Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge -
Chapter 30: Gift
Chapter 30: Gift
Emma wore a mask and a hat, so Sophie could only discern her figure.
She felt like she had met this child before.
It was Steven who had ordered Emma to put on a mask.
He always refused to bring his son with him in public, especially when it came to handling irritating issues like this.
After all, the Lawrences had many stalkers and enemies.
For a family like them, kidnapping was a common occurrence.
He couldn’t let Alex’s safety be in danger.
Seeing Sophie still observing Emma, Steven handed Zane the child.
"Are you deaf? Answering the question!"
Sophie snapped back to reality and quickly explained, "She humiliated me publicly before, so I..."
As she explained, she was overcome with hatred and slowly gritted her teeth. “It’s also her fault that Samuel’s ignoring me! I want to make her pay with death, just like her dead mom—"
Before she could finish her words, Steven went and kicked her hard, and she was unable to get up from the ground for a while.
Then, he gestured for Zane to take Emma away.
After Zane left, Sophie’s terrified pleas echoed from behind.
Zane grinned as he carried Emma. "Do you want some cupcakes?"
Emma nodded and replied, "Yes!"
When they passed by the studio, Emma wanted to hug Cecilia. She wanted to reassure Cecilia that everything would be okay, since Daddy had already avenged her.
However, she held herself back as she recalled Alex’s long-term plan.
Inside the studio, Cecilia finally recomposed herself.
She took a deep breath, pulling away from Bruce’s hug. "Thank you."
Initially thinking she wouldn’t be affected by anything, she now realized she was still grieving over her mother’s death.
It was time to go back to that place and have a look.
Bruce wanted to say something but suddenly got a message.
When he checked his phone, his expression slowly turned cold.
She noticed this and reassured him, "You can go if you have important matters to deal with. I’m okay now."
He looked at her worriedly and nodded.
After that, Cecilia returned to the hotel. When she opened the door, she saw Alex with a serious look on his face. He hugged her tightly and said, "Mommy, I love you."
Emma had told Alex everything that happened in the studio that day.
Knowing what Cecilia just went through and her current emotions, he didn’t want to talk about the matter and make her sad again.
Therefore, he decided to help her regain energy in his own way.
Cecilia picked him up, gently kissing him on the face.
On the other hand, Alex took out a ring. "Mommy, I have a gift for you."
She was surprised and she asked, "Where did you get this?"
"Your birthday’s around the corner, so I bought this with the money I saved.”
Cecilia inspected the ring carefully; it had a tiny heartbeat engraved onto it.
It was certainly elegant.
She put the ring on her middle finger and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, my little angel."
When Steven returned home, it was completely dark out.
At that moment, Sophie had been sent to the hospital.
He pulled off his sweat-soaked suit and jumped into the infinity pool.
After swimming for a bit, he looked up and saw Emma squatting by the poolside. She rested her chin on her hands as she watched him.
Steven swam over and pinched her cheek, asking, "Did I scare you earlier?"
She shook her head. "You were really cool today, Daddy!"
He affectionately ruffled Emma’s hair.
Emma reached into her pocket and said with a peculiar look, "Daddy, get out of the pool first. I have a gift for you~"
Curious, Steven left the pool and wrapped a towel around himself.
She carefully uncovered her palm, revealing a delicate ring on it.
It was a matching set with Cecilia’s, having the same design.
Steven was a little surprised.
Emma took the ring and grabbed his hand, quickly slipping it onto his middle finger.
It was a perfect fit.
"Daddy, I wanted to show gratitude for you being my dad. You’re not allowed to take it off, okay~"
Steven was touched. He observed the ring, quietly vowing to never take it off.
After finishing her mission, Emma carefully played with the water near the poolside.
Unlike her swimming champion brother, she had a major fear of water.
Sigh, life really was unfair.
However, just as she retreated, Steven suddenly grabbed her. "You don’t want to play in the pool today? Come on! Let’s race and see who reaches the other side first!"
With that, he began pulling her into the water.
Emma yelled in surprise, "Daddy, no!"
