Zhang Yang was taken aback. He hadn’t expected Xu Caimei to come find him at the hospital.

It must’ve been Xu Guangzhi who told her about his situation.

"I’ll come find you. Wait for me there," Zhang Yang said as he headed toward the garden.

Soon enough, he spotted Xu Caimei sitting alone in a pavilion, staring blankly at the flowers in front of her.

Zhang Yang walked over and gently patted Xu Caimei on the shoulder.

"What’s on your mind?"

Startled, Xu Caimei turned to see Zhang Yang. Her smile carried a trace of forced cheer. "You’re here. Sit down quickly. I brought a lot of dishes—there’s even a portion for the little nurse, Qian Xiaorui."

"Thanks, I’ll eat. Qian Xiaorui is already eating," Zhang Yang said before sitting down. The food Xu Caimei brought was indeed plentiful, enough for four or five people.

But Xu Caimei had no appetite; her gaze instead remained fixed on Zhang Yang.

But upon hearing his words, Xu Caimei looked aggrieved and said, "Zhang Yang, why can you accept someone like Qian Xiaorui, whom you’ve just met, but not me?"

"Is it because you think I don’t like you enough? Or do I annoy you somehow?"
