Guide to raise my cutie husbands -
Chapter 1875 - 1875: City Lord
"How are you, sister?" Xien Zhenya looked down at Xien Xieren, who had once chased her out of this palace like a dog. She had thought that after all these years, the anger and blame she had felt that day when she had to carry her poisoned daughter and injured husbands would have simmered down after all these years.
However, the second Yu Dong brought this woman in front of her Xien Zhenya wished she could skin her alive and eat her flesh. Now that this woman was in front of her, Xien Zhenya wanted to slowly torment her until she was begging for death.
"Xien Zhenya! You will die a horrible death!" Xien Xieren roared as she tried to get away from the guards who were holding her. However, she was soon suppressed and forced on the ground to kneel properly.
"Preposterous! How dare you curse the empress?" One of the officials who had been supporting Xien Zhenya snapped harshly as she looked down at Xien Xieren.
Though after being released from prison, this official was covered in dust and gunk, her voice was still as loud as it was when she was working under Xien Zhenya.
Xien Xieren raised her head and looked at the officials whom she had thrown into the prison and her eyes flashed with hatred. If she had known that these people would one day stand by Xien Zhenya's side again, then she would have killed them all instead of tormenting them in hope that they would stand by her side.
"If there is anyone going to die a cruel death, then it will be you, my dear sister," Xien Zhenya sneered while sitting on the throne. "Have you forgotten what good things you have done to take over this throne? I am afraid that before you come to haunt me, our mother who is waiting for you, will not let you go."
As soon as Xien Zhenya finished speaking, Xien Xieren stiffened. She suddenly remembered that Master Ruan had trapped the soul of her mother with her life but whether Master Ruan was alive or dead, Xien Xieren had no idea!
If that woman was dead, then—
Suddenly a chill rose in the air and Xien Xieren could not help but tremble.
"Xien Zhenya, let's talk about this," Xien Xieren raised her head and smiled at Xien Zhenya. "I—I am your only sister, your only family left. You—you cannot kill me."
When Xien Zhenya heard the shameless words of Xien Xieren, she curled her lips in disgust.
"Xien Xieren, do you not feel disgusted while saying those words?" Xien Zhenya questioned with a hint of disdain on her face. She said to her sister, "Because even if you don't feel disgusted, I do. It was you who chased me out of this place and tried to kill me again and again. You even poisoned my daughter without the slightest regret and now you dare plead for your life with me?"
"Killing you swiftly will be the greatest mercy that I might show you and you dare beg for your pathetic life!"
Xien Xieren's eyes widened. Even a child could see that Xien Zhenya had no desire to let her off.
She parted her lips to say something, most probably begging and pleading for her life but Xien Zhenya was in no mood to listen to her shameless words.
She waved her hand and then said, "Drag this criminal away and skin her alive! Her body shall be hanged on the imperial wall for the entire month along with those who supported her."
"No, your majesty!"
"Please forgive us. We didn't mean to."
"She forced us!"
Wails echoed in the imperial court but Xien Zhenya was no longer willing to listen to their cries. She raised her hand and dismissed the guards who dragged the criminals away.
Yu Dong watched Xien Xieren being dragged out of the court as if she were a rag doll and heaved a sigh of relief. With this woman gone, no one shall target her family ever again.
She turned around on her feet and headed out of the court. It wasn't that she didn't want to join the victory banquet but more than that, she wished to return home. Two years had passed; who knows what kind of changes might have happened at the village?
"Are you leaving without saying goodbye?"
Hearing the voice, Yu Dong paused and turned to look at Xien Zhenya, who was standing behind her. "Your majesty, my family is waiting for me."
She had promised her husbands that she would return home the second the war ended.
Xien Zhenya smiled when she heard Yu Dong's words.
"I know, but you should still take your rewards with you," Xien Zhenya said to her as she took out a decree that she had stamped and written with the dragon seal.
Xien Zhenya would have never thought that the dragon seal that she had been looking for was actually hidden in her mother's room all along. It was buried under the eaves of the tree where their mother would sometimes sit down and tell them stories about her mighty victories.
Most probably, Xien Xieren never took those memories to heart but their mother did.
Yu Dong looked at the decree that allowed her to become a first-rank city lord and curled her lips when she saw the gold taels written as her first salary.
She raised her head and looked at Xien Zhenya before saying, "You won't regret showing me so much attention, your majesty?"
"Of course not," Xien Zhenya's eyes flashed as she smiled and said to Yu Dong, "After all, without you I could have never won this war."
Though Xien Zhenya never pointed it out, the truth was she knew all along that there was something different about Yu Dong. However, she was smart enough to keep this matter to herself because Xien Zhenya knew that curiosity killed the cat.
Yu Dong's eyes narrowed when she heard the words of Xien Zhenya; however, she didn't say anything. With a twist of her feet, she flipped in the air and sat on the back of the horse that was arranged for her and had supported her throughout the war.
She looked at Xien Zhenya with a deep look in her eyes before saying, "If destiny calls for it, we will meet again, your majesty."
