Chapter 53 – High-end Villain Who Regrets Nothing

Lux raised a brow, clearly enjoying this more than he should.

"What did the doctor say?" he asked, as if she hadn’t just confessed to lightly manhandling his unconscious body.

"She said..." Rava folded her arms, still red. "You’re fine. Not a scratch. Just a few bruises. She was confused too."

"Good," he said simply. Then casually sat up all the way and began buttoning his shirt like this was a completely normal Wednesday.

Rava blinked. "So... that blood... was it yours or—?"

"Mine," Lux said without hesitation. "But let’s just say... I regenerate fast. Bloodline stuff."

Rava frowned. "Stuff like that exists?"

Lux looked at her, a hint of that glint back in his eyes. "You’d be surprised what exists, Miss Bluewave."

She studied him for a moment. He looked perfectly relaxed again. Like he didn’t just drop half-dead into her car last night. Like he hadn’t been bleeding through luxury leather onto her upholstery.

"Seriously though," he added after a pause, softening his tone just slightly, "thank you. For saving me."

Her throat tightened.

It was the first time he sounded real again. Not sarcastic. Not flirty. Not smug.

Just... grateful.

She looked away quickly. "Don’t mention it. You’d have done the same."

"Maybe," Lux said, still smiling faintly. "Depends on how hot you looked while collapsing."

Rava turned her head back and glared. "You’re such a pain."

"And yet..." he gestured toward the bed. "Here I am. Tucked in and everything."

She rolled her eyes and sat back down on the edge of the bed, glaring at him like it would somehow make her heart beat less.

"So. Are you gonna tell me what actually happened?"

Lux leaned back against the pillows again, tilting his head slightly. "Just a bit of a street brawl."

"Street brawl," Rava repeated. "Right. You make it sound like you tripped and fell into a food court argument."

He shrugged. "What can I say? Sometimes I attract weird trouble."

She narrowed her eyes. "Weird how?"

"The kind that comes from above," he said vaguely, then grinned. "Don’t worry about it. It’s over now. Mostly."

Rava didn’t press. Not because she didn’t want to—hell, every part of her screamed for answers—but because she recognized that particular brand of dodge. The one rich kids used when something was dangerous and private and bigger than any headline.

And besides, he was awake. Whole. And alive.

That counted.

"So what now?" she asked, shifting a little. "More street brawls? World domination?"

"Nope," Lux said, sitting up straighter and stretching his arms until his joints popped. "I want to buy a car."

She blinked. "Wait—seriously?"

He looked dead serious. "Or a motorcycle. Or both. I was going to do it, before... well." He gestured to himself. "Before I started bleeding in alleys."

"You really were heading to buy a car? I thought you were joking."

Lux nodded. "Yep. New world. New city. Vacation mode. I need wheels."

Rava laughed. "You have no taste in priorities."

"Excuse you, transportation is sacred," Lux replied. "And for the record, your car is a beast. Sleek. Dangerous. Turns corners like it’s being chased by divine tax agents. Where’d you get it?"

Rava crossed her legs, chin tilting proudly. "Custom order. Sea-tier Kraken import. Only three were made. Mine was the first."

Lux let out a low whistle. "And I thought I had good taste."

She smirked. "You clearly do, or you wouldn’t be admiring it."

He leaned forward slightly, still barefoot, still with one button undone. "How about this—come with me?"

Rava blinked. "What?"

"Help me pick one out," Lux said. "You’ve got the eye. The budget. The taste. I need all three."

She studied him carefully. "You want me to take you shopping for a car."

Lux tilted his head. "Unless you’re scared I’ll charm the sales rep into giving me one for free."

Rava opened her mouth to respond—then paused.

Closed it.

"...Fine. But if you faint in a showroom, I’m leaving you on the floor."

"Fair," Lux said, standing up slowly. "But first..."

He looked down at himself, plucking at his shirt, then at his ripped pants.

"...I need new clothes. Something less ’blood-stained alley demon-chic’ and more ’rich guy with dangerous hobbies.’"

Rava blinked. "Wait. What is your actual fashion style?"

Lux thought about it.

"High-end villain who regrets nothing."

She sighed. "You’re impossible."

"Yeah," he said with a grin. "But I’m charming about it."

And just like that, they stepped out of the guest room, side by side.

The marble floors gleamed beneath their feet as they made their way to the private lift that led down to the garage.

Rava walked with that innate grace she always had—head high, face calm—but her chest? Yeah. That was another story.

She could hear her heartbeat.

Loud and obnoxious.

Every time he looked at her—or didn’t look at her, which somehow made it worse—her mind went into a spiral. It didn’t help that he’d rolled his sleeves up again and somehow, somehow, still looked like someone freshly styled by a luxury magazine after nearly dying in an alley.

The garage lights flicked on as they reached the bottom, revealing her custom Kraken import car waiting by the sleek obsidian wall. The vehicle practically glistened in the light.

The driver, same one from before, stood beside it. He glanced at Rava, then Lux... and frowned.

Lux noticed.

Didn’t even wait for the man to speak.

"Yes," Lux said, voice dry and disarming. "I’m alive. I’m breathing. Nothing missing. Thank you for your concern."

The driver blinked, then exhaled and opened the back door without a word.

They slid in. Leather seats. Cool air. Faint whiff of lavender and metal. The hum of expensive silence.

"Car showroom," Rava said. "The usual place."

Lux stretched a little in the seat. "I need new clothes too. Can’t exactly buy a car looking like I crawled out of a bad story arc."

"Boutique stop as well," she told the driver.

He nodded and drove.
