Chapter 106: Chapter 101: This Dragon has the Makings of a Hero
"Little Noah, can I trade my hatchling dragon with yours?"
The female mage squinted her already narrow eyes, staring at the hatchling dragon below that followed her granddaughter closely like a shadow, wagging its tail. A smile appeared at the corner of her mouth, and she casually suggested.
"Allow me to refuse."
Noah politely yet firmly rejected his foster mother’s proposal.
"Won’t you consider it? My hatchling dragon looks quite good."
"What would I do with a dragon remnant sucked dry?"
With a colorful dragon species in the hands of a mage, Noah could guess the outcome even with the tip of his tail.
All along, Noah had never seen the adult red dragon that Selena took from her son for this very reason.
Although the Metallic Dragon Race and the Colorful Dragon Clan are antagonists, as members of the Dragon Clan, the immensely oppressed colorful dragons inevitably evoke sympathy from the metal dragons.
"How could that be? My hatchling dragon is well-fed, plump and robust, much stronger than yours which only gnaws on bones."
"If it’s much stronger than mine, then why trade it?"
"Your hatchling is more interesting, I quite like it."
Selena said with a smile.
"Is it? I also have high hopes for this little guy. Once it grows a bit, it will surely accomplish great things."
"You think so highly of it? It’s a red dragon, how far are you planning to raise it?"
The mage looked at the lazy golden dragon nearby, with a hint of surprise in her tone.
"So what if it’s a red dragon? It’s very obedient now, as long as it keeps this state, I could even raise it to an ancient dragon."
"This hatchling is no simple creature, aren’t you worried it might turn on you as it grows a bit? It’s currently enduring everything, all for the day it can explode in power."
"Turn on me? It would have to be able to bite me first."
Noah’s tone was calm, but anyone could hear the confidence, or rather the unmasked arrogance, in it,
"A mere hatchling, even if it’s able to defy its nature, suppress its bloodline instincts, at best it can be called extraordinary. Unless it was born five hundred years before me, in front of me, it can only bow its head and obey, it can only look up to me."
"That’s quite the boast, but your growth age is longer than ordinary dragon species and getting even longer, it will catch up to you sooner or later."
Selena took a glance at the golden dragon, her words profound.
"It can only catch up to me in age, as for strength, heh, it’s not that I look down on it, being born later, it can only always be behind me, it can never surpass me."
"Saying such words sounds overly conceited, generally speaking, those who say such things are soon defeated by those they looked down upon and end up regretting it."
"You’re talking about the clichéd stories from minstrels, right? Where the arrogant and ignorant villain character comes from."
Noah wasn’t in a good mood to speak,
"Do I really seem like a villain? Have you forgotten I have the title of Holy Dragon."
"Haha, it’s my mistake, honorable Holy Dragon lord."
Selena burst into laughter, throwing all her image away, her laughter free and whimsical, truly like a young girl, with a vibrant and youthful quality.
"This is a judgment based on the current circumstances, this is confidence, not arrogance. Bar is a very clever dragon, it will weigh the situation carefully.
In this respect, as long as it is not influenced by its red dragon bloodline and can maintain this rationality, it will always remain as docilely humble as it is now, by my side."
Noah ignored his foster mother’s outrageous laughter.
"Although you have plenty of confidence in yourself, what if it’s not by your side, or say when you enter a slumber mode and lose vigilance, it can still cause immeasurable disaster, you should be able to see, it has that kind of potential."
Selena stopped her laughter, wiped away the tears of laughter from her eyes, and gave an example.
"I’m not a solitary dragon, I have Favored ones, I have servants, I have Tidel, and there’s Gwen. Even if I’m not vigilant, they can suppress this dragon, it has no chance to become a disaster."
Noah said indifferently,
"No matter how you say it, a mere hatchling is not worthy of becoming a threat in my eyes, it’s just a plaything in my eyes for now."
"But I also want to play, how about lending it to me for a while?"
"No, I’m afraid you’ll ruin it, such an interesting hatchling is hard to find another one."
"Stingy Golden Dragon!"
"Thank you for the compliment."
Below the mountain, acting completely like a sycophant, the red dragon Bar, who was serving the young lady, suddenly felt a chill. It looked around, perplexed, but couldn’t see the man and dragon discussing its future and fate.
"Bar, what are you looking at?"
For the red dragon who was distracted and appeared absent-minded, Gwendolin was notably discontent.
"Miss Gwen, please wait a moment."
Unable to find the source of unease, Bar looked at the girl and immediately pleaded for reprieve.
But Little Gwen paid no mind to the red dragon’s words, she lifted her chubby little hand and gently twisted a metallic ring on her wrist.
In an instant, a similar patterned but magnified metal ring worn around the red dragon’s neck released a powerful electric current, leaving Bar speechless and trembling all over as it lay on the ground, its tail twitching.
"Don’t display behavior that I can’t understand again."
Seeing the red dragon in such a miserable state, Gwendolin earnestly warned.
