Chapter 92: Sudden change
It was a call from Mona. John answered, hoping his wife had some results from her investigation.
"Hi, Honey. Do you have any good news for me?" he asked.
On the other side of the line, Mona’s voice was filled with frustration.
"Good news, my foot! The kid you asked me to investigate is Steven’s child!"
John was taken aback. "Which Steven? Isn’t her surname Morrison..."
"Which Steven? The CEO of Lawrence Group! Who cares what the child’s name is? I’m telling you, I don’t care what issues you have with this kid; you need to forget about it right this instant! If anything happens to her, you can just wait for me to kick you out of the Anderson family!"
John almost dropped his phone in shock. Emma was Steven Lawrence’s child?!
Thinking of this, he hurried toward Kenny as he tried to stop him from attacking.
On the other hand, Emma had realized that Kenny wasn’t merely training with her. He was taking this chance to attack her on purpose.
She decisively threw away the cushion she was holding before quickly dodging. Then, she kicked him from behind.
Kenny fell to the ground with a thud.
The other kids were stunned.
He struggled to get up, wiping his nose as he felt a handful of blood coming from it. He began crying loudly.
The other kids saw John approaching and tapped Emma nervously.
"Oh no, Emma. Mr. Brut definitely won’t let you get away with this..."
"Mr. Brut is so scary when he’s mad, boohoo..."
Emma saw John approaching her menacingly, clenching her fists.
She wasn’t afraid!
She had done nothing wrong!
John reached the two, seeing Emmma unharmed and Kenny with a bloody nose. He let out a long sigh of relief.
"As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters..."
Hearing this, Kenny felt even more wronged.
"Dad, what are you saying? She kicked me and left me with a nosebleed. You have to get revenge for me!"
John glared at him. "With that crazy temper you have, a little blood will help you cool down. Stop crying!"
As she said that, Kenny cried even louder.
"Mom... I want Mom..."
John ignored Kenny, but he looked at Emma with a flattering smile.
"Emma."
His sudden change in attitude astonished the other kids, leaving their mouths wide open.
"Do you want to go to the province for the competition? There’s a spot reserved just for you, so you don’t have to be an alternate."
He had chosen the competition participants a few days ago, and unsurprisingly, Emma was an alternate.
"No, thank you."
With that, she ignored his ugly expression as she turned around and sat on a small stool. Then, she began chatting with the boy next to her.
She wasn’t interested in the competition at all; she only practiced Taekwondo just to stay fit. She would train when she wanted to, and no one could force her if she didn’t feel like it.
Moreover, she would rather use her energy to play with the cute boy next to her.
On the other hand, John struggled to regain his composure. He knew many influential families wanted that spot, but Steven’s child was truly something else—she turned down such a good opportunity so easily.
Emma had no idea what he was thinking, continuing to cheerfully chat with the boy next to her.
The cute boy’s name was Logan. Rumor had it he had a heart condition and couldn’t engage in intense physical activities; hence, he didn’t participate in Taekwondo training. Every class, he would quietly sit in the corner and watch them.
She couldn’t say the reason behind it, but she particularly liked him. She thought about it, guessing that this must be what books would describe as "feeling deep pity."
After class, Emma was reluctant to part with Logan. However, the classroom suddenly turned noisy. Before she realized what was happening, a taller boy was standing right in front of her.
"I’m Larry from the senior class. Are you Emma?"
She nodded.
"I heard you bullied Kenny, the kid under my care, and even gave him a nosebleed?"
"Yes, so what?"
Seeing as she had admitted to it, he clenched his fists and stepped forward.
