Chapter 177: New Task
Chapter 177: New Task
They quickly began to follow the Mysterious Key, understanding that they had little choice in the matter. Although they had no idea where it was leading them, the path it carved through the oppressive atmosphere was undeniable.
With the key guiding their way, the overwhelming aura of bloodlust and slaughter that could drive even the strongest warriors mad seemed to dissolve, melting away as it approached the glowing key.
After some moments, they arrived at the deepest part of the Abyssal scar, where even breathing should be difficult for them, but with the protection of the key, they arrived safely, not to mention that it seems that even those countless abominations and shadow beasts that were crawling here seem to not dare to come close to them.
The key suddenly halted in its path and erupted with a force so powerful and mysterious that it reverberated throughout the entire Abyssal Scar, shaking it to its core.
Boom!
At the centre of the Abyssal Scar, something stirred. The force of the explosion seemed to trigger a reaction from deep within the land, causing a presence to emerge that struck terror into the hearts of everyone within the Scar. A chilling aura swept through the surroundings, hinting at an ancient and terrifying power that had just been awakened.
The ground beneath them trembled violently, deep fissures spider-webbing across the scarred land as an ominous hum filled the air. Everyone instinctively braced themselves, their hands reaching for weapons and their eyes scanning for threats in every direction.
Even Apollo, who rarely showed signs of concern, narrowed his eyes as he sensed the powerful, ancient force awakening deep within the Abyssal Scar.
The key, now glowing with an intense, blinding light, hovered in the air as though it were performing some kind of ritual. Its radiance pierced through the thick aura of bloodlust and despair that clung to the deepest part of the Abyssal Scar, creating a protective barrier around Apollo and his companions.
"What just happened?" All of them were shocked as they looked at the erupting energy.
Apollo’s gaze was locked on the key, which had come to a stop, as slowly, a path seemed to appear ahead of them and seemed to lead to a large stone platform now emerging from the earth.
Symbols and runes, ancient and unfamiliar, began glowing across its surface as the key’s light intensified.
At the same time, the entire Abyssal Scar was in turmoil, as something like this never happened before, even in thousands of years.
In a corner, amidst a vast pool of blood, a figure slowly opened his eyes, glancing toward the heart of the Abyssal Scar with fierce excitement.
"Finally, it has appeared," he murmured. Without another word, his form vanished, moving swiftly toward the source of the disturbance.
Elsewhere, in a fractured space and a dark, ravaged valley, two more figures emerged, who seemed to feel clear as their eyes filled with both excitement and intrigue. One of them effortlessly phased through space, while another tore through everything in its path, forcefully heading toward the same destination.
The stone platform continued to rise, bringing with it five colossal statues, each towering like a mountain. Each statue had a unique form and appeared to encircle the platform, as though they were meant to suppress something hidden within it.
Four of the statues stood at the four corners, each emanating an aura of power and mystery. At the centre, the largest statue—a mighty dragon—loomed above the stone platform, its gaze eternally fixed upon it, as if guarding a secret that lay beneath.
Apollo’s eyes narrowed as the path formed before them, leading directly to the now fully emerged stone platform. The glowing symbols and runes illuminated the area with an eerie, ancient light, their meaning lost to time yet radiating a palpable power that even Apollo found himself wary of.
The entire Abyssal Scar seemed to be reacting to the platform’s awakening; winds howled, the ground rumbled, and an oppressive aura filled the air.
"Look at those statues," Kaleb whispered, his voice barely audible against the cacophony of energies surrounding them. "They feel alive."
Apollo nodded, his gaze sweeping over the five colossal statues encircling the platform. Each statue was a masterpiece of ancient craftsmanship, depicting forms that represented mysterious forces.
But it was the central statue—the dragon—that truly dominated the scene. Towering above them, its intricately carved scales glistened with a life-like sheen. Its eyes, carved from some unknown gemstone, glowed a deep crimson as they stared down at the platform. The dragon’s stance was regal, both majestic and intimidating as if daring anyone to approach what it guarded.
"It feels like they’re protecting something," Alyona murmured, and others also instinctively took a step back. "Or... suppressing it."
Apollo remained silent, his eyes fixed on the platform. The floating Key filled with urgent energy, compelling him to move forward. He could sense that something monumental was hidden beneath the stone surface, a force that had lain dormant for thousands of years, waiting for this very moment.
[Ding!...]
[[Special Trial (Second task)- Find the Tomb of Outer God Anaric]]
[Status- Completed]
[Reward- 5000 Sky points (500 each trialist)]
"What?" Immediately, all of them heard the message and couldn’t help but be surprised that they really found the outer god Anaric’s tomb and suddenly completed the second task.
But they didn’t have time to be happy about their success as they again heard the cold mechanical voice in their heads.
[[Special trial (Final task)- Release the Outer God Anaric]]
"What the fuck!"
Looking at the task, whether it was Apollo, Kaleb, or others, they were all surprised, as it seems their task seems to have become a bit twisted.
The first task had been straightforward and manageable. The second was slightly tricky but harmless. However, this third task was different—it was asking them to release the Outer God Anaric, a being that had once been part of an invading force that nearly destroyed this world.
From saving a city to suddenly being asked to unleash a catastrophe upon the world, doubts began to surface in their minds. Were they truly the heroes in this story, or were they unwittingly becoming the harbingers of doom?
Many within the Abyssal Scar sensed the surge of power and began to converge on its source. Even the countless abominations and shadow beasts crept forward, drawn to the area like moths to a flame.
Yet, despite their menacing presence, they kept their distance. The mysterious Key and the aura surrounding it acted as a barrier, preventing them from coming close to their group.
As they were thinking about what to do about the task, others started to appear here as the aura of slaughter and blood started to regress and slowly was being absorbed by the floating ring.
Tear! The first to appear was a woman who seemed to materialize by tearing through space, startling Apollo and the others. Her sudden arrival caught them off guard, leaving them momentarily speechless as they tried to gauge her strength and intentions.
She exuded a presence that was both enchanting and dangerous. Her long, dark hair cascaded down her back, framing a face of mature beauty that radiated both elegance and strength. The woman seemed to have beautiful, mature beauty with a seductive figure—a perfect milf beauty that countless young boys dreamed of.
Apollo and his companions quickly composed themselves, their senses heightening in response to the woman’s abrupt entrance. Her piercing gaze swept across the group, eyes gleaming with intelligence and something more predatory, like a lioness sizing up potential prey.
Apollo’s eyes narrowed as he studied her, sensing an aura that was far from ordinary. He felt great pressure, and his expression couldn’t help but become grave.
"Vvv... Void Witch!"
The robber leader seemed to recognize her and quickly spoke in a horrified, shaky voice. His face paled as he took an instinctive step back, fear evident in his eyes.
"Well, well," she purred, her voice smooth as silk, with a hint of mockery. "It seems I’m not the first to arrive at the heart of the Abyssal Scar." Her eyes lingered on Apollo as she felt the weak law of space on him, a flicker of recognition crossing her features as she assessed him.
Apollo and others were alert and looked at her with their tense expressions, especially Apollo, who, with sharp senses and spiritual sense, saw how unfathomably strong she was. The aura on her was similar to the Old Man from the Sacred Light Empire that he saw during the gathering of Hunter City.
And he knows that old man was half-god and peak one at that, meaning she might also be at the same level.
He had confidence that if he went all out, he might be able to face a newly promoted Half-god, but he didn’t have any chance against peak half-god unless he transformed into Demon-God form.
As they were looking at her, the Void witch was also looking at them, especially the floating key that was gathering the entire aura of the Abyssal Scar.
But she felt something, and her face changed as another massive aura appeared from the sky and landed beside them.
Bang!
