Global Lords: Hundredfold Increments Starting With the Undead -
Chapter 1456 - 1025, Achieving Cooperation_2
Transmigrators?
"Didn't we already send them back ahead of time?!"
"They said the entrance was taken over by trolls. They couldn't break through, so I had them set up camp outside," the Dragon Queen explained simply.
Ugh, we still have to bring the transmigrators along, huh.
That means we can't teleport back directly.
"Alright, let's head out then. The sooner, the better," Fang Hao said, leading the Dragon Queen outside.
At the gate, Nisbit was still on guard, while the transmigrators continued hauling the corpses of Thunder-eating insects toward them.
Nearly two months had passed.
Both the transmigrators and the soldiers appeared somewhat bedraggled.
It wasn't that they were emaciated, but their spirits were visibly drained.
Each of them seemed devoid of energy.
If they stayed here much longer, a few might not make it.
Fang Hao glanced over and said, "Have the transmigrators over there gather up as well. We'll head back together."
"Yes, my lord." Nisbit immediately went to relay the order.
Hearing they could finally return, the transmigrators lit up with joy.
After about half an hour, they all assembled.
Falling in at the rear of the group, they began to head out.
As soon as they exited the Overlapping Space's entrance, they found a large troll encampment set up nearby.
When the group emerged, the trolls all turned to look at them in sync.
Their eyes glowed with both excitement and bloodlust.
But as soon as they spotted Fang Hao, the Dragon Queen, and the unusually shaped Nisbit,
their expressions shifted instantly to fear.
"Roar~!"
In the distance, a troll leader let out a loud bellow.
The group had expected the trolls to attack, but the next moment, the trolls turned tail and fled into the dense forest with a clatter.
Amidst the dim forest shadows, their large eyes could still be seen peeking cautiously in this direction.
No one bothered to chase them down.
There was no point in killing trolls now; they simply continued on their way.
The transmigrators followed closely behind.
"Sir, why did we stay so long, and why did we have to gather the corpses of these insects?" a transmigrator asked quietly on the way back.
By now, they had more or less confirmed Fang Hao's identity.
Who else but the one and only Fang Hao could command a god-tier heroine?
A level no one had even heard of before.
Moreover, his combat power was astounding—he could singlehandedly annihilate entire races without breaking a sweat.
Not to mention, he looked good too.
This kind of hero fulfilled all the ideals transmigrators dreamed of.
"Just a minor mission. Took longer than expected," Fang Hao replied casually.
"Ah, so you were here on a mission too. Were there giants inside? When we go back, we'll need to report to the trolls who assigned us the mission," the transmigrator pressed on.
Fang Hao gave him a glance.
The man immediately added, "If it's inconvenient to say, we won't ask."
"It's not that. I just want to warn you: when you get back, be wary of the ones who gave you the mission. There were indeed giants inside, but it was a trap. They intended to lure living souls in for something sinister, but I won't get into that. It's nothing good, anyway."
Hearing Fang Hao's words, they immediately recalled the massive lightning pillars and the overwhelming waves of fire they had witnessed in the Overlapping Space.
If they had been the ones to go in, they would've been obliterated without leaving a trace.
"To waste so much time on a mission, only to set us up for death?"
"That damnable old troll! When we get back, we'll make sure to kill him."
"Exactly! So many of our people died because of him. He deserves to pay!"
Raging with fury, the transmigrators erupted in indignation.
They had spent over half a year struggling with this mission, wasting manpower and resources, only for it to turn out to be a trap.
So many soldiers sacrificed, plus two months of being trapped.
All of it, they blamed on that old troll.
They vowed to settle the score with him upon their return.
After they had traveled far enough and judged the trolls wouldn't pursue them,
Fang Hao said plainly, "The rest of the way, you're on your own. We've got other matters, so we won't escort you further."
The area was already very safe. Following the road, they would soon reach the transmigrators' city.
They promptly expressed their gratitude, "Thank you, sir, ma'am! When we return, we'll transfer the money for the potions to you."
Fang Hao merely nodded in acknowledgment.
Once the transmigrators departed, Fang Hao activated a portal of light and teleported his group back to the main city.
As for the newly acquired Heart of the World's teleportation ability, he still needed to study it. Who knew where it might accidentally send someone?
...
Emerging from the portal of light, they were already back in the plaza in front of the Lord's Manor.
By coincidence, two maids happened to be passing by.
Seeing the group suddenly appear, they froze in place, wide-eyed.
"Eeek~!"
They let out a shriek and rushed forward. "Master, you've finally returned!"
It seemed Fang Hao's two-month absence had worried the residents of the main city considerably.
Before Fang Hao could say a word, the two maids suddenly stepped back, then bolted toward the manor.
Yelling at the top of their lungs, they cried, "Eira! Anjia! The master is back! He's alive, and his body's warm!"
Uh…
Fang Hao stood there, dumbfounded, unsure of what to say.
So they had reached into his clothes just to check for body heat?
"If you'd stayed away any longer, they might've gone searching for you themselves," the Dragon Queen remarked from the side.
"They're family; it's only natural for them to worry," Fang Hao explained.
Soon enough, there was a commotion as a horde of maids poured out of the manor, led by Anjia, Beata, and a distant Rolana.
With a flurry of excited chatter,
they swarmed around him, layer after layer.
It took Fang Hao numerous attempts to reassure the women before they finally calmed down.
Beata had intended to leap into Fang Hao's arms alongside the maids and act coquettish,
but upon seeing her mother present, she changed course mid-step and gave her a hug instead.
She expressed concern over her mother's well-being, but her eyes frequently darted to the side.
The Dragon Queen, touched, found solace in the fact that, while she didn't have maids fawning over her, she did have her daughter.
Far better than any maid, in her opinion.
...
After consoling the maids, Fang Hao returned to the Lord's Manor.
Sitting in the grand hall,
he was accompanied by the Dragon Queen, Rolana, the four black-armored sisters, Beata, Demitrija, and Anjia, who held the Red General in her arms.
Fang Hao glanced at them and recounted the events of the past two months in brief detail.
The heroes present all had Loyalty scores of 100, so there was no concern about revealing anything.
Once his story was finished,
the group showed varying degrees of unease.
To think someone had tried to take over Fang Hao's body, intending to live on as him.
If they had succeeded, the fates of everyone here would have fallen into that person's hands.
What might have happened then was too horrifying to imagine.
After explaining the ordeal, Fang Hao produced several Divinities and continued, "This adventure wasn't without its rewards; the loot was quite substantial."
The Crimson-level armor and weapons had already been privately divided between him and the Dragon Queen.
Now, he still had five Divinities to distribute.
One belonged to the Lord of Flame, an upper-level Divinity, while the other four were Demigod-level Divinities.
As the radiant light from the Divinities illuminated the room,
everyone's eyes were irresistibly drawn to them.
