Chapter 43: Super Strong Ant Queen [1]
Chapter 43: Super Strong Ant Queen [1]
Gabriel felt his arm touch something soft, but there was no time to ponder about that because he could feel that the crushing presence from earlier was much closer.
"Stay still," he whispered in her ear.
"Mmmmm." That was the only thing that came out of mouth, realizing his hand had landed somewhere it shouldn’t. Her cheeks turned crimson, but there was no time to react.
Slowly, Gabriel stood up from his position, staggering to his feet.
Even for someone like him, the fall had been fatal, and as a result, he felt sore all over his back.
His gaze scanned around. The place was dark; he could only make out faint traces of purple creatures all parting to the side for a towering silhouette about three meters tall.
’So that’s where the powerful presence came from.’ His eyes flashed, and his grip on Crimson Judgement tightened.
The silhouette’s body was constantly releasing waves of aura that forced him back!
Suddenly—click—click—click—several mechanisms activated around the cavern.
FWOOSH!
Flaming torches ignited along the walls, one after another, flooding the space with light.
"T-that!" Cassie, standing behind him, gasped at the new scene.
They appeared to be in a spacious cavern over 100 meters in width. The ceiling was so high it vanished into shadows.
The walls were uneven, with roughly twenty tunnels branching into different hives.
In this cavern, there were hundreds of weaker ants and dozens of flying ants hovering in the air.
And standing just ahead was the source of that crushing presence
It was a tall, crimson-eyed humanoid figure of about two meters with an unsettling elegance.
Her striking milky-white chitin was shaped like natural armor over a slender feminine form, with massive scythe-like forelimbs arched like curved blades.
[Super Strong Ant Queen – Lv99]
A chilling silence fell in the cavern as Gabriel saw the level of the enemy.
He sucked in a sharp breath, and when it seemed as if his flight instinct was about to kick in, [Undying Heart] was triggered.
A calm aura enveloped him, and his gaze hardened as he locked eyes with the Ant Queen.
"You..." the queen spoke in a distorted voice. "Are you the human who stormed my home and butchered my children?"
’Tsk, no need for you to answer that. I can sense their blood all over you!’
"Home, you say?" Gabriel sneered, his voice carrying a hint of disgust. "To think a lowly bug like you would turn the death place of King Alveron into a disgusting nest... the audacity."
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"How dare you!" she roared as she stepped forward, a dark aura surging out of her body.
Gabriel advanced further as well, charging his sword with mana.
"Hey, are you really going to fight it?!" Cassie held him back.
"That... that thing is level 99!"
"You think we can escape even if we wanted to?" he asked, yanking his arm free.
"Look around. Where do you think we can run to? They know every nook and cranny as if it’s the back of their hand." His eyes flashed. "All I need from you is to activate that skill from the dungeon."
Cassie hesitated, then nodded her head with a determined expression and activated her skill.
"Empowerment, first activation!"
A soft green glow enveloped his body.
The moment the 30-point boost hit his Strength and Agility, power surged through his limbs like a current.
BOOM!
The ground beneath him exploded as his body shot forward like a crimson missile.
Within seconds, he appeared before her.
Mustering all the strength he could, he slashed upward with the intention of splitting her chest.
CLANG!
The Ant Queen casually raised her scythe-like limb at the last second, blocking his attack mid-air.
Gabriel felt his weapon-wielding arm go numb. He looked up and saw the monster still standing unarmed, without a scratch on her body.
"Hmmf!" she sneered, shifting her weight and swinging.
BOOM!
Her second forelimb smashed into his side with terrifying force.
FWISH—BOOOM!
His body flew like a ragdoll, slamming into the cavern wall with a deafening crash that cracked the stone.
"Guh-!" He coughed violently, blood splattering from his mouth.
Pain flooded every nerve, and for a moment, he couldn’t breathe. This was the first major injury he had sustained since his return.
’For a while, I thought I was invincible with how easily I’ve dealt with all my enemies,’ he thought, staggering to his feet.
The Voidsting Plate he had worn all this while slowly fell from his body, crumbling into shattered pieces.
Cassie’s eyes shrank in horror as she saw him barely standing. The scene was something she had thought she would never witness. Because of his strange strength, she... she subconsciously thought he was some indomitable warrior.
Now, for the first time in a while, she felt genuine fear.
"Stay back. This is my fight," the Ant Queen’s voice echoed as the worker and drone Purpleback ants shrank further.
"Hahahaha, you’re a strong insect," Gabriel laughed despite looking like he could be finished off with a couple more hits.
"But I’ve met insects even scarier than you, and guess what?" He steadied himself as he advanced. "They were all bugs—and at the end of the day, they were eventually crushed by humans."
Her body seemed to bubble with rage as she exploded forward, darting from her spot.
"Dark Flame Orb! Dark Flame Orb!"
He shouted in quick succession, firing dozens of dark flame orbs that exploded in her face.
But she emerged from the blast of dark flames with a furious expression.
"Die!" Gabriel roared, swinging his blade. The queen parried the attack, but he followed up with another—
CLANG!
And another!
CLANG!
He was slowly pushing her back as she was forced into the defensive.
A glimmer of hope flashed in Cassie’s eyes.
But that hope shattered in the next moment. Her eyes widened in shock as she froze.
"Noooooooo, it can’t be!"
