Chapter 95: Why was she here

Alex looked at the chubby little boy in front of him, analyzing that this must be the so-called "master" of Taekwondo whom Emma had described as both fat and lame.

He stared at Kenny and nodded.

Emma’s description was spot on.

Noticing that Alex wasn’t scared and was even sizing him up, Kenny turned red with anger and pointed to the door.

"Larry’s coming soon; you will get beaten up for sure!"

Following Kenny’s finger, Alex saw Larry approaching quickly.

He thought for a moment, coming to a conclusion that this boy must be the one who had been bullying Emma.

He clenched his fist, ready to teach Larry a lesson once he attacked.

On the other hand, Kenny was still fueling the fire on the side.

"He’s here, he’s here!"

But the next second, he was dumbfounded.

This was because instead of beating up Alex, Larry smiled broadly and took out a small cake.

"Master, this is freshly made by our private chef this morning. I especially brought it for you to taste."

Alex almost couldn’t retract his clenched fist.

He replied calmly, "No, thank you."

Hearing this, Larry quickly stuffed the cake into Kenny’s arms.

"If you don’t want it, then it’s alright. Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll get it for you. Dad said if you want to show respect to a master, you should... what was it again? Cater to their preferences!"

Kenny was dumbfounded.

"Larry, didn’t you say you would back me up? Why are you helping her instead?!"

Larry pointed at Kenny and said loudly, "You threatened me into agreeing to cover for you, which was horrible. I won’t help you anymore!"

Alex was getting a headache from these two childish kids. He walked into the classroom, looking for Logan, whom Emma had mentioned.

After scanning the room, his eyes landed on a pale-skinned, gentle-looking, and quiet little boy in the corner.

It seemed like he was Logan.

He walked over and sat next to him.

"I heard you like Emma, no, you really like me?"

Logan was surprised by his words before nodding gently.

Emma’s resilience and lively demeanor were qualities he never had.

Moreover, she never seemed to be bothered that he was boring or weak, always actively

playing with him and constantly showing that she liked him.

In this class, he liked her the most.

However, the "Emma" today seemed a little angry after seeing him nod.

"Emma, did I do something wrong?"

"No, but I have a few questions for you. Have you won any awards? What’s your level in foreign languages? How good are you at Olympiad math?"

‘If he isn’t good at any of these, then why does he deserve my sister’s affection?’

Logan lowered his eyes sadly.

"I didn’t achieve any of those."

Growing up sick all the time, surviving was already an achievement for him—he had no energy to focus on learning those other things.

‘Is Emma asking all of this because she dislikes me?’

However, hearing this answer brought an inexplicable relief to Alex.

‘If he didn’t reach all those things, then Emma would still like me the most!’

Thinking this, he handed over the snacks Larry had brought to Logan.

"No worries; eating more will make you stronger."

A casual reassurance deeply moved Logan. All the way until returning home after school, he didn’t eat those snacks but instead kept them in his backpack for safekeeping.

After school, Niki promptly appeared at the school gate.

Opportunities that Cecilia didn’t want were the ones she dreamed of, so she was very excited every time she came to pick Emma up.

But despite waiting, Emma wasn’t showing up at all.

Larry was the last one to be picked up from school after Emma and Alex.

His mom, Olive Foster, was always the last to pick him up, so he got used to it.

When Olive arrived, she would honk her car as usual, with Larry quickly getting into the car before they would leave.

But today, after honking twice, Larry still hadn’t gotten in the car. He was waiting for Emma to say goodbye to her.

Olive had no choice but to get out of her car, only to see Niki looking anxious. She was stunned, then put on her hat and took Larry away.

Inside the car, she kept glancing at Niki through the rearview mirror.

Why was she here?

Meanwhile, in the kindergarten, Alex was looking at the sleeping Emma with a face full of helplessness.

The elite class was so boring for her that she had finally reached the end of school for today, but she ended up falling asleep on her desk.

He usually returned home late, so he wasn’t in a rush. He sat by her side, keeping an eye on her while reading a book.

However, he didn’t expect Steven to come early today. After having waited at the entrance for a long time, he noticed Alex still had not come out yet and decided to go into the school.

Niki also followed inside, worried about Emma.
