Chapter 50: Training(Part-3)
They were nothing else but shackles for both hands and legs. Seeing them, Apollo immediately remembered the weight training in many anime and manga, but he didn’t say anything, as he was waiting for the explanation.
"You should be confused seeing them, but they are not ordinary items."
"The shackles that you are seeing are made from ’Hell stone’, a very rare and precious stone that is used to suppress powerful people."
"The Hell Stone had a very powerful ability to absorb any kind of energy in the world. It can absorb life force, mana, or even death energy."
"It consumes energy like a voracious beast, rendering even the mightiest individuals in the limit-breaker realm powerless against it."
"And now you are going to wear them 24*7, whether you are eating, sleeping, or taking a dump; you have to wear them all the time."
He had a hunch that the shackles possessed certain abilities, and his intuition proved correct. While this type of occurrence was not new to him, having read similar scenarios in novels or manga, a smile crept onto his face as he realized he was about to embark on a similar journey.
But he still asked a question, which made him confused a bit.
"Master, you mentioned that even the limit-breaker powerhouse cannot gather any energy in it, so doesn’t that mean it will also absorb all of my energy in seconds as compared to those powerful warriors I am too weak?"
"Don’t worry, the pair you are going to wear is different, and the amount of ’Hell Stone’ used in it is so miniscule that even people below the limit breaker stage can wear it without getting sucked dry."
"Come try and tell me how you feel."
Apollo quickly came to Old Man, who gave him the shackles.
"Careful, they are heavy; each piece weighs a ton." But he effortlessly lifted the shackles without a problem.
As soon as he laid his hands on the shackles, he sensed his life force being gradually drained by them.
It wasn’t fast, but it still made him uncomfortable. He didn’t whine and quickly wore them on both hands and feet.
Now he was weighing more than four tons because of the four shackles on his body, while his life force was continuously being sucked dry.
"So, how are you feeling?"
Master Aaron inquired, knowing that most individuals below the limit breaker stage would struggle to even lift, let alone wear, those shackles. Initially, he doubted that this ancient training technique was meant for humans, but upon witnessing Apollo, he started to believe the ancient tales of geniuses who once walked the Rion.
"It’s all good, just a little uncomfortable."
Apollo felt nothing much; the weight of shackles wasn’t much for his physique, which was stronger than beasts, and the draining effect wasn’t much as his life force reserve was many times greater than usual for warriors.
"Really, then why don’t we try that?"
"Old Man, let my apprentice feel some things."
"Activate Stage 1 Security."
Old Man Aragon issued a command, and suddenly, frozen dummies’ eyes began to glow with crimson light.
Crack! Crack!
Bang!
The ice began to crack, and suddenly, it shattered with a loud noise, releasing a dozen dummies.
The dummies were now entirely different from before, as just by standing, Apollo could feel the strength of these dummies, or, if said correctly, Alchemy puppets.
"Kid, don’t be surprised; didn’t I say it took a lot of time and money to make this place, so naturally, it had some cool toys."
"And those Alchemy puppets are one of them."
Old man introduced him to the Alchemy puppets with a proud voice.
But Apollo didn’t seem to care what he cared about about Alchemy, the ’ancient skill of creation’. They had such a long history and impact on the world of Rion that it is said they were the cause of major destruction and even the end of different eras related to the Alchemy.
As it is said, at their peak, alchemists created weapons that endangered gods, thus causing numerous wars and leading to the decline of alchemy inheritance.
He read a bit about them and found them fascinating. This alternative to science can be utilized to craft different things, either for protection or destruction.
He wanted to know more about it, but things related to alchemy are very few and cannot be sought easily, but now, seeing alchemy products this close surprised him.
"Kid, don’t take those puppets lightly; they are much better than most warriors, so it will be the best if you try your best."
"Try my best, Mr. Aragon; are you sure, what if I break them?" Apollo asked, feeling confident in his strength.
Hearing this, both Old Man Aragon and Master Aaron looked at each other and laughed.
"Haha, kid, you can try."
Seeing their reaction, he felt something but didn’t think much as he looked at the alchemy puppets.
The twelve puppets were standing tall with crimson eyes, and he felt weird about them as he could feel and see a large amount of energy gathered within them.
"Go!"
The Old Man Aragon gave the command, and immediately all twelve alchemy puppets made moves at the same time and attacked him from different sides.
Since all the puppets were empty-handed, he also didn’t use weapons and clashed with them with his bare fists.
The puppets moved swiftly, but it didn’t reach beyond his level, as he could still clearly observe their actions. One of the alchemy puppets launched a direct attack, aiming a punch towards his chest.
Apollo didn’t hold, and he also punched, colliding with the Alchemy puppet fist like two large metal hammers.
Bang!
"What!"
Apollo was surprised when their fists collided, feeling a tremendous force akin to an immovable mountain. Despite his efforts to push through, he found himself being pushed back.
But as he attempted to utilize his life force, the restraints on his hands appeared to grow more active, hindering his ability to access his life force.
