Chapter 756

Chapter 756: Chapter 756

When Jiang Meiren heard Zhang Yang was being framed as a murderer, she immediately flew into a rage.

From that day onward, all clubs, bars, and other entertainment venues shut down completely.

Even internet cafes, arcade halls, and hair salons closed their doors.

Soon after, many debtors received repayment calls on that same day.

Not just individuals with personal loans, but also major corporate bosses were targeted.

Xu Mengyan couldn’t quite understand the sequence of events—she had assumed Jiang Meiren would clash head-on with the Harmonious Society Management Association Center.

But what’s with this model citizen act?

Jiang Meiren directly brought Xu Mengyan to a café and sat down, conveniently located right across from the Harmonious Society Management Association Center.

"So, tell me—what exactly are you trying to do here?"

"Haha, you think the good public order we have now is solely thanks to the Harmonious Society Management Association’s efforts?"

"Sure, that’s part of it, but don’t underestimate how many unstable characters there are in society—the ones who vent their frustrations at internet cafés, arcade halls, bars, and KTV clubs, or even within private clubs."

"When all those entertainment establishments shut down, what do you think these people will do? They won’t stay quietly at home—they’ll spill out into the streets in droves."

"And when all those restless individuals mingle together, conflicts are bound to erupt nonstop."

"As for those debtors being pressured into repayment—cornered with no way out, what do you think they’ll resort to?"

"I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a slew of major incidents today. Jewelers, banks—tsk, tsk—it’s been a while since anyone dared to target them, hasn’t it?"

Xu Mengyan stared at Jiang Meiren, frozen in shock, her mind racing with fear at the implications.

Within the time it took to finish a cup of coffee, ten or more vehicles mobilized from the Harmonious Society Management Association headquarters.

Xu Mengyan gave Jiang Meiren a thumbs-up, and Jiang Meiren grinned, "Your husband got lucky this time. Tell him—if he’s willing to cooperate, I’ll help him reclaim the chairman’s seat."

"That new chairman—does he really think he can rule the roost? I called him earlier, and he dared to yell at me. This time, I’ll see if he’s got the guts to do it again."

Xu Mengyan chuckled, "Alright, I’ll call Guo Qiyu to check his stance—and to make sure he realizes Zhang Yang isn’t someone anyone can mess with."

Guo Qiyu, after receiving the call, grasped Jiang Meiren’s intentions instantly.

Without hesitation, he agreed to cooperate and went ahead to meet Zhang Yang.

Moments later, Guo Qiyu relayed information back to Jiang Meiren—suggesting they start investigating the Xu Family’s eldest son.

"The Xu Family’s eldest?" Jiang Meiren paused, then turned to Xu Mengyan.

Xu Mengyan furrowed her brows too. "The Xu Family was abandoned by my family ages ago. I don’t have any ties to them."

It seemed clear that Xu Mengyan knew far more than she let on.

Jiang Meiren quipped, "Looks like you’re not very valued in your family, Miss Heiress. Go find out what’s happening at home."

With a grim face, Xu Mengyan continued making calls, only to hang up looking even more frustrated.

"What’s wrong? Not getting through?" Jiang Meiren asked.

Xu Mengyan nodded. "They won’t let me interfere in this matter. They even claimed Zhang Yang is a major threat—apparently, lots of people are out to get him now."

Jiang Meiren sneered, "The Xu Family and the Guo Family may have their bases overseas, but they’ve got their hands stretched way too far. Sister, don’t blame me for being merciless to your Xu Family this time."

Xu Mengyan nodded. "Saving Zhang Yang is the priority; we’ll deal with everything else later. I’ll have a proper conversation with them when the time comes."

Jiang Meiren didn’t waste time and immediately began organizing her plans—starting with targeting Fourth Brother Zhao, who operated under Martial World’s jurisdiction.

The catch was, Fourth Brother Zhao was currently locked up in a small detention room, adding layers of difficulty for Jiang Meiren’s approach.

Nonetheless, Jiang Meiren remained calm—as long as Zhang Yang didn’t confess, there’d still be chances.

Meanwhile, in one of the high-level offices within the Harmonious Society Management Association Center, a middle-aged man listened to the reports coming in, his expression dark and angry.

"Notify those entertainment venues immediately—they need to reopen and return to normal operations. If not, they’ll be done for in the future."

"Chairman, none of the owners are willing to reopen today. Some even claimed their establishments won’t operate for several days to come," reported a subordinate.

"Outrageous! Have they grown tired of living? I didn’t go after them, and they dare challenge me like this?"

"Chairman, it was the Jiang Family that stepped in. They control 90% of the city’s entertainment industry—and losing a few billion doesn’t faze them at all."

New Chairman Gao Jie’s face grew increasingly grim as he recalled receiving a call from someone who claimed to be Jiang Meiren earlier.

But Gao Jie hadn’t taken Jiang Meiren seriously at the time. He thought these businesses ought to act per his wishes.

Then came further reports from his subordinates: "Chairman, our phones are about to explode with calls. Plus, the bank on South Road was just robbed—there are injuries at the scene."

"Chairman, several jewelry stores were looted, and people have been kidnapped for ransom as well."

"Chairman, we’ve got an urgent call from above."

Gao Jie’s face turned even darker—the higher-ups had been alerted, forcing him to act cautiously.

After answering the call, Gao Jie repeatedly promised a swift resolution to the issues.

But hanging up, his expression shifted to a sinister grimace. "Has Zhang Yang confessed yet?"

"No, he hasn’t."

Gao Jie’s voice turned cold, "Make him suffer a little. I’ll meet him in half an hour—but remember, don’t leave any marks."

His subordinates hesitated before speaking up: "Chairman Gao, Zhang Yang isn’t someone we can afford to mess with lightly. He has connections to a top leader."

"Which top leader?" Gao Jie demanded.

"Liang Hongwei!"

Gao Jie’s expression shifted immediately—his earlier confidence wavering. "Fine, I’ll meet Zhang Yang right now."

For the first time, Gao Jie felt the weight of the situation—it wasn’t just a simple case, as he had initially believed. If executed successfully, it could win support from influential figures.

But now, Gao Jie found himself overwhelmed by pressure.

Soon, Gao Jie arrived in front of Zhang Yang, dismissing other people from the room.

Looking at the unfamiliar man before him, Zhang Yang smirked. "So, you’re the new chairman? Tell me—which puppet master are you serving?"

Gao Jie narrowed his eyes and let out a cold snort. "Zhang Yang, we’ve got witnesses and evidence against you. Why won’t you plead guilty?"

"I didn’t kill anyone. Why should I plead guilty?" Zhang Yang retorted.

"You don’t have to confess—it doesn’t matter. The witnesses and evidence are enough; no amount of arguing will change that," Gao Jie said grimly.

"If that’s the case, why bother seeking me out?" Zhang Yang chuckled lightly.

Gao Jie leaned forward and lowered his voice. "I came here to offer you a deal—plead guilty, and we’ll grant you leniency. What do you say? Think it over carefully; this chance won’t come again."
