Chapter 190: Meeting (Part-3)
The secret technique given by Astraea wasn’t something to be taken lightly. It was renowned for its complexity, a technique that could baffle even the most gifted geniuses. Typically, it would take two or three weeks for someone to comprehend it well enough to hide their aura and abilities. But Apollo had grasped its essence in mere minutes, executing it flawlessly.
The more Astraea observed, the more shocked she became by Apollo’s otherworldly talent.
"This technique... most would need weeks of deep meditation to even scratch the surface, yet you..." She trailed off, shaking her head in disbelief.
Apollo remained silent, his expression calm, but there was a glint of understanding in his eyes. He didn’t need to be told how difficult it was; he could sense the intricacies embedded within the technique. Yet, to him, it felt as though the knowledge had flowed naturally into his mind, as it had always been there, waiting to be unlocked.
Apollo had always known he possessed remarkable talent, but he refused to let it fill him with pride. The memory of his battle with the loli in the Dimension Battle World remained vivid in his mind. Despite all his recent improvements and breakthroughs, he still believed that he wouldn’t stand a chance against her.
"I’m not strong enough yet," he murmured to himself, his determination growing. "There’s still much more to learn."
With that, his thoughts return, and he looks at the sister and can’t help but thank her for such a precious secret technique.
"Thanks."
"What thanks; you are my little brother; this should I do; no need to thank between family." She smiled, looking at her genius brother, who surprised her the most.
Apollo nodded, his thoughts returning to the present. His eyes settled on his sister with a mix of curiosity and caution. She had always been a mystery to him, and now, seeing her surrounded by powerful figures, he couldn’t help but wonder what kind of force she had aligned herself with.
He asked calmly, "What kind of force did you join, sister, and what’s your status? To be able to move so many talented people... it cannot be ordinary."
Astraea smiled, her blue eyes shimmering with a knowing light. "I suppose it’s time you knew a little."
"Hmm, you know, after coming here, you should know the vastness of the universe," Astraea said, her voice soft but carrying the weight of immense knowledge. "Rion is not the end of it, not even close. It’s just a tiny portion of something far greater."
She paused for a moment, letting her words sink in before continuing. "And just as there are boundless worlds out there, there are forces that know this truth—ancient forces, older than even the most powerful kingdoms or empires on Rion. These forces have people who have travelled beyond Rion into the depths of the universe and survived the unimaginable dangers that exist there. I have joined such a force."
Apollo’s eyes widened slightly, the realization settling in. "So... you’ve seen things far beyond this world?" He asked, his voice steady but filled with curiosity.
Astraea smiled faintly, nodding. "Yes, little brother. The universe is vast and filled with mysteries that make even the mighty powers of gods on Rion seem like nothing. But it isn’t like Rion is weak; it is actually very strong and has its unknown secrets. Like the force I joined has knowledge that spans eons, and they prepare for the threats that come from beyond, not just within this realm."
"You didn’t know about that; just remember the name ’Celestial Palace’, the power that rules the stars." She said proudly like it was the power she created with her strength.
He wasn’t shocked that the Rion have contacts outside in the universe but surprised his sister joined such a powerful force and seems to have a high position.
He had always suspected that Astraea would be extraordinary, even beyond the talents their family was known for. But to think she had ventured into the vast unknown of the universe, aligning herself with forces that transcended the understanding of even the gods of Rion—that was something entirely different.
"The Celestial Palace..." Apollo repeated slowly, the name resonating with a sense of awe and mystery.
"And you’re a part of it, sister?" In fact, he was surprised because such a powerful force seemed to come to them to let her join them like they were waiting for her. More and more, he feels weird. Could it be reincarnation shit, and my eldest sister is some kind of lost powerhouse? Otherwise, it would be too much of a coincidence.
Astraea smiled her expression a mix of pride and caution. "Yes, but the Celestial Palace isn’t just one organization—it’s an ancient power that influences countless realms. Its members are chosen not just for their strength but for their potential and luck."
"As for my status," Astraea continued with a calm smile, "it’s good. I’ve been receiving the best resources due to my talent, which has allowed me to grow to a decent strength. But, brother, even with all that, you’re far better than me."
Apollo could sense the sincerity in her words, but something about her was still shrouded in mystery. He was certain that her status in this ancient force was high, perhaps even higher than she was letting on. However, when it came to her strength, he couldn’t be as sure. She was clearly using some sort of secret technique to conceal her true power, just as she had given him the technique to hide his own.
Yet, one thing puzzled him. Despite her obvious strength and influence, her name hadn’t appeared in the top hundred trialist rankings in Sky City. He couldn’t shake the feeling that she was intentionally staying off the radar.
"Strange," Apollo thought, glancing at her with curiosity. ’With her talent and resources, she should be among the strongest trialists here. Why is she keeping such a low profile?’
"Since you have such strength, why isn’t your name on the ranking of trialists?" Apollo asked, his eyes narrowing slightly. "With your power, it would have been easy to rank high."
Astraea smiled knowingly, her eyes gleaming with a mix of amusement and caution. "You’re not wrong, little brother. It would have been easy," she admitted. "But not everything is about standing out or being on display. In a place like Sky City, sometimes it’s safer to remain in the shadows—especially when you’re involved in things far more complicated than a mere ranking list."
"I am involved in something much bigger," Astraea said, her voice calm yet carrying a weight of seriousness that Apollo hadn’t heard before. "That’s why I’ve kept my distance from the family."
"It’s not that I don’t care—it’s that being involved with me right now would put them in unnecessary danger. For their sake, it’s better to let them live in peace than to drag them into something they don’t understand, something that could get them killed for reasons they’ll never know."
Her expression grew more grave, and the air around her seemed to shift, exuding a quiet but commanding dignity. Apollo could feel the gravity of her words and the weight of responsibility she carried alone.
He said anything to her weird response that seems to answer nothing, and frankly, he was annoyed by all those mysterious answers that didn’t answer a shit about his questions. Nobody seems to answer the questions directly, and what with the remaining mysterious?
Like all those answers of being distant from family so they can remain safe and Bla... Bla... reasons. The only thing he now knew was that she had joined Celestial Palace and had some decent power in her hand.
Anyway, everyone has their own choice, and he can only accept that.
"Okay then, brother, I have met you, and seeing you are doing well, I am relieved. But before I leave, I have some important news for you."
"You have four months here to become as strong as you can. And take this—I specially prepared it for you." With that, a small bracelet floated into Apollo’s hand.
Just as she was about to leave, surprising Apollo, who still had many questions, he called out, "Sister, wait! What is the relationship between the other worlds in the trial?"
"And what is the connection between them and Rion?"
He hurriedly tried to ask more about the Sky Tower, but she only smiled mysteriously. "Yes, they are all related, which you will understand in a few months," she answered simply, then disappeared. Even with Apollo’s growing mastery over space laws, he couldn’t sense her departure.
Apollo stood there, the small bracelet in his hand, his mind racing with unanswered questions. His sister’s sudden departure left him in a whirlwind of thoughts.
"Four months... to get stronger?" he muttered, glancing at the bracelet.
He clenched the bracelet, feeling a faint pulse of energy from it—undoubtedly something extraordinary. But he cannot fully understand what it does.
Apollo whispered to himself. "The Sky Tower, the trials, the other worlds... they’re all indeed connected!"
Clutching the bracelet tighter, Apollo made up his mind. He would grow stronger fast in these four months.
