After their conversation, he ended the call.

He then paused the video he was watching on his laptop.

It was the CCTV footage of Ki Gayoon and Eun Rina’s encounter where the Esper almost went on a Rampage.

He had watched the video several times, but...

"Why did Noh Yuno call?" Ryu Sungbin asked, sitting on the armchair of Bambi’s seat. "Did he already find out what caused Ki Gayoon to almost snap?"

"Not yet," Bambi said while shaking his head. "But Guide Noh Yuno-ssi said it wasn’t because Guide Eun Rina made physical contact with Gayoon Hyung."

To be honest, Bambi was watching the video again and again because he thought Eun Rina did something that caused Ki Gayoon to almost go on a Rampage.

But Noh Yuno said it wasn’t the cause.

"Guide Noh Yuno-ssi said that an unknown substance caused Gayoon Hyung’s almost-Rampage. Unfortunately, he hasn’t figured out what substance it is. But he said he’ll ask for Guide Moon Noa-ssi’s help later," Bambi said, sighing. "I can’t find fault in Eun Rina’s explanation since we don’t have evidence that she caused Gayoon Hyung’s almost-Rampage. And it wasn’t wrong for her to offer her service as a Guide to an Esper on the verge of snapping. So, technically, she’s innocent."

That was why Bambi had no choice but to let Eun Rina leave his office unscathed.

"Yang Youngjae seems out of it," Ryu Sungbin commented. "He didn’t say anything when you summoned Eun Rina to your office earlier. Then they left quietly. It’s strange that Choi Kangmin is quiet— and it’s stranger that he wasn’t with his Guide when Eun Rina encountered Ki Gayoon."

"Do you think Yang Youngjae is already under Eun Rina’s control?"

"That seems to be the case."

Then those bastards are using the same technique that I do— controlling Espers through Guiding.

There was one thing bugging him, though.

"I wonder why Eun Rina isn’t even trying to hide her intentions," Bambi wondered out loud. "It’s as if she wants us to catch her."

"Bambi-ya, when did you become slow?"

"Eun Rina is bringing all the attention to her just like how Noh Yuno is bringing all the attention to him," Ryu Sungbin said, smiling while ruffling Bambi’s hair affectionately. "Do you remember why Noh Yuno is doing that?"

"To allow us to move in the shadows while the serial killer’s attention is on him... oh."

So, Eun Rina was putting the spotlight on herself to get them distracted.

And probably blindsided.

"Eun Rina wants us to keep an eye on her, but Noh Yuno claims it wasn’t Eun Rina who caused Ki Gayoon’s almost-Rampage. That means Eun Rina is trying to divert our attention away from the "trick" that she used on Ki Gayoon."

Bambi raised an eyebrow at Ryu Sungbin. "Hyung, your arrogant smirk is annoying. You’ve already figured out the trick that Eun Rina used, haven’t you?"

"It’s a trick that worked on Ki Gayoon because that bastard can be too arrogant sometimes," Ryu Sungbin said, extending his hand to Bambi. "Come. I’ll show you where the trick is."

Bambi was about to grab Ryu Sungbin’s hand, but his phone rang.

It was a call from Chief Kim Munhee, so he had no choice but to answer it first.

"Yes, Ma’am?"

<"I need you to go to Seowon Hospital right now, Team Leader Bambi-ssi. The serial killer attacked Guide Moon Noa-ssi, and Haru-nim got hurt while protecting him. We need to make sure that Haru-nim doesn’t die here, or else, Japan will use that as an excuse to start a war with us.">

Bambi knitted his eyebrows. "The serial killer attacked Guide Moon Noa-ssi?"

The one who coughed up black blood was Haru.

After that, Haru fainted.

Hence, they brought the ex-prince to the hospital.

"Haru-nim hasn’t woken up yet, but the doctors said he’s already stable," Leehan reported to him. Then he paused for a moment as if he was hesitating before finishing his report. "Hyung-nim, I heard Haru-nim’s Guide is on his way here."

There was the strange pang in Moon Noa’s chest again, but he just ignored it.

"That’s good news, then," Moon Noa said while looking at the small vial in his hand that contained Haru’s blood. "I need to find out why Haruharu coughed up black blood first."

"That wasn’t a compliment— not this time," Yuno complained while pinching Ki Gayoon’s arms— arms that were wrapped around his waist while the Esper was behind him. "You’re making your bathtub too small for us!"

The bathtub in Ki Gayoon’s bathroom was usually spacious.

It should be big enough for two grown adults.

But Ki Gayoon was too big!

"Why do we even have to take a bath together?" Yuno complained, but he still leaned against Ki Gayoon’s solid chest. "I thought you would jump me as soon as we got home since you know I’m in the mood, Hyung."

"I can’t jump you when I know you just coughed up black blood."

"Hyung, you worry too much."

"Because you live recklessly, punk. You keep giving me mini heart attacks."

"Isn’t it just because of your old age? Hyung should go get your heart checked at the hospital."

"You’re really a disrespectful piece of shit, Noh Yuno."

"And yet Hyung is attracted to me," Yuno said teasingly. "Hyung has terrible taste in men."

"My sense of taste is fine— and that’s why I find you delectable, no?"

Aigoo.

That smooth line may or may not have made Yuno blush.

Is Hyung still "drunk?"

"Hyung, why are you suddenly saying cheesy lines?"

"This is called flirting, Noh Yuno," Ki Gayoon said sternly. "Get used to it."

Tsk.

Yuno moved sideways and grabbed Ki Gayoon’s face before pulling him down for a kiss to shut him up.

Let’s just enjoy this moment first.
