Gravity Mage with Level-Up System -
Chapter 1417 - 1417: Oldman referee was dead!
From MC's Perspective:
I started doing the appraisal work in the underground storage room. But I couldn't help but play my conversation scenes with Lord Charlotte in my mind.
She was definitely up to something. She had asked me some important questions. Maybe she is investigating the mastermind. But I don't know when she would find out about Forbidden Wizard Remi.
A hint of doubt flashed in my eyes.
It appears that she wants to confirm something. I hope she finds him soon before he does something else.
...
Meanwhile,
A wizard seed has come to the Silver Tower. He is none other than Wilfred Cox. Not long after, Jason Nicholson and Susan Park arrived as well.
The reason for their appearance was due to the latest news circulating about Peter Doyle since yesterday.
The three of them sat in the living room to discuss.
"Do you think it's true?" Susan asked.
"I had thought it was a rumor yesterday. But then I realized it was an official statement," Wilfred replied.
"Which means Peter Doyle was indeed crippled," he added.
Gasp!
Susan Park took a sharp breath. She couldn't help but think about Vincent Carey.
"But he was fine after the duel. Apart from the broken bones, there were no other serious injuries," Jason said.
"You are right. Something must have happened after that. If not, the referee and Vincent would have known prior to that," Wilfred said.
"Where is he?"
"Is he still locked up in his room?" Susan Park asked with concern.
"It must be,"Jason said.
"We thought the Doyle family could target him because of the defeat. But now he could face an even more serious threat," Wilfred said.
"No way, everyone saw the duel. They can't falsely accuse Vincent," Susan said in a serious tone.
Just as they were seriously discussing, someone made a fast entrance. The person was none other than Manager Lara.
But she looked completely shaken. The three of them immediately stood up upon seeing her.
"Manager Lara, what happened?"
"Why are you looking worried?" Susan asked.
She wanted to ask why Manager Lara was scared. But she changed her words at the last second. She recalled that Manager Lara is a Magic Lord.
Lara calmed her head. She hadn't expected the trio to be here.
"Did you guys get the news?" she asked.
Wilfred, Susan, and Jason thought about Peter Doyle.
"Yes, we did. That's why we came here to see Vincent," Wilfred said.
"I didn't expect Peter Doyle to cause problems after the duel ended," Susan added.
"It's just a bit confusing. There is no news about how his mana core was damaged," Jason said in a serious tone.
Lara looked at them with a grave expression.
"It's old news. I'm talking about the news that came five minutes ago. It was released by the Magic Arena Manager, Garrett," Lara said to them.
The three of them were stunned after hearing that.
Wilfred Cox felt something was wrong. Combining it with her grave expression, he thought it's related to Vincent Carey.
"Quickly, watch the news," Jason said from the side.
Susan Park nodded her head before taking out her flat digital device. Then she started accessing the online news.
Then she saw the magic arena news trending in the first place. She opened the page. When the article appeared, her gaze fell on the headline.
"What?" she blurted out in shock.
Wilfred Cox was taken aback by her reaction. He took the device from her and began to read it.
"Sh!t," he cursed in a low tone.
Jason Nicholson's expression changed. He then took the device and began to read the headline.
"The Magic Arena Elder, the referee Kim who presided over the fight between Wizard Seeds Vincent Carey and Peter Doyle, was found dead today," Jason uttered in shock.
Everyone stood in the same spot like frozen statues.
The three wizard seeds understood that someone was targeting the Silver Tower. There was some conspiracy going on.
The person who was going to be affected was none other than Vincent Carey.
"It must be the Wind Elemental Tower and the Black Tower," Wilfred Cox uttered first.
"I knew something was fishy when the Wind Elemental Tower first sent Peter Doyle for the challenge," he added.
Hearing that, the other two's expressions changed drastically.
"The old man referee was one of the witnesses who was there near the duel platform. Now he is gone. An important witness has been eliminated," Jason said.
"Then Vincent Carey is the only one left. If the two towers accuse him, then how would he prove his innocence?" Susan Park asked.
"It's not going to be that easy. Someone wants to put the Silver Tower in a tight spot. But our Forbidden Wizards won't let that happen," Lara said finally.
She looked at the three of them with surprise. In a matter of minutes, the trio had figured out the ins and outs.
"Manager Lara, could it be the mastermind who targeted us?" Wilfred Cox asked.
Hearing that, the faces of Susan and Jason changed drastically. They felt many things were adding up right now.
The trio had faced an attack recently. They couldn't find out the mastermind so far. But now, after hearing the news, they felt it was possible that it was done by the towers.
"I don't know. That's why I'm worried. I need to report to Lord Charlotte first. You guys can sit and relax." After saying that, she left the place.
"Wilfred, what's going on?" Susan asked.
Jason turned towards Wilfred as well.
They both knew that among the wizard seeds, Wilfred was the one who knew about intelligence gathering.
"It's going to be troublesome. I don't know whether the Forbidden Wizards are keeping something from us. Both the towers won't join hands for no reason."
"Though they seem to be using the Doyle family as a pawn in their plans, I had a feeling earlier that the Wind Elemental Tower is targeting the Silver Tower."
"Now it's coming true," Wilfred Cox said seriously.
The conflict between the Magic Towers is not new. There have been some minor skirmishes in the past. But it has occurred between other weaker towers, not them.
