Chapter 329: Chapter 212: Uranos Assassinated, Father Kind and Son Smiling_2
"Shahua Fishman? We could give it a try."
Among the races listed by his foster mother, the most developed was the Shahua Fishman. They not only had their own language but also deities they worshipped. They were capable of building cities under the sea, with a well-defined social hierarchy.
To be fair, the Shahua Fishman belonged to one of the civilized ocean races, even though they often plundered merchant ships and looted coastal towns, truly making them ocean demons.
But their actions were systematic and organized, with command. They were intelligent beings that knew how to think, an undeniable fact.
Regrettably, the Bronze Dragon had a particular liking for the taste of Shahua Fishmen. To distinguish themselves from the Colorful Dragon Clan, the Metallic Dragon Race declared that Metal Dragons do not consume intelligent beings.
Thus, Shahua Fishmen were removed from the ranks of intelligent species; the word "civilized" had no connection to them, branding them as monsters of the ocean.
Given the heinous crimes committed by Shahua Fishmen, no race other than the fishmen themselves spoke up for their injustices. Everyone simply accepted the Bronze Dragon Clan’s classification of them.
The Golden Dragon, being the elder brother of the Metallic Dragon Race, naturally agreed with the Bronze Dragon’s definition of Shahua Fishmen. We can’t have our kin going hungry, can we? That would be too cruel.
And who cares about the grievances and bloodshed of the Shahua Fishmen? They’re just a bunch of natural-born pirates and thieves. Becoming a delicacy for the Bronze Dragons, satisfying their palates, is indeed their honor.
The reason Noah recalled the Shahua Fishmen now was that he remembered their racial trait. The bloodline of Shahua Fishmen was exceedingly unstable, prone to mutations, especially when the external environment underwent drastic changes, making it easy for mutants to arise.
This was a highly adaptable and reproductively prolific monster race. If not for the limitation on their bloodline potential, this race, which could be encountered in any water-filled area, might have become the rulers of the ocean.
But now, they were naturally the favorite delicacy of the Bronze Dragons. They were also a chosen experimental subject for a certain Holy Dragon, and Noah was quite looking forward to their performance in the Dragon Domain.
When Noah quietly established a half-plane and discreetly conducted biological experiments, the Atlas Kingdom, which had been peaceful for twelve years, suddenly faced a massive upheaval.
The Second Monarch Uranos was assassinated!
This was groundbreaking news that sent shockwaves through the Atlas Kingdom and quickly spread across the upper echelons of the Xilantia Continent.
Many major nobles, legendary families, and significant forces like the Silver Moon Royal Court, the Land of Dark Crows, and the Star Tower were all verifying the truth of this news.
Once confirmed, these powers wanted to understand the cause and course of this event, particularly the condition of King Atlas’s injuries.
By this time, Uranos had already consolidated his power and authority, having proven to all legends in the kingdom that he deserved the throne, ruling over sixty million people.
The way he proved it was quite simple, akin to strong males among beasts selecting their true leader, through a fierce and exhilarating fight.
Determining the strength between each other through battle. Although it’s a crude and primitive method, it must be admitted, it’s very effective. All political means and schemes appear laughable in the face of true power.
Thus, when Uranos proved by strength that he was mightier than most legends in the kingdom, his throne became secure.
He didn’t need to exhaust his energy on internal affairs of the kingdom; he could focus his attention outside the kingdom. He didn’t need to fret over the intrigue and conspiracies among the nobles and officials.
He didn’t need to partake in these, competing with these guys; he could stand loftily, mediating and allocating resources as the controller.
Uranos firmly grasped royal authority, accepted both within and outside the kingdom as a strong and domineering king, with many forces prepared to concede and bide their time long-term.
Yet, in the twelfth year of his ambitious aspirations, he was assassinated, and the assassin escaped, not being detained even in the royal palace.
No doubt, this was a tremendous blow to royal authority, not mentioning those legendary families and major nobles who chose to silently observe rather than voice any opinions.
The fearless minor nobles and countless pubs and private venues in the streets, filled with many commoners and adventurers, were relishing the incident, for a king being assassinated was the hottest topic for them.
They harbored no other intentions, not even malice, simply discussing and voicing opinions based on their understanding.
Yet, this reflects that after this incident, Uranos’s authority was compromised because even uninformed minor nobles and ignorant adventurers dared to pass judgment based on mere rumors,
"Our king isn’t that strong at all, not as good as the First King."
"Exactly, look at those pointy-eared ones now, how arrogant they’ve become. They didn’t dare act like this when the First King was around."
"This is entirely our king’s indulgence."
When Noah emerged from the Dragon Domain and received news of the assassination attempt on Uranos, it was already the fifth day after the incident erupted.
"Who could be so bold? Attempting to assassinate Uranos, and right in the Royal City."
Even though five days had passed, no credible and reliable information had surfaced, and the identity of the assassin remained unknown.
At least, the general public and many nobles of the kingdom were in the dark, with rumors running rampant, fabricated with vivid details.
Nevertheless, Noah was not swayed by these false rumors. Since the coronation ceremony, after seizing the opportunity to thoroughly beat up his grandnephew, Noah’s relationship with him had improved significantly.
"It was my child, Wayne!"
When Noah directly inquired of the person involved, all confusion and doubts were instantly dispelled.
"He refuses to acknowledge I am his father."
Seated on the throne, the still-heroic young monarch now bore a trace of weariness never before seen.
"Oh, that’s how it is."
Why would the majestic King of Atlas be assassinated in his royal palace, and moreover, allowed the assassin to escape?
Because this was a family conflict, not a tale of regicide and monarch.
A father who thought he could control everything tried to reclaim a son he had neglected for over thirty years, only to be mercilessly mocked by reality.
But even in such a circumstance, as a father, it’s impossible to go all-out against his son. Uranos was indeed indifferent towards his offspring, but he did provide what was necessary.
Just like Alexander, whom he once overlooked, when Alexander achieved enough success, Uranos, as both king and father, was not stingy with rewards, instead being exceptionally generous, directly granting his son the power to command the army.
Though the original doubts were resolved, new ones emerged.
How did Uranos encounter Wayne? What dialogue and interaction transpired between them? This sparked the conflict, leading to an external misunderstanding of an assassination attempt.
Where is Wayne now? Did he really escape as rumors say? How strong has he become? Could it be that he has reached legendary status? Such an advancement speed is rather outrageous.
At this moment, Noah was itching with curiosity, wanting to be a bystander, this was the storyline he had anticipated for a long time, and it was finally unfolding before him.
But seeing his nephew’s current expression, Noah didn’t dare overstep his bounds.
