Chapter 166: Fifth Rank Intelligent Zombies

Chapter 166: Fifth Rank Intelligent Zombies

Apollo, Alyona, and the other three grandmasters also appeared in the sky above the northern side. Apollo used his Wings of Wind spell but controlled its output to make it seem like he was simply flying, disguising the fact that he hadn’t yet reached the fourth rank.

Pussy King also joined the fray, but instead of engaging in the battles in the sky, it calmly targeted the zombies on the ground. It nimbly walked through the horde, killing each zombie with a single, gentle paw strike. Whether they were first-rank, second-rank, or third-rank, all it took was one soft swipe to completely destroy them.

In the sky they were five against five, and Apollo’s enemy was a disgusting amalgam zombie that seemed to have three hands and two heads. It had a fierce aura with a weird aura that seemed to make it more eerie and a bit stronger.

But he didn’t dwell on it much; he didn’t hold back and directly used his Ice Law, knowing that most attacks without the power of the law wouldn’t do much damage to the zombies.

Their main weakness lay in their diminished understanding of the laws. Although they gained powerful physiques by becoming undead, they lost most of their understanding of the laws from when they were alive, significantly reducing their strength compared to their former selves.

That’s why most of the grandmasters can take two or three fourth-rank zombies at the same time; otherwise, just the present situation will already be dangerous.

The chilling icy aura covered the surroundings around him and even covered the zombie, and with that, he used his Prana skills to give the amalgam zombie a devastating blow.

"Blade Storm."

Thousands of blades of ice appeared, each blade containing a hint of the Ice Law, making them exponentially more powerful.

They swiftly enveloped the zombie, which was shrouded in an eerie aura of death. The creature roared like a maniacal beast, its blood-red eyes twitching as its movements unleashed a sonic boom, generating winds as fierce as a storm.

Boom Boom Boom Boom...

Thousand of blades attacked the zombie that, with its physical body, took the attack head-on with a burst of wood aura mixed with death aura. Showing that it was a master who had wood energy when it was alive.

The ice blades, infused with the Ice Law, sliced relentlessly with unimaginable speed, leaving severe cuts all over the zombie’s body. Frost’s aura covered most of the creature, but despite the onslaught, it maintained its fierce fighting aura, refusing to stop for even a moment.

The deadly wood aura it wielded could do little against the penetrating cold of the Ice Law, which seeped into its wounds, freezing the creature from within. The frost spread rapidly, crystallizing the zombie’s flesh and bones, sapping its strength and slowing its movements.

The repeated impacts of the blades against the zombie’s body echoed through the sky, each strike chipping away at its already decayed form.

The creature’s blood-red eyes twitched in fury, and it thrashed wildly, its movements generating powerful gusts of wind. Yet, no matter how fiercely it fought back, the ice blades continued their assault, cutting deeper with every pass.

Grrr grr grr...

The zombie’s growls grew weaker, more desperate, as it struggled against the overwhelming power of the Ice Law. Despite its resistance, it was clear that the creature was nearing its limit. The frost had covered most of its body, and the once fearsome aura of death that surrounded it was beginning to wane.

Apollo always remained far from it, as its means of attack were crude, like wild humans, who have all the strength and good instinct but do have means to use them better.

Apollo summoned a bow made of ice, using his life force to form it, as these zombies didn’t deserve the use of his soul-shattering bow. Gathering his Ice life force and channelling the Law of Ice, he crafted a sharp and mysterious ice arrow.

Without hesitation, he aimed at the grotesque zombie, still trying to kill him despite being mostly torn apart or frozen. Waiting for the right moment, he released the arrow.

Sssssszzzzzz...

The arrow pierced through the winds and the eerie aura of death in the sky, swiftly penetrating the fourth-rank zombie abomination head.

Boom!

The arrow struck the zombie’s head with devastating force. The impact was immediate and catastrophic. The ice arrow drilled a large hole right through its skull, shattering the undead abomination’s head into fragments of frozen flesh and bone.

For a brief moment, the creature stood still, its body twitching as if refusing to acknowledge its own demise. Then, with a final shudder, it collapsed, its unnatural life force extinguished.

The remains of the zombie crumbled, the death aura dissipating into the cold air, leaving nothing but a lifeless husk that quickly froze and shattered into icy debris.

Apollo lowered his bow, the icy weapon dissolving back into the air as he let out a chilling breath. But at that time the weird death aura seemed to be attracted towards him and, without being noticed by anyone, seemed to enter his body, surprising him as he felt something surprising.

The battle on the other side was still going on, and they all had the upper hand as they were suppressing their opponents.

Alyona’s eyes gleamed with thunder and lightning as she waved her hand. A distorted bolt of lightning, infused with the Law of Lightning and brimming with destructive power, materialized and struck the fourth-rank zombie ahead. The force of the attack annihilated the zombie, reducing it to a charred, burnt husk.

As, after feeling the surprise the weird aura of death brought, Apollo scanned the rest of the battlefield and noticed the other grandmasters were also nearly done with their respective enemies. One by one, they delivered crushing blows, their movements efficient and unrelenting. Despite the raw physical power of the zombies, the grandmasters’ understanding of the laws gave them a significant edge.

Meanwhile, below the walls, the soldiers continued their relentless assault against the horde of zombies and maintained well-coordinated control over it.

On the other side, whether it was the eastern side, west side, or northern side, they also controlled their situations, but nobody was feeling great as the death storm had already reached such high intensity without any clear sign of stopping.

All senior members of the city have grave expressions, as they had a feeling it was going to be the deadliest death storm the Crimson City ever faced.

Time passed with the increasing density of the aura of death. Stronger zombies continued to arrive, but with the strong strength of the city and the help of Apollo and their group, they still maintained the defence.

Apollo’s eyes glowed as the death aura seeped into his body after he killed yet another fourth-rank zombie. By now, he had already slain five of such formidable undead zombies. The toll of the relentless battle was beginning to show; both the soldiers and the powerful grandmasters in the city were starting to feel the strain of exhaustion setting in.

Boom! Boom! Sssszz!

As the aura of death reached a saturated state, it began to slowly seep through the light barrier surrounding the city. The danger escalated significantly, as the increasing death aura threatened to weaken and drain the soldiers and limit breakers.

If the barrier reached a point where it could no longer hold, the lives of most soldiers would be in jeopardy. The death aura outside had grown so potent that first or second-rank limit breakers might lose their strength within half an hour to an hour, not to mention weaker people, making the situation increasingly dire.

The Crimson City now slowly seems to be moving towards its doom. But they didn’t give time as the strongest zombies they ever faced appeared in the pitch-black sky.

Apollo’s expression became grave as he felt the aura of the strongest among the group of zombies that appeared.

"Fifth rank!"

Undoubtedly, it was a fifth-rank zombie, and unlike the others, the distortion caused by the strange death aura was minimal. It appeared almost human, with no visible signs of amalgamation on its face or body.

"Hehe, after thousands of years, I can finally feast on some lives again."

"Haha, haha..."

Hearing this, everyone’s faces changed. It was clear that the entity possessed intelligence, and not just any intelligence, but one that seemed to carry all the experience and memories of countless years.

This revelation was something they had never expected. Even the senior members, who had witnessed Death Storms before, were filled with horror.

Such a situation wasn’t happening on just the northern side but on all four sides, with a similar situation shocking everyone in the city except the City Lord Rex, who seemed to still be calm without any surprise like he expected it.

The eastern side, where the strongest gathered, was in the most severe situation, with three fifth-rank intelligent zombies and more than twenty fourth-rank zombies appearing at the same time.

The sky and earth trembled under their presence. The gloomy and eerie aura of death made it difficult for others to breathe or even look up.

"Rex, why are you still waiting? Come and let’s have some talks between brothers."

One of the fifth-rank intelligent zombies with the most unfathomable aura and seems to be leading the zombies said as it looked at City Lord.
