entire clan at risk.
The Church of Heaven did not deal with others as equals—it was submit or be discarded.
And if they suspected the Wei Clan was losing control, the consequences would be dire.
Wei Sheng’s rage simmered, but he knew he couldn’t act recklessly.
His hands tightened into fists before slowly loosening.
As much as he wanted to strike, now was not the time.
Wei Sheng, not wanting to escalate the conflict further, glanced at Wei Rong’s condition.
Rage simmered within him, but after a few moments of restraint, he took a deep breath and looked back at Chen Qing before speaking in a rough voice.
"All right, let’s end this here, Chen Qing. Even though I have my own problems to deal with, that doesn’t mean you can just push me around."
If worse comes to worst, I’ll find a way to forcefully end the agreement with the church before coming back to fight you again!" Wei Sheng spat through gritted teeth.
Chen Qing, knowing he couldn’t be pushed too far either, chuckled softly before raising her hand.
The purple blotches covering Wei Rong’s body began to fade, slowly disappearing completely after a few seconds.
"Fine," Chen Qing said with a smirk, crossing her arms.
"Even though you’re a stubborn lizard, I know you still have some decency left in you. I doubt even you would stoop so low as to send Foundation Establishment cultivators after a mere Qi Condensation child... unless, of course, you have no shame, Wei Sheng?" Her voice carried a mocking lilt, her sharp eyes gleaming with amusement.
Wei Sheng’s expression darkened, his fists clenching at her provocation.
"Hmph! As if I have time to micromanage every cultivator chasing after that brat."
"If a Foundation Establishment expert wants an easy payday, what’s stopping them from taking the bounty? His head is the fastest way to wealth!" His voice was laced with irritation, but a hint of frustration flickered in his eyes.
With that, he took Wei Jun with him and ascended into the sky.
His voice boomed across the battlefield.
"Wei Clan cultivators, this fight ends here! All Qi Condensation disciples, return to the clan estate immediately and bring Wei Rong with you! Foundation Establishment cultivators, follow me—we have important matters to discuss!"
"Yes, sir!" The Wei Clan cultivators responded in unison, quickly dispersing.
Some sneaked cautious glances at Lin Feng, while others spared a look at Chen Mei, hidden desire in their eyes.
But none dared to so much as glance at Chen Qing.
The memory of Wei Rong writhing in agony from the Nethersoul Poison was fresh in their minds—none of them wanted to take the risk of provoking her wrath.
Once the crowd had fully dispersed, Chen Mei, who had been sitting beside Lin Feng to ensure nothing bad happened to him, looked up as her grandmother, Chen Qing, approached alongside the massive Frostvenom Python.
"Grandma, is he going to be okay?" Chen Mei asked, worry etched across her face.
It was clear this question had been weighing on her for a while.
Chen Qing, seeing the deep concern in her granddaughter’s eyes, felt another headache coming on.
She quickly realized that whatever this girl felt for Lin Feng ran far deeper than she had expected.
"Aigh, this child Lin Feng is one lucky brat..."
Chen Qing sighed inwardly, shaking her head at the troublesome situation before stepping forward.
In an instant, her figure flickered and vanished like a wisp of smoke, reappearing behind Lin Feng’s body with seamless ease.
Without hesitation, she reached into her bag of holding and retrieved a finely carved wooden box.
As soon as she opened it, a rich, earthy fragrance wafted into the air—a mix of rare medicinal herbs and aged sandalwood that carried a calming effect.
"I might not be as skilled as Chen Lin when it comes to this," Chen Qing murmured, her tone even yet firm.
"But at the very least, I can make sure this child doesn’t die."
Inside the box, nestled in a silk-lined compartment, lay a set of thin, gleaming acupuncture needles.
Each one was meticulously crafted, their polished silver tips reflecting the dim light.
Chen Mei’s breath hitched. Her grandmother had actually taken out her acupuncture tools! That alone spoke volumes.
It was common knowledge that before Chen Lin had risen to fame as Silverpine City’s most revered medical practitioner, the person who had held that prestigious title for decades had been none other than Chen Qing herself.
"Grandma Qing, are you going to perform acupuncture on Lin Feng?" Chen Mei asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
She leaned in slightly, her hands clenched into small fists as she watched her grandmother with wide, hopeful eyes.
It was clear she wanted nothing more than for Chen Qing to help Lin Feng as much as possible.
Chen Qing, seeing the deep concern on her granddaughter’s face, let out a long sigh.
This girl...
A flicker of reluctance crossed her expression before she scowled, waving a hand dismissively.
"Bah! You little girl, the only reason I’m helping this child is because of you!" she huffed.
"Don’t get any strange ideas!"
