Chapter 168: Killing Fifth Rank Zombie

Chapter 168: Killing Fifth Rank Zombie

It was none other than the Human Chimera, the monstrous creation Apollo had brought back to life in Hunter City using the Book of Death. Its presence was overwhelming, and its aura had grown even more terrifying since its resurrection. Now, after absorbing the strange death aura, the Chimera’s strength had skyrocketed to the peak of fourth rank.

With its unparalleled regenerative abilities, it had become a near-unstoppable force. Even the Saints would find it difficult to defeat.

The Book of Death is a divine artifact and wasn’t an ordinary one, as it seems to have many secrets. However, it is definitely a powerful trump card in the current environment, as it can not only absorb the weird death of the fourth rank or higher but also use it to make it summon strong. It also seemed to be helpful in improving his understanding of the law of death.

If it absorbs all those seven fourth-rank zombie auras and a few more, then his Chimera should be able to evolve and become a fifth-rank saint level strong.

"Go," Apollo commanded the Human Chimera, its massive frame looming ominously as it rushed toward the four fourth-rank zombies, ready to devour them. Meanwhile, Apollo turned to face the fifth-rank zombie alone.

"I’ll take care of this one. You can rest and recover some strength," he said, his tone calm but resolute as he glanced at the three injured grandmasters. They exchanged shocked looks and even felt a bit afraid seeing the horrifying Chimera but were still grateful for the unexpected help from these powerful travellers.

"Thanks," they said in unison, their voices filled with relief and gratitude. They quickly retreated to the soldier barracks below to recover their strength as swiftly as possible, trusting Apollo to handle the overwhelming threat.

Alyola also looked at Apollo intently, thinking about the strength he showed now. Before, she had some doubts, but now she was sure that it wasn’t unexpected that he was ranked within the top hundred.

Apollo’s strength is really strong, and he seems to understand the law of death and necromancy. This weird aura of death shouldn’t be able to harm it at all. Pussy king also looked at chimera with interest as even he didn’t know all the secrets about Book of Death.

The fifth-rank zombie gazed at Apollo with a twisted interest, its eerie red eyes flickering with a strange sense of recognition. Its gaze then shifted to the Human Chimera, and an unsettling feeling of mutual disgust filled the air. It was as if the very presence of the Chimera, a being born of twisted death and resurrection, stirred something deep within the zombie.

It seemed to seethe with an overwhelming urge to destroy the Chimera, like two creatures of the same dark force that could not coexist.

The tension between them thickened as Apollo stood firm, his Frost Star Sword glinting with icy power. He could feel the intensity of the zombie’s hatred and disgust for the Chimera.

It became clear to Apollo that the power of the Book of Death stirred something primal in the zombies—disgust and perhaps even fear. The fifth-rank zombie’s reaction, a mix of hatred and discomfort, hinted that they might instinctively recognize their vulnerability to the book’s power. The Book of Death didn’t just raise the dead—it seemed to devour them, turning them into fuel for its own growth.

Apollo’s smile widened as he realized this.

"Perhaps you are afraid," he muttered, looking at the fifth-rank zombie, the cold air around him thickening as his grip on the Frost Star Sword tightened.

Afraid, hmm? We are the ones who bring fear, despair, and nightmares to all," the fifth-rank zombie growled, its voice thick with malice. "You will feel it too, my top-quality ingredient, as I devour you slowly, limb by limb, and you’ll still be alive to witness every moment."

With that, it pulled out a massive sword, two meters tall and half a meter wide. The weapon radiated an ominous black death aura, swirling with sharp streaks of gold. The sheer presence of the blade seemed to warp the air around it, exuding a palpable sense of dread.

Apollo’s eyes flickered toward the monstrous sword, but he remained unfazed. His fingers tightened around the hilt of his Frost Star Sword; its icy edge also burst out with a terrifying white, silvery chilling aura that seemed to affect the entire northern side, dropping the temperature exponentially.

As the chilling aura from Apollo’s Frost Star Sword spread across the battlefield, the very air seemed to freeze, creating an eerie contrast to the grotesque, deathly aura of the fifth-rank zombie.

The zombie’s towering frame stood menacingly, clutching its massive black sword, streaked with death and gold, which distorted the space around it. The tension between them felt electric—a clash of ice and death on the verge of eruption.

"Let’s test you, so-called ’bringer of death and nightmare’ then," Apollo whispered under his breath. His Frost Star Sword hummed with the power of Ice Law, a silvery mist swirling around it as the temperature continued to plummet. Even the hardened walls of the city began to crystallize under the icy pressure.

In the distance, the Human Chimera was already wreaking havoc on the battlefield. Its three hands moved in brutal efficiency, tearing through the remaining fourth-rank zombies with terrifying speed. The grandmasters below watched in awe and horror as the creature devoured the zombies, growing stronger with each kill.

The fifth-rank zombie, sensing the danger from the chimera that was becoming with time, not wanting to wait, jumped forward with blinding speed. Its massive sword cleaved through the air with a vicious arc, the death aura radiating filled with a golden, sharp sword aura from it like a tidal wave of malevolence.

Apollo met the attack head-on.

Clang!

The collision of the two swords sent shockwaves rippling through the sky. The ground below trembled as the death and ice clashed violently, neither side giving an inch. Frost spread rapidly across the zombie’s blade, but the eerie death energy fought back, trying to corrode Apollo’s ice aura.

"Ice Domain."

"Golden Sword Domain."

Both of them also immediately used their respective law domains. Apollo used Domain of Ice, whereas the fifth-rank zombie’s domain was Golden Sword Domain, but as a zombie, it was filled with an eerie death aura, making it stronger.

Szzz Szzz Szzz...

Their domain collided, changing the northern battlefield so that soldiers and zombies didn’t dare to move, or, to be exact, couldn’t move due to the intense pressure.

During their first clash, Apollo’s Ice domain seems to be overwhelmed, but he expected it as the fifth-rank zombie ahead had a decent understanding of his sword domain, and it has become stronger due to the influence of the weird death aura.

Apollo swiftly activated his second domain, the Law Domain of Death. As it unfolded, a surge of pure death energy erupted forth, combining with his Ice Domain. The fusion of both domains created a force so overwhelming that it immediately began pushing back against the fifth-rank zombie’s domain, suppressing it with relentless pressure.

Bang! Crush!

The air cracked under the force of their clash. The oppressive death aura from Apollo intensified, leaving the zombie no room to act.

"Damn you!" The zombie spat in fury, its grotesque features twisting with rage. "You’re just my food to satisfy hunger—how are you fighting back?"

But no matter how much it cursed, it was clear—the fifth-rank zombie was completely suppressed, unable to break free from Apollo’s overpowering domains.

Apollo now had a very good understanding of the fusion of different domains after his battle with the loli; he quickly and effectively merged his Ice and Death domain to make it many times stronger than a single domain.

The fifth-rank zombie’s domain shrank under immense pressure, its legs freezing as Apollo’s domain enveloped it completely, immobilizing the abomination. Despite the suppression, the zombie’s formidable body, strengthened by years of death and decay, resisted the ice and death energy, trying to crush it.

The overwhelming Laws of Death and Ice closed in, drowning everything in darkness, the pure death aura suffocating the creature’s senses. It couldn’t see, couldn’t move, and a sudden sense of fear crept into its mind—an emotion it had long since forgotten.

"What are you trying? It’s not easy to defeat me!" The zombie roared defiantly, gathering its power, intending to unleash some deadly technique. But as it prepared to act, an overwhelming sense of terror gripped it.

Too late.

A grotesque, blood-soaked hand materialized out of the shadows behind it and pierced through its chest, straight into its heart. The fifth-rank zombie’s eyes widened in horror; the fear it had just moments ago dismissed is now flooding its very being.

It wasn’t just any creature—it was the Human Chimera, now empowered after devouring the four fourth-rank zombies, its strength surging to the brink of fifth rank. Its aura was fiercer, more oppressive, and its clawed hands—now resembling divine metal—had effortlessly pierced through the zombie’s flesh.

Despite the fifth-rank zombie’s heart being crushed, it stubbornly refused to die. Even with such severe damage, it thrashed violently, trying to throw the chimera off and break free from the deadly grip.

But before it could act, a terrifying aura erupted from within the chimera. The aura of death and blood swirling in a vortex of destruction seemed to absorb everything—including the eerie death aura that had given the zombie its twisted life.

"No, no, nooo...!"
