Chapter 187: Salvation Society

But the heaven-defying gift from the universe did not appear this time. It seemed that breaking through on a different path would not grant him the same miraculous boon. Apollo realized that the gift was tied to a fundamental change in life level, which he had already achieved upon reaching the fourth rank in the warrior path.

In the mage path, though his spiritual power and mind grew immensely, the advancement did not alter his life level. He had already crossed the threshold into a fourth-rank lifeform, and thus, the universe did not bestow a second blessing upon him.

Though a little disappointed, Apollo understood the rarity and nature of such gifts. Still, the change it brought was enormous; he could feel his body and soul seem to have become closer to heaven and earth and laws.

In his current state, his speed of understanding various laws seemed to have increased four or even five times.

His speed in comprehending the laws was already astonishing, far surpassing that of saints and even half-gods. Now, with the massive boost from his recent breakthroughs, he had no way of truly gauging the level he had reached.

But he was certain of one thing—he would quickly be able to reach the peak of domain level in various laws.

Not only was the increase in his physique and life force or mana monumental, but For most, after breakthrough, the life force reserve increased twice or three times, but he felt the increase was more than ten times, even fifteen times.

Such an increase was unbelievable. Apollo’s already vast reserves of life force and mana had expanded even further, reaching unprecedented levels. Now, he wouldn’t lose to peak saints in terms of sheer life force or mana capacity.

His life force surged like an endless tide, reinforcing his body, mind, and spirit. The power coursing through him made him feel almost invincible.

He now had the endurance to fight for days, perhaps even weeks, without tiring. His mana could fuel devastating spells that would have left him drained before, and he could push his body to its limits and beyond without fearing collapse.

In terms of sheer life force and mana capacity, he was no longer just a prodigy—he was a monster. Few, if any, could stand on equal footing with him even in the universe that is filled with countless creatures.

"The saints aren’t now his problem... the demigods... soon, they won’t even be worth my attention," he thought to himself, his eyes glowing with a dangerous, calculated intensity.

Not only the quantity, but he also seemed to feel the change in the quality of his life force and mana as it was slowly being strengthened as he continued to absorb large amounts of energy. He felt it was becoming similar to the semi-divine energy after he transformed into Demon-God form.

He needed to consolidate and build his energy, so he started to cultivate and absorb large amounts of energy present in the room, and like that, he spent a total of three days here very quickly and was ready to leave.

But before he left, he wanted to look at how much exactly he improved, and for a clear reference, he quickly opened his system’s profile to see the exact changes that had happened.

He looked at his glorious panel and couldn’t help but feel proud, as with time, it had become this better. Everything as he expected was increased many times, and like he guessed, his life energy and mana have transformed into semi-divine energy.

Now, he is looking forward to his strength; he should be able to handle most early-stage half-gods like the zombie Dale that he met during the trial without using the divine item.

As most saints at peak stage start to transform their life force into semi-divine energy, he did that just after breaking through the fourth rank.

And for why he didn’t say he could take on middle stage half-god, as after becoming half-god every breakthrough is difficult and is like a large stage. After reaching the middle stage half-god, the semi-divine energy within them will be transformed much more, becoming purer and reaching closer to the true divine energy.

He was looking forward to what kind of transformation would occur when he assumed his Demon-God form. In that state, Apollo transcended his current self, becoming a truly divine being, embodying power on an entirely different level.

What would his strength become? Would he rival a late-stage half-god, or perhaps even reach the peak stage of half-godhood? Or maybe—just maybe—he would surpass even that, stepping into an unknown level.

Now that everything was complete, Apollo was ready to leave. He had spent nine hundred Sky points in the Energy Core Room, but the investment was well worth it. Upon emerging, he had officially become a fourth-rank lifeform, closing the gap between himself and the seasoned veterans who were nearly a hundred years old.

He silently left the Energy Core Room and returned to his place, a bright smile spreading across his face. The breakthrough had put him in an excellent mood, and the surge of power he now possessed filled him with confidence.

Everything had fallen into place, and his future seemed even more promising, as he didn’t expect to break through this quickly if he wasn’t here in the Sky City.

The next day, Sol came to meet Apollo, but something seemed off. Though he tried his best to appear normal, Apollo quickly saw through his facade. Sol’s aura felt weaker than usual, and there were subtle signs of injury.

"Sol," Apollo said, his voice calm but direct. "What happened? You can’t hide it from me." He can be considered a friend that he made after coming here, so he naturally cared about him.

Sol hesitated for a moment, as he didn’t want to trouble Apollo, and decided to lie. "I ran into some trouble during one of the tasks," he admitted. "But it’s nothing I can’t handle."

Apollo sighed as he saw through Sol’s lie, shaking his head slightly. Sol was a good guy, but hiding things wasn’t the right way to go about it.

Boom!

Apollo released a terrifying aura, so immense and overwhelming that it instantly filled the room. Sol’s body and soul trembled under the crushing weight of it, feeling like he stood before an unimaginable force, one that could obliterate him with just a glance.

"Don’t hide things from me, Sol," Apollo said, his voice cold yet controlled, the power in his words making Sol feel even smaller. "We’re friends, and friends don’t keep secrets when they’re in trouble, and not to mention I’m not weak."

"I... I’m sorry." Sol stammered, his voice barely audible under the weight of Apollo’s aura. His heart raced, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Apollo withdrew his aura slightly, enough for Sol to regain his composure. The coldness in his eyes softened, but there was still an undeniable edge to his presence. "You don’t need to lie or face things alone, Sol," he said, his voice steady but firm. "I may not interfere in everything, but you should know by now that if you’re in trouble, I’ll help."

Sol swallowed hard, his throat dry, and nodded. He had always admired Apollo’s strength and calm, but he had never felt the full weight of it like this. He realized how foolish it was to try and hide things from someone who could see through him so easily.

"Okay," Sol said quietly, finally giving in. "There’s a group of trialists formed by quite a few pretty powerful clans who seem to have made some club and have been causing trouble."

"They seem to be targeting people without the support of any powerful clan or force and have weak individual strength. And I seem to be one of the new targets of them."

"This group, called Salvation Society, seems to have been created to help poor and weak trialists here by combining their forces, but it’s all just some bullshit; instead, their main motive is to collect the points from weak and individual trialists."

Apollo’s eyes narrowed as he listened to Sol’s explanation. "Salvation Society, huh?" He muttered, the name carrying an ironic weight. A group claiming to help the weak but exploiting them instead.
