Chapter 46: Climb The Bed... Uhh Sleeping Bag? (I / R18)

Chapter 46: Climb The Bed... Uhh Sleeping Bag? (I / R18)

The thought had crossed his mind plenty of times.

Sure, they had food, water, and shelter, but survival wasn’t the same as escaping. There was no telling when — or if — help would come.

And although it was weird staying on the island, if there weren’t any wild animals lurking. It wouldn’t be half bad to stay here at all.

So he didn’t have a proper answer.

Maya nudged him with her elbow. "Don’t get all broody on me now."

Lucas smirked. "Broody?"

"Yeah. You’ve got that serious face again."

"Maybe I’m just appreciating your taste in shells."

Maya rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure. Now you care."

Lucas placed the shell back with the others and leaned back on his hands. "Alright, I’ll admit it. This is actually kinda cool."

Maya beamed. "See? I knew you’d come around!"

Lucas shook his head but didn’t argue.

For a moment, they sat there in comfortable silence, listening to the waves and the distant laughter of their classmates.

Eventually, Maya turned to him, resting her chin on her knee. "So... what about you?"

Lucas raised an eyebrow. "What about me?"

"You’ve been busy with the guys all day. What’ve you been up to?"

But he just shrugged. "Not much. Just trying to keep up."

Maya narrowed her eyes slightly, like she didn’t quite believe him.

Before she could push the topic, a loud voice interrupted them.

"Hey, Lucas! Maya! You guys joining or what?"

They both turned toward the shore, where Leo was waving at them, his feet already half-buried in the wet sand.

Maya smirked. "Guess that’s our cue."

Lucas sighed. "Do I have to?"

"Yes." She stood up and grabbed his wrist again, pulling him up with surprising strength. "C’mon, we’ll call it a bonding experience."

Lucas rolled his eyes but let himself be dragged along.

...

Lucas exhaled deeply as he made his way toward his tent, his body weighed down with exhaustion.

The day had been long — physically demanding and mentally draining.

His muscles ached from well... everything?

The last thing he wanted was to sit through dinner, surrounded by noisy conversations and the clatter of wooden bowls.

Just sleep. That was all he needed.

But as he neared his tent, he noticed a familiar figure standing just outside it.

Mia.

She was facing him, her arms folded over her chest, and her lips pressed together, as if she was hesitating to say something.

The flickering torchlight from the nearby camp made her hair shimmer, casting delicate shadows across her face.

Her body was tense, her weight shifting from one foot to the other, but it was her expression that caught his attention the most.

Uncertainty. Maybe even nervousness.

Lucas inhaled slowly.

He had been preparing for this — activating the System entirely meant taking that final step with her, sealing the bond completely.

But now, standing before her, he realized something was different.

His gaze flicked above her head, where her System stats hovered.

[Lust: 45.]

His brows furrowed.

It had been much higher before — 90 something, if he recalled correctly.

Had something changed? Did she... relieve herself while he was away?

A strange frustration settled in his chest. He wasn’t sure why it mattered, but it did.

Mia took a small step forward, her voice barely above a whisper. "Lucas..."

He met her gaze. "Yeah?"

She hesitated, her fingers gripping the hem of her shirt. "I was waiting for you."

His heart beat a little faster, though his expression remained unreadable. "Why?"

She bit her lip. "I... I don’t know."

Lucas wasn’t sure if that was true.

The way she looked at him, the way she lingered, the way she shifted on her feet — it was like she was caught between wanting to run away and wanting to step closer.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice lower now.

Mia nodded quickly. "Yeah, just... today was a lot."

He could understand that.

A gust of wind rolled through the camp, making Mia shiver slightly.

She was still in her usual attire, but the night air had cooled significantly.

Lucas sighed. "You’re cold."

She blinked up at him. "I — no, I’m fine."

"You’re shivering."

He stepped past her, pulling back the flap of his tent. "Come inside."

Mia hesitated only a moment before following him.

Inside, the tent was dimly lit by the faint glow of a makeshift lantern.

It wasn’t much, just a small enclosed space with his sleeping mat and a few personal items scattered around.

Mia sat down first, hugging her knees to her chest. Lucas sat across from her, resting his arms on his knees.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

The distant sound of laughter from the others near the fire reached them, but inside the tent, it felt like they were in their own separate world.

Mia exhaled softly. "Lucas... do you think we’ll be stuck here forever?"

He looked at her, surprised by the question.

"I mean..." she continued, staring at the fabric of the tent. "We’ve built shelters, we have food, we’re surviving. But what if that’s all we ever do? Survive?"

Lucas studied her for a moment before answering. "No. We’ll find a way out."

Even if he wanted to stay... he couldn’t force it on her.

Mia let out a breath that was almost a laugh. "You sound so sure."

He smirked slightly. "I am."

She lifted her head, her eyes searching his face. "How?"

Lucas shrugged. "Because I refuse to believe this is all there is."

Mia stared at him for a moment before smiling softly. "That’s kind of comforting."

He raised an eyebrow. "Kind of?"

She let out a small laugh. "Okay, really comforting."

Mia reached out suddenly, her fingers brushing against his hand. It was a light touch, barely there, but Lucas felt it as if it were a shock to his system.

His eyes flickered up to hers.

Mia swallowed, her lips parting slightly. "Lucas..."

His breathing slowed.

Lucas didn’t hesitate.

As soon as Mia whispered his name, he pulled her into his arms, closing the distance between them in an instant.

His lips crashed against hers, the sudden intensity making her gasp softly before she melted into the kiss.

This wasn’t like the tentative, uncertain kisses they had shared before — this was deeper, rougher, more desperate.

His hands slid down her back, pressing her body closer to his as their mouths moved in sync.

Their breaths mingled, their tongues entwined, and every lingering hesitation between them seemed to fade.

Mia responded just as eagerly, her fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt as she clung to him.

Her heartbeat was rapid against his chest, matching the pace of his own.

Lucas felt the warmth of her body, the way her breaths hitched whenever he pressed closer.

He didn’t even realize when he had moved until Mia was beneath him, her back against the soft fabric of the tent floor.

Her legs instinctively wrapped around his waist, pulling him in, and the movement sent a jolt through him.

He swallowed hard, his breathing uneven as their kissing deepened.

Every brush of her lips, every shift of her body beneath him only made the fire inside him burn hotter.

His hands moved instinctively, trailing up her sides before slipping under the hem of her shirt.

Mia shivered at the touch, her breath catching in her throat, but she didn’t stop him.

Instead, she arched into him slightly, encouraging him without words.

Lucas hesitated for only a moment.

He needed to be sure. His fingers stilled, his grip gentle as he waited.

Mia’s hands moved to his face, cupping his cheeks as she pulled him down for another kiss. This one was slower, but just as intense, filled with more emotions than before.

When they finally pulled apart, her eyes met his, darkened with something he had never seen in her before.

She reached down, guiding his hand higher, silently giving him permission.

Lucas didn’t need to be told twice. He continued, unbuttoning her shirt, his fingers brushing against her skin as the fabric slowly parted.

He swallowed hard, his throat dry, but he kept going, unable to stop himself now.

His lips found hers again, their kisses growing more fervent.

The warmth of her body, the softness of her skin beneath his hands — it was overwhelming.

His own breathing was ragged by the time they finally broke apart.

Mia’s chest was rising and falling quickly, her flushed face only adding to the moment’s intensity.

Then, Mia’s shirt slipped from her shoulders, falling soundlessly to the ground.

Lucas exhaled slowly, his gaze meeting hers once more.

She looked away, Lucas guessed she was shy and she had every reason to be... she hadn’t worn anything under.

Mia bent over slightly, her arms wrapping around herself as if shielding her bare skin from his gaze.

Her fingers trembled as they gripped her shirt, still clinging to the fabric even after it had fallen from her shoulders.

A deep blush colored her face, turning her cheeks almost as pink as a cherry.

Lucas remained where he was, watching her with a mixture of curiosity and patience.

She was beautiful — more than he had ever imagined. But it was clear that she wasn’t entirely comfortable, not yet.

At this moment, she looked vulnerable.

He exhaled softly, running a hand through his damp hair before gripping the hem of his own shirt. Slowly, he peeled it off, pulling the fabric over his head and tossing it aside.

The cool air met his skin, but he barely noticed. He had done this without thinking, but when he glanced at Mia, he saw her eyes widen slightly.

Her gaze trailed down his torso, lingering on his toned stomach, the defined muscles that lined his abdomen.

Her blush deepened, and for a moment, she looked almost mesmerized.

Lucas couldn’t help the small smirk that tugged at his lips. "Didn’t think I was this built?"
