Chapter 32: Kidnapping
Chapter 32: Kidnapping
When Alex woke up again, he found three fierce-looking men standing in front of him.
Seeing that Alex had woken up, the big, fat man in the lead spat out the betel nut from his mouth..
"You’re finally awake, little brat."
Alex had been taught anti-kidnapping tactics since a young age and how to rescue himself if kidnapped, so he wasn’t particularly surprised when faced with these three men and the rope binding him.
However, he was still a four-year-old kid, and it was impossible not to be afraid.
Trying to look calm, he scanned his surroundings.
It seemed to be a residential building under construction.
Star City recently entered its rainy season, making construction stop temporarily. This contributed to why this place was deserted.
These three men looked like workers from the construction site.
If he tried to escape, he wouldn’t be able to outrun them.
Alex tried to remain calm. "My dad has a lot of money. Whatever you want, he can give it to you."
The fat man chuckled twice, seeming quite happy with Alex’s response.
In contrast, the tall and skinny man by his side spoke up as a reminder.
"Boss, the employer wanted us to have this kid..."
As he spoke, he made a throat-cutting gesture across his neck.
"Are we really going to do this?"
The fat man hit the tall, skinny one on his hard hat.
"She only offered a little money. Am I stupid enough to get into murder over such a small sum? I was just planning to cheat some money out of her!"
Hearing this, Alex felt slightly relieved.
"My dad can give you lots of money."
The fat man took out his phone. "Give me your dad’s phone number..."
Before he could finish, his phone suddenly rang. Alex glanced at the phone number displayed on his screen and silently memorized it.
Answering the call, the fat man said, "Miss, we’ve kidnapped the child. But if you want him dead, we’ll need extra pay. Otherwise, I’ll just approach his dad directly."
An angry female voice came through the phone, "You idiots, she’s a bastard. Where would she get a dad?!"
The fat man was infuriated, ending the call in frustration. "How dare you trick me, you little girl!"
At that moment, Alex also realized that these men had kidnapped the wrong child. They were initially targeting his sister Emma!
Before he could speak, police sirens suddenly wailed from downstairs.
The tall, skinny man looked panicked. "Boss, the police are downstairs. He... he called them!"
The three men immediately tensed up, ignoring Alex and scattering in different directions.
When Alex saw them flee, he quickly turned off the alarm on his watch that mimicked police sirens.
His dad had always made him wear this watch, and it turned out to be useful.
He twisted the watch, preparing to call his mom. However, a shadow suddenly fell over him.
He looked up to see a woman wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, staring at him intensely.
It was Sophie Morrison.
Alex felt a different kind of feeling from this woman compared to the three men earlier.
It was hatred.
Just as he was about to run, she suddenly grabbed his neck.
"Those three useless idiots! In the end, I’ll have to do it myself!"
Her voice was exactly the same as the one on the fat man’s phone.
Alex struggled, but as Sophie lifted him, his strength gradually faded.
Boom—
A thunderclap rang outside, followed by a heavy downpour.
Sophie dragged Alex to the balcony.
The unfinished balcony had no railing, below being a drop of over ten stories.
"Let... let go of me..."
Alex was terrified, desperately slapping at Sophie’s arm, which was gripping him.
However, Sophie seemed to have gone mad.
"Is your name Emma?"
Alex shook his head continuously, rainwater blurring his vision as it splashed in.
"Anyway, It doesn’t matter. You’re just a bastard, and I’ll remove you from this world now. That way, your mother will suffer!
"She made me suffer, so I’ll pay it back a thousandfold!"
Saying so, she suddenly let go, and Alex quickly fell down!
"Emma!"
Perhaps it was a hallucination, but Alex heard Cecilia’s anxious voice right before he passed out.
Cecilia and Bruce arrived, with the latter running desperately to the spot where Alex had fallen.
Fortunately, there was a terrace below with ropes left by the workers during construction.
Alex had only suffered minor injuries and fainted from the shock.
"Get him to the hospital!"
Just as Cecilia left, a loud brake screeched in the rain. Steven stepped out of the car under an umbrella, his face dark.
"Alex!"
