Guide Me If You Dare
Chapter 94: ESPERS AT WORK

Chapter 94: ESPERS AT WORK

"YUYU, YOONYOON, you’re here?"

Yuno wouldn’t say that he was surprised to see Moon Noa there with Haru.

Sajangnim is still an S-Class Guide, after all. Anyway...

Apparently, Yang Youngjae and the other members of the Top 5 were in the fitness center behind Moon Noa and Haru.

But the building where the gym was destroyed— making it look like ruins in an abandoned city. Only the walls remained standing, but even those things were barely intact. The long cracks along the surface were threatening to make the walls collapse at any moment.

It wasn’t just Moon Noa and Haru there.

Bambi, Rebecca, Mo Hanjin, and Kim Jaeha were also present.

The Top 5 Espers’ really brought their Guides with them.

Then Jin Sooin, Lee Sarang, and Matthew were probably "inside."

Yuno bowed his head towards everyone politely. "Hello."

His fellow Guides, except for Moon Noa, barely returned his greeting.

"Ki Gayoon, let’s go," Ryu Sungbin said. "Prince Haru will serve as our Guides’ bodyguard, so you can leave Noh Yuno here. It’s dangerous inside."

"Alright," Ki Gayoon said, and then he turned to Yuno. "Don’t do anything reckless while I’m away, Noh Yuno. Stick to Moon Noa and use the prince bastard as a shield if you have to."

"Gayoon-san, you know I’m fluent in Korean, right?"

"I said that for you to hear," Ki Gayoon said, his eyes still focused on Noh Yuno. "I’ll be back, Noh Yuno."

Then, much to everyone’s surprise, Ki Gayoon ruffled Noh Yuno’s hair affectionately.

Is it that shocking that Gayoon Hyung is doing PDA with me?

"Okay, Hyung. I’ll wait for you," Yuno said while nodding obediently. "Take care."

Ki Gayoon just nodded, and then he followed Ryu Sungbin.

"Yuno-kun, make sure you don’t step out of the barrier I made," Haru said, pointing at the golden lights on the floor. "You’re safe as long as you’re inside."

"Yes, Haru-nim," Yuno said, pausing for a moment. "Are you not allowed to join the Top 5 Espers, sir?"

"I’m a foreigner, so I’m not allowed to meddle with this country’s problem," Haru explained. "After all, our government refuses to officially request Korea’s cooperation to catch the serial killer. Even the Chinese government wants to catch the serial killer on their own."

Oh.

That means there might be Chinese Espers in our country doing their own investigation at the moment.

Haaah.

Why don’t these governments just cooperate for once?

"Yuyu, are you alright?" Moon Noa asked worriedly. "This is the first time a Guide you know personally died."

Ah.

Sajangnim is aware of my, uh, trauma.

"I’m still not sure, Sajangnim," Yuno said, being honest to his boss. "I guess it hasn’t sunk in yet."

TSK.

Ki Gayoon finally understood why Lee Sarang, Jin Sooin, and Matthew were just standing there even though Yang Youngjae was supposed to be subdued already.

A pile of rubbles.

Yang Youngjae and his dead Guide were buried in a pile of rubbles— on purpose, it seemed.

"I believe Yang Youngjae is trying to kill himself by sealing off their air supply there," Ryu Sungbin explained. "He could have just crushed himself to death, but I think he’s trying not to damage Choi Kangmin’s body in his arms. He can’t let go of his Guide, so he just buried himself under that pile of rubbles."

"I’m trying to send air in the small gaps I find here and there," Matthew, a wind manipulator, explained. "But every time Yang Youngjae realizes that, he’d block the hole with some debris. He’s really determined to die."

Ki Gayoon raised an eyebrow at Matthew. "You can’t lift the debris?"

Matthew’s face turned red as if he was embarrassed. "Yang Youngjae is making everything around him heavier than they originally were."

Ki Gayoon just scoffed.

"Don’t be too hard on Matthew, Gayoon-ah," Jin Sooin scolded him. "He got to lift the debris earlier, but that only made Yang Youngjae angrier. He goes on a Rampage every time he realizes that we’re trying to pull him out of the rubbles."

Once again, Ki Gayoon scoffed. "Then distract him before you knock him out."

"Easier said than done, Ki Gayoon," Ryu Sungbin said. "Don’t underestimate an Esper who just lost his Guide."

"I’m not underestimating the situation. I just think you’re all being too soft on Yang Youngjae. Don’t let your empathy blind your judgment," Ki Gayoon said. "Lee Sarang."

"Yes, Oppa?"

"I’m going to lift the pile of rubbles in one go," Ki Gayoon explained while looking at Lee Sarang. "Once I do, I want you to create an illusion using your water ability."

Lee Sarang looked confused. "What kind of illusion does Oppa want me to create?"

"Create Choi Kangmin’s reflection on the water you control," Ki Gayoon said, and then he looked at the pile of rubbles. It was covered with dark purple Mana— a sign that Yang Youngjae was using his gravity to make the debris heavier. "Do it as soon as I lift the rubbles. Once Yang Youngjae is distracted—"

"We’ll knock him out," Ryu Sungbin said, cutting off Ki Gayoon. "Jin Sooin and I will subdue Yang Youngjae once he gets distracted. Then..."

Ryun Sungbin turned to Matthew.

Then Matthew nodded as if he understood what Ryu Sungbin wanted him to do. "I’ll retrieve Choi Kangmin’s body as soon as Yang Youngjae lets go of him."

"Great. Now let’s execute the plan," Gayoon said, raising his hand. "Here you go."

With just one flick of his hand, Gayoon was able to lift the entire pile of rubbles.

Admittedly, he used more force than expected— causing his arm to go numb immediately because of how heavy the debris was.

Damn.

Yang Youngjae, I acknowledge you.

As soon as Gayoon lifted the heavy debris, Yang Youngjae let out a blood-curdling scream— his eyes glowing red, black Mana exploding from his body.

And then Yang Youngjae began hurling heavy debris towards them.

If there were Civilians or low-ranking Espers there, those people would have died already.

This is why a high-ranking Esper’s Rampage is dangerous.

"Lee Sarang!"

"I’m on it, Gayoon Oppa!"

While Jin Sooin was busy punching and kicking the debris coming their way with her brute strength, Lee Sarang flew upwards.

Then Lee Sarang, now suspended in the air, made it "rain," but the "rain" only poured on Yang Youngjae’s spot.

The "rain" was heavy, immediately creating a puddle.

After that, the puddle started to emerge— the water taking the form of a person.

It may look like a human-shaped "silhouette" to them, but Lee Sarang was using her ability to create an image from the water.

And it worked.

For a moment, Yang Youngjae’s eyes returned to normal while looking at the illusion in front of him. "Kangmin-ah..."

Then the moment they were waiting for happened.

Yang Youngjae, distracted by the illusion, stood up— dropping Choi Kangmin’s lifeless body on the group.

Matthew immediately moved and used his wind ability to lift Choi Kangmin’s body, and then he pulled it towards him.

But, at that moment, Yang Youngjae realized what happened and ran after Choi Kangmin’s body while yelling angrily.

"DON’T TOUCH MY GUIDE!"

Ryu Sungbin blocked Yang Youngjae’s way, and then Ryu Sungbin grabbed Yang Youngjae by the head. "Cool your head first, Yang Youngjae."

And then Ryu Sungbin burned Yang Youngjae with his "cool" flame.

Gayoon scoffed at the Top 5’s de facto leader’s action.

"Cool your head first," my ass.
