Chapter 100: Chapter 98 Golden Dragon’s Fury (4K, First Subscription Support Requested)
"Isn’t it way too early?"
Seeing the towering stack of language books in front of him, Noah felt as if the Dragon Scales on his scalp were ready to explode.
"Early? It’s already late enough. Do you know the average age at which children of official members of the Starlight Tower become literate?"
Selena, who brought the abundance of books, retorted without waiting for Noah to respond, and provided the answer herself,
"Nine months.
At the Mage Academy of the Starlight Tower, by the age of one, children already skillfully master the common language. Talented ones can often use the Elf Language, Dwarf Language, Giant Language, and Dragon Language in daily communication.
At the same age, I also mastered the Fairy Language, Elemental Language, Abyss and Hell Language proficiently.
Compared to me, Little Gwen is already quite fortunate, and I am very tolerant of her.
However, I will not indulge her, and certainly not spoil her, for that would be wasting her talent.
Now, she should begin her studies."
"At such a young age, starting to learn languages and writing isn’t necessarily a problem, but shouldn’t the curriculum be adjusted a bit? This seems overwhelming."
Noah offered his opinion, alongside the books Selena brought were accompanying course schedules—dense tables that evoked nearly obliterated memories hidden deep in the mind of the Golden Dragon.
"Noah, if you could make Little Gwen possess the same innate heritage as you, not to mention adjusting the curriculum, even abolishing all courses would be fine."
The Golden Dragon had no words in response.
"Now I only have one question: can you serve as Gwen’s language teacher? I don’t have time to teach her these basic courses. If you’re unwilling, I’ll have no choice but to hire a teacher for her."
"I can be her Dragon Language teacher."
Noah hesitated for a moment before finally replying.
Ever since he was born, the Golden Dragon quite rarely endured hardship; even during his busiest times, he merely undertook the task of crafting the Magic Statue Core.
But even so, he only needed to spend less than half a day each day casually crafting, completing the task within just a month—that was his busiest period.
Now, if he were to agree to be Gwen’s full language subject teacher, it would truly be a non-stop schedule from morning till night.
Such a life seemed too distant, too unfamiliar, too terrifying for Noah, just imagining it made the Golden Dragon instinctively resist.
"Alright."
Selena did not say anything further.
That day, before the sun had fully set, a group of mages uniformly dressed in long robes, basked in the remnants of twilight, entered the Duke Mansion.
Noah had little impression of this group; if he had to say anything, it would be that although their appearances differed, they all seemed sharp and rigid, leaving a poor impression at a glance. Additionally, their magic robes looked quite appealing, resembling a starry night sky.
Starlight Tower
These people were probably from the mage organization mentioned by his foster mother, naturally not some unknown Wild Mage teaching the third generation of Augustus.
Noah had little knowledge of this organization, as there was no relevant description in the heritage of the Golden Dragon.
Yet, it was normal; even with a legendary figure overseeing, if a group didn’t boast a history of at least three thousand years, it wouldn’t qualify to appear in the memory passed down from the Golden Dragon to his descendants.
With the arrival of this group of Starshine Mages, Gwendolin’s nightmare officially descended. This barely one-year-old child now had to learn three different language courses every day.
Aside from eating and sleeping, all remaining time was spent attending classes, acquiring new knowledge. Occasionally, a brief rest was allowed, but it was only just a rest.
The sudden change in lifestyle was extremely difficult for Gwendolin to adapt to; such a learning arrangement was overwhelmingly oppressive, with a suffocating feeling.
However, no matter how Little Gwen cried or fussed, there was no one to pamper her; the classes had to be attended, even if crying.
Although it pained Noah to watch, he did not have the authority to interfere; one sentence from his foster mother would leave him speechless.
"Little Gwen only has a lifespan of two hundred years now, not even a fraction of yours. Do you think she qualifies to play with you?"
Unable to change the environment, the only option was to be forced to adapt to it.
Finding her cries useless, Gwendolin had no choice but to adapt to the new survival environment, even if it was cruel to her.
"She actually adapted!"
Noah found the change in the girl incredible; Little Gwen’s capacity for acceptance was unnaturally strong, unable to be viewed by conventional standards.
Gwendolin was personally certified as a genius by Selena. Noah even sought out Tidel, inquiring about his childhood,
"My mother told me very early on that I had no casting talent."
Watching his barely one-year-old daughter endure what could be considered a torturous school life, Tidel also expressed thorough heartache, simultaneously dispelling Golden Dragon’s doubt,
"So my childhood was easy-going. Not until I turned seven did I proactively seek out my father and thus mastered the Breathing Technique, eventually cultivating Fighting Spirit."
"How do you feel now?"
Noah asked the young man who returned to visit his daughter.
"Grateful, I guess. If I had gone through such a life, I probably would have collapsed."
Tidel’s expression was highly complex, as he attempted to place himself in her situation, yet found he could never endure such a life, but his daughter not only withstood it but adapted very well.
