Global Lords: Hundredfold Increments Starting With the Undead -
Chapter 1441 - 1011, The King of Elves
Hearing Rolana's words, Fang Hao's heart tightened.
Can she even pick up on that scent? How is that possible?
Suppressing the emotions in his heart, he wrapped his arm around her slender waist and replied, "Today, I went to the Fire Hammer Shop with the Dragon Queen and invited Brinston to Lyss City to teach. He refused, using the excuse that he feared assassination by the Undead."
Rolana didn't dwell on the matter of the scent either.
She countered, "Why would he risk being assassinated?"
The racial conflicts had never truly ceased, but they weren't severe enough for ordinary Dwarves to face assassination while traveling.
Seeing that she was no longer concerned about the scent of the Dragon Queen, Fang Hao directly explained, "It's still about the matter of the Immortal Emperor. Right now, the Undead think it was the Trade Alliance and the Dwarves. They're demanding they hand over the culprits."
"The Undead are blaming them for it?" Rolana was somewhat surprised as well.
"Yes, but it's good that the blame is on them. The more forces involved, the more the Undead Clan's energy gets divided." Fang Hao said, taking out a zero-level Divinity and adding, "I came over this time intending to give you a Divinity and see if the Blood Clan might have any need for it."
Unless something major occurred, Rolana rarely involved herself in the affairs of the Blood Clan.
Even when Isabella assigned tasks to her, Rolana usually wouldn't act on them.
She seemed to carry an attitude of "their concerns are theirs, and mine are mine."
Because of this, aside from Fang Hao helping her to improve, she had never asked for a Divinity from the Blood Clan.
In this respect, she was quite different from the Dragon Queen.
The Dragon Queen was the leader of the Dragon Clan, while Rolana behaved more like a married daughter intent on building her new home.
It was as if she thought, "I'm with Fang Hao now, and this is my home; the Blood Clan is merely a part of my racial heritage."
"Is it for my mother?"
Fang Hao took her hand and guided her to sit beside him on the bed. "It's up to you. This Divinity is yours to use as you wish. Whether for yourself or your mother, decide as you see fit."
Rolana thought for a moment, then nodded. "Alright, I'll ask my mother for her opinion later."
As she spoke, she accepted the Divinity from him and directly stored it in her storage space.
Then, she looked back at him. "Are you leaving tonight?"
"No, I'll stay and keep you company."
Rolana's lips curved up slightly. She gathered her long hair and tied it into a ponytail behind her head.
Fang Hao lay back on the bed, waiting for Rolana to lean into him.
...
The Elf Clan's Main City - Eternal Song Capital.
The brightly lit council hall.
Surrounding an elegantly designed, intricately detailed long table were twelve equally ornate chairs, carved with fine patterns.
Seated on each chair was an elf.
The elves conversed in hushed tones or sipped their drinks, all waiting.
Before long, echoing footsteps emerged from a dim corridor. Armed guards in gold armor, wielding long spears, escorted a golden-haired man into the room.
The man wore a long robe of royal purple and gold. His figure was elegant and upright, his golden hair bearing a crown formed from golden branches and leaves. His gray-blue eyes swept over everyone in attendance with a cold, calculating gaze.
Clatter!
All the elves present stood up in unison and respectfully said, "Your Majesty, the Elf King."
The man gave a slight nod before taking a seat at the head of the banquet table.
[King of the Deep Forest - Randell (Demigod)]
A true elf, king of the ancestors, ruler of the Elf Sacred Forest, protector of the entire realm, heart of the forest, and supreme commander of the Allied Forces of the Living—these illustrious titles and honors underscored the immense power of this Elf King.
After sitting down, Randell spoke directly, "Let's hear the matter you wanted to discuss."
On the left side of the table, Radiant Splendor Felica rose and said, "According to intelligence from the envoy, the Immortal Emperor of the Undead Desert was assassinated in the Trade Alliance's VIP lodge the day before yesterday."
Whoosh!
These words instantly sparked disorder and uproar.
"That's impossible."
"How could the Undead possibly allow the Immortal Emperor to travel to the Trade Alliance?"
"The intelligence these days is becoming more and more outrageous. How dare anyone bring up such absurd claims?"
Most present were skeptical of this information, going so far as to criticize the "Silvermoon Emissary" for providing increasingly exaggerated and unreliable reports.
The Immortal Emperor was too significant of a figure. Comparable to the Elf King Randell in standing, he was the leader of the Undead Clan.
For such an important figure to die outside his domain seemed implausible.
The Immortal Emperor's soul was far stronger than that of ordinary living heroes. Even if attacked in an ambush, his body perishing would not equate to the destruction of his soul.
Ordinary soul-capturing techniques wouldn't work on him at all.
To say nothing of him outright dying.
It was completely inconceivable.
Felica didn't rebut the doubts. She simply waited for the room to quiet down slightly before continuing, "The next leader will be the wandering spirit Demigod, Underworld Walker - Nala."
What?
Felica's calm statement made the elves who had just been voicing their criticisms furrow their brows.
Could it actually be true?
That would be utterly horrifying—for the leader of an entire clan to suddenly die.
Even the Elf King, sitting at the head of the table, allowed a glimmer of confusion and astonishment to flicker across his cold gaze.
At this point, the Elf King spoke up. "How are the Undead handling this?"
Felica continued, "The Undead Clan is currently pressuring the Trade Alliance and the Dwarves to surrender the assassins responsible. Presently, both the Trade Alliance and the Dwarves have started to limit their clans' movements to avoid retaliation from the Undead."
"So, it was the Trade Alliance and the Dwarves?"
But upon reflection, that didn't seem likely either.
Even assuming the individuals within those two factions had the power to commit the act, they wouldn't risk doing so so blatantly.
Were they not worried about the Undead retaliating?
In prior conflicts, it had always required the combined strength of Humans and Dwarves to take action against the Undead Desert.
It didn't seem likely the Dwarves would do something this reckless.
"The Trade Alliance claims it was a pair of Human lovers, but the Undead obviously do not accept this explanation. They continue to pressure both the Dwarves and the Trade Alliance," Felica leaned back in her chair, speaking calmly.
The death of the Immortal Emperor was shocking news to the entire world.
But for Felica, who had long moved past her initial shock, she now relished in watching the astonished expressions on the faces of those present.
"The Silvermoon Emissary has done an excellent job—the intelligence was gathered promptly," the Elf King first offered some praise before continuing, "Do we have any clues or hypotheses?"
Felica took a sip from her silver chalice of fruit wine before turning her head and saying, "Savana, you may answer His Majesty's question."
A graceful figure stepped out from the corner of the hall.
She bowed slightly to the assembly.
Then, in a soft voice, she said, "I have some theories regarding the Immortal Emperor's death, but no concrete evidence to support them."
"Ridiculous! How dare you present unproven conjectures here?" someone immediately rebuked.
Internal factions existed even within the Elf Clan.
Savana belonged to Felica's faction, and her appearance instantly drew criticisms from certain individuals.
Felica interjected, "Let her speak."
Savana continued, "If we try to analyze the death of the Immortal Emperor in isolation, it's indeed hard to determine the culprit. However, if we extend the timeline to encompass the past two months, a few significant patterns emerge."
Their gazes remained fixed on her.
"The Orc Clan leader died during their conflict with the Blood Clan," Savana said.
Everyone was aware of this.
But the cause was attributed to the skirmishes with the Blood Clan.
Trying to connect this to the death of the Immortal Emperor seemed like a stretch.
Savana elaborated, "Additionally, the leader of the Trolls has also died. The current leader of the Trolls is the Dark Gold Hero known as the Mad Titan. And now, with the Immortal Emperor… don't you think it suggests something?"
At this, the previously indifferent individuals visibly changed their expressions.
How could they fail to discern the implications now?
The successive deaths of three leaders were impossible to ignore. There had to be a deeper conspiracy—someone was deliberately targeting the leaders of different races, be it through plotting or assassination.
Even the gaze of the Elf King grew sharper, though his tone remained measured. "What clues do we have?"
"The Troll territories impose heavy restrictions on transmigrators, so intelligence is still being gathered. However, the Orc territories have provided some findings." Savana cast a glance at the Elf King before continuing, "Within the Orc temple, several new statues have been erected—statues that are inconsistent with traditional Orc beliefs, yet somehow managed to be placed within the main sanctuary."
"Oh? Which deities?"
Savana took a deep breath, her gaze growing equally grave in that instant. "The transmigrator Fang Hao, the Dragon Queen, and the new Blood Clan Demigod."
The transmigrator?
The Dragon Queen? And a newly ascended Blood Clan Demigod?
Well now, this was intriguing—three newcomers whose statues had found a place in the main Orc sanctuary.
The Orc King himself hadn't been granted such symbolism, yet these three statues stood there.
"State your thoughts," the Elf King commanded directly.
Savana nodded, "I suspect that the transmigrator Fang Hao—perhaps even the Dragon Queen—may have already become deities and are directly or indirectly tied to the deaths of these three leaders."
"That's absurd…" someone instinctively blurted out.
Becoming a god was exceedingly rare. While some individuals might reach Demigod status, fully ascending to godhood was an entirely different matter. No one had ever achieved it—not to mention the possibility that the transmigrator and the Dragon Queen might both have done so.
"Regardless of the truth, the transmigrator Fang Hao, as well as the Dragon Clan and Blood Clan, must now become high-priority targets for intelligence gathering," Savana said seriously.
The Elf King propped his chin on his hand without speaking, while Felica leaned in and whispered a few words into his ear.
The Elf King's brow arched slightly as his gaze returned to Savana, standing by her place.
He nodded approvingly before addressing one of the attendants, "Add an additional chair at the end of the table."
The attendant quickly departed and returned moments later, accompanied by two guards carrying an ornate chair.
They placed it at the far end of the right side of the table.
The Elf King then declared, "Savana, from now on, you will sit there. You will continue to oversee intelligence collection regarding the transmigrator and investigate the deaths of the three leaders."
A wave of surprise swept through the others present; their gazes flitted between the Elf King and Savana, who was now seated in the newly placed chair.
The Elf Clan hadn't added a new council seat in over a century, and now it had given one to a human-aligned transmigrator's investigator.
What in the world was happening today?
It was as if some chain reaction had been set off, with major events cascading one after another.
"Your Majesty, may I employ some necessary methods?" Savana asked.
"You may."
Savana nodded, falling silent after that.
The Elf King then began discussions on internal matters of the Elf Clan with the remaining council members.
