Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle -
Chapter 663 - 663: Ambush
The group of Spitter Zombies had a bad position…
"Damn it. That's the route Asad's forces are supposed to take. It's as if they're setting up a blockade to stop his approach." Ibrahim frowned.
He needed to kill those Spitter Zombies, so Asad could easily move and lure the Zombie Lords.
Without hesitation, he turned to his crew in the Hellfire Truck.
"Rotate turrets—angle 210 degrees. Burn those bastards down."
The truck roared as the turret spun and opened fire.
Just like that, streams of tracer rounds cut across the valley. This move easily shredded the first line of Spitter Zombies. Still, many of their acid spit exploded mid-air in bursts of corrosive fluid.
Flamethrowers kicked in, igniting the underbrush and torching several of the creatures that tried to scatter.
But more were coming.
"I need the Stormbreaker in firing position! We need to punch a lane through before Asad gets here!"
The Stormbreaker Tank-Hunter moved smoothly over the rocky ground and slid into position behind a rocky slope.
Then, its railgun started to charge…
Ibrahim watched as it glowed faintly with unstable blue energy.
'It still looks as beautiful as ever…' Ibrahim thought as he looked at the charging energy… From what he heard, this technology came from the old civilization. It was unfortunate that it didn't go through mass production because the Zombies had quickly swarmed the continent.
After a few moments, the railgun was ready…
BZZZZ-THOOM!
A single blast vaporized a cluster of Spitters and shattered the rock formation they were using as cover.
Ibrahim's voice came over the comms again.
"We're holding for now, but this wasn't part of the original plan. These Spitters were lying in wait. As if someone coordinated them. We have to make sure that there will be no issues…"
As he said this, Ibrahim held his rifle…
His eyes noticed some movement near the far edge of the valley.
Then, his HUD blinked.
[ Undead Signatures Detected – Large Class. Incoming: Zombie Lords ]
This HUD had given them access to a few of Cloud's super abilities. It was truly helpful during these times.
He then slowly exhaled while holding his rifle…
As for the revolver that Shane had given to him, it was still too early to use that, and if possible, he hoped that he wouldn't have to draw it.
"Looks like the guests of honor are almost here…" Ibrahim muttered.

Asad didn't just bring the two Zombie Lords, they were also followed by hundreds of other Zombies and it was a terrifying scene.
Vespa the Drowned Monarch and Ken the Skinner were moving close together as if they wanted to ensure that they could protect each other from harm.
Well, they knew what happened to Krogh after all.
They even had to work together in order to force Asad away from his shelter. They had already sacrificed so much and they needed to end this as quickly as possible.
"You're not going anywhere, Necromancer!" Vespa roared seeing that Asad was helplessly moving away with his Skeleton Scorpion.
The area he was fleeing to had a narrow path… By now, the Spitter Zombies should be there waiting for Asad. Once he got closer, a rain of acid spit would surely surprise Asad's group!
Vespa wanted to be the one to eat up Asad… She had sacrificed more Zombies under her command during this whole battle. It was something she didn't expect as she believed that Asad's force had already dwindled after his battle against the Krogh.
However, Asad simply had too many strong Undead Creatures.
"Hahaha! You're mine…"
As a Zombie Lord, Vespa seemed to hover more than she walked, with so much water around her.
She looked bloated and her skin was filled with barnacle-like crust on her body…
Right now, her face was like a drowned woman with eyeless sockets.
Ken, on the other hand, moved like a bloated Tyrant Zombie holding cleavers in his hands...
He was tall—over nine feet—and had stitched-up skin giving him the appearance of a man rebuilt through some sort of illegal experiment.
Aside from that, Ken had hooks that dangled from his shoulders. His cleaver was even larger than a man… It was still stained with fresh blood from his last victims and he was simply looking at the necromancer's summons.
While Vespa wanted Asad, he actually wanted the Undead Summons. To be exact, he wanted the authority to control them.
He didn't know if it was possible but he was interested in controlling such powerful creatures.
***
In front of them, Asad already unsummoned his Skeleton Scorpion and started running instead.
Apparently, the Scorpion was already on the brink of collapse and was moving too slowly for him.
"Shane… You've sent them, right?" Asad muttered to himself, hoping that Shane had truly sent some ambushers into the Greenshade Valley.
Even if they failed to kill the Zombie Lords, it should buy him enough time to escape, and hopefully, he would have the time to create a summoning circle in order to summon more Undead Beings.
After all, he had already used everything within the Grimoire. The Skeleton King, Mummy Lord, and his Wraith Queen were his last high-ranking summons.
Currently, his robes were torn. There was also blood dripping in his arms. He was truly weak at this point.
"But if the messenger failed to deliver the letter…" Asad muttered as he looked at his summons.
Behind him was the Mummy Lord. This creature was wrapped in ancient glyph-covered bandages.
One could only see his eyes glowing with hatred. He was also carrying a cursed staff, ready to defend his master in case the Zombie Lords started using strange attacks.
Aside from him, the Skeleton King was clad in black armor while dragging a colossal great hammer behind him. This summon had the strongest power among the three, and even the Zombie Lords wouldn't want to take his attack head-on.
Finally, there was the Wraith Queen.
This wraith still looked graceful… Still, its figure seemed to be cloaked in dark veils… Her eyes had some sort of dark magic and any low-tier Zombies that faced her would be in a trance and easily killed.
Unfortunately, all three of them were already wounded. Their aura had already dimmed and their running pace had also gone a lot slower.
After all, Asad could no longer supply them with deathly energy as he was already lacking after almost 20 hours of battle. It was simply too much for him.
As he was getting closer to the pinpointed location, he was already getting nervous. He couldn't sense signs of ambushers after all.
Still, he wanted to believe in Shane.
"Come on, Shane… I did my part. They're right behind me." As he got closer and closer, Asad started feeling restless.
Vespa shrieked behind him, and it wasn't just a simple voice… It contained power that disrupted their internal organs…
However, Asad's eyes lit up as soon as he saw a bunch of Spitter Zombies scattered on the ground!
Someone killed them!
At this point, he knew that help had come!
"Run, necromancer. Your bones will decorate my throne…" Vespa shouted.
Ken simply laughed as he knew that Vespa wasn't lying at all.
Nonetheless, Asad didn't care…
Soon, he crossed the invisible threshold—the spot he had marked on the map, where Cloud had also predicted the perfect convergence point.
He whispered to his undead, commanding them to slow, stall, and bait the enemy into the kill zone.
"Please… let it be ready."
***
Soon, Ibrahim's HUD flashed red as Cloud confirmed the target signatures.
[ Vespa the Drowned Monarch – Confirmed ]
[ Ken the Skinner – Confirmed ]
After that, they no longer hesitated.
"ALL UNITS—ENGAGE!"
In just a moment, the valley erupted with gunfire.
The Stormbreaker's railgun lit up and created a blue line!
Boom!
Its projectile pierced through the air faster than sound. The blast slammed into Vespa's midsection, shattering her watery body!
This sent her crashing against the cliff wall!
Bang!
The Hellfire Gunner Truck spun its turrets… Its rounds were filled with explosive bullets so truly tore into Ken's chest.
Dozens of rounds struck their targets at that moment.
Each one ignited with incendiary payloads, ripping through layers of Ken's stitched flesh!
"Ahahaha! Die! You son of—" Asad laughed hysterically as he saw the ambush that Shane had prepared for the Zombie Lords!
He didn't even finish laughing as the attack continued!
From both flanks, the Specter Recon Bikes started closing in…
They actually started dropping anti-personnel mines and vanishing under their cloaks… It was a hit-and-run tactic as the mines detonated just as Ken charged forward!
Shrapnel blasted the Zombie Lord's legs and chest, and it staggered the huge Zombies for a moment.
Vespa also wailed after being struck by numerous projectiles that came out of nowhere. She then summoned a tidal wave of corrupted water to retaliate, but it was too late!
"Flamethrowers, now!" Ibrahim commanded.
The Hellfire Trucks had already gone closer, and soon, their side arrays ignited... They started releasing twin rivers of flame down the slope!
