Chapter 98: Chapter 97 Dragon Dad and Sister (4K, First Subscription Support)
"You lead the Knight Order stationed in the wilderness, often commanding the knights to enter the barbaric territories without traces of civilization. In the areas you can venture into, are there many dragonified beasts, Earth Dragon Species, Flying Dragon Species, and creatures with Dragon Veins?"
Noah asked.
"Not many, but occasionally you can see some."
"As long as there are some, that’s fine. Without incurring casualties, capture some and send them to me. Preferably in pairs, so they can breed."
"What do you intend to do?"
"Cultivate Favored."
Noah extended his Dragon Claw, fiddling with the Red Dragon Egg in front of him, tiny sparks appearing between his dragon fingers, causing the eggshell to reflect a faint metallic sheen.
"Cultivate Favored?"
Tidel showed a contemplative look, with a faint expression of conflict and hesitation on his face.
"What’s with your expression? If it feels difficult, just forget it."
The Golden Dragon exhaled flames from its nostrils and mouth,
"I’m only asking since it’s convenient for you. If you’re unwilling, I can have the Cloud Giants capture Dragon Beasts for me instead; they are stronger than your knights."
"Noah, you’ve misunderstood Tidel; it’s not that he’s unwilling, he just happens to have a pair of Fire Dragons."
Edith laughed softly beside him, speaking to defend her husband.
"Fire Dragons?"
Noah squinted, looking at the young man with an awkward smile,
"Were they captured during the campaign against the Red Dragon?"
Fire Dragons are a type of Sub-dragon living in volcanic areas, with scales similar in color to Red Dragons, both being crimson, hence often mistaken for Red Dragons. However, Fire Dragons are much smaller than adult Red Dragons and lack the strong forelimbs of Red Dragons.
This Dragon Species has a strong territorial sense and is not lacking in intelligence; they can speak Dragon language. Despite their irritable nature, they are quite opportunistic and generally attack only creatures weaker than themselves. When facing stronger Dragon Species, they choose to submit and even offer collected treasures.
For Fire Dragons, the best submission target is naturally the superior Red Dragon, even if the Red Dragon, as the head of the Colorful Dragons, is tyrannical and greedy. Yet, the Fire Dragons still flock towards it.
Thus, in the territory of adult Red Dragons, one can also see Fire Dragons serving them, usually one, occasionally a pair.
"Yes, I originally planned to domesticate them as mounts."
The young man gritted his teeth, showing an expression as if cutting flesh, reluctance apparent on his face,
"Since you need them, I’ll have someone send this pair of Fire Dragons to you when I return."
"You want to change mounts? Displeased that Flying Dragons don’t match your status."
Noah naturally understood Tidel’s thoughts. His wife, Edith, rode a dragon steed. Comparatively, Flying Dragons are just large Dragon Species beasts, completely overshadowed. How could the young man be content with that,
"Holding on to such trivial thoughts? Have you successfully domesticated that pair of Fire Dragons?"
"Not yet."
Tidel shook his head.
Although Fire Dragons are simply Sub-dragons, belonging to the bully-the-weak-and-fear-the-strong type, it doesn’t mean they’ll bow to humans, even those who defeated them.
In the eyes of Dragons, humans are an inferior species, wherefore would they be willing to become mounts, allowing themselves to be ridden?
"Then send them over, in a few months, you can come and have a trial ride."
Even though he hadn’t seen the Fire Dragons yet, Noah confidently assured.
Merely Sub-dragons, if they’re willing to be subservient to Red Dragons, would they dare to cause trouble in front of a Golden Dragon?
"You’re willing to help me domesticate Fire Dragons?!"
The young man was both surprised and delighted.
"Why not, with such a small matter? However, once you have a new mount, in return, you’ll need to help me capture more Dragon Species creatures."
"No problem."
Tidel readily agreed, satisfying the Golden Dragon.
The rare return of the couple waited for their daughter to naturally awaken from sleep.
However, the two, wishing to be close to their daughter, quickly discovered their daughter wasn’t close to them, instead showing more reliance and attachment to Noah.
Even when awake, she only wanted to frolic by the Golden Dragon’s side, showing resistance and impatience towards their hugs and kisses.
"Gwen’s resistance is normal, you’re too unfamiliar to her. Usually, when there’s nothing going on, I suggest you visit more often. After all, she’s your daughter. Visiting once every three months is too outrageous."
Noah faced the couple’s gaze, offering a candid suggestion,
"Don’t make excuses in front of me. It’s up to you to think about how to make time. A word of advice, Gwen is about to start learning to speak."
"Understood!"
Hearing this, the couple both looked thoughtful. Not to mention Tidel, even the usually indifferent Edith showed a significant change in emotions.
In the following period, the couple indeed frequently visited the Duke Mansion, having accepted Noah’s suggestion, trying to carve out time, visiting their daughter whenever possible.
Especially the Half-Elf Edith, whose dragon steed was faster and more agile in flight. So much so that Tidel, noticing he was falling behind in visiting his daughter, sought his mother’s help to establish a semi-permanent individual Transmission Array at his Knight Order’s station.
Of course, the money for the Transmission Array still came from him, but unfortunately, barely three days after it was set up, Edith followed suit.
Thus, their figures almost appeared daily at the Duke Mansion, and Gwendolin’s attitude towards her parents gradually changed, at least no longer resisting and disliking hugs and affection.
