Chapter 151: Temple of Laws
What really surprised him were the points of the people above him in the rankings, especially those in the top ten. They all shockingly had points above a thousand, which was truly something remarkable.
However, he wasn’t too shocked; they must have completed three or four tasks, maybe even more, so it wasn’t impossible to achieve such high points.
"Those guys are something they didn’t seem to waste any time," Apollo murmured as he looked at the points of the top ten trialists. But he wasn’t going to follow them and madly clear tasks; he would take time and slowly decide what to do.
Sol shook his head, a grin spreading across his face. "Brother Apollo, you truly are something else. I thought I was doing well, but to see your name here on your first try... That’s incredible!"
There were some people naturally present who heard Sol’s shocked voice and his words, as they weren’t trying to hide and couldn’t help but feel surprised.
After both of them left, word started to spread that a newcomer had ranked within the top hundred on his first attempt. Whispers and murmurs filled the air as people started to gather around the pillar, eager to see the name of the rising star who had taken a spot among the best.
The trialists who had been in Sky City for a day or two were particularly shocked. The name "Apollo" quickly became a topic of conversation, with some speculating about his origins, abilities, and strength.
Back at the plaza, Sol couldn’t stop grinning as they continued their tour of the city. "You really stirred things up, brother Apollo. I wouldn’t be surprised if people start trying to figure out who you are and what you’re capable of."
Apollo remained composed; his thoughts focused on his next steps. He had no intention of rushing through the trials, preferring to take his time and approach each challenge with careful consideration. The sight of the top ten trialists’ points had impressed him, but it also reinforced his belief that true strength wasn’t just about speed. It’s all about strength and understanding.
"They can speculate all they want," Apollo said calmly, his eyes scanning the bustling streets of Sky City. "I’m in no rush. Let them try."
Sol nodded, respecting Apollo’s measured approach. "That’s the right mindset. There’s plenty of time to explore its secrets."
He now wanted to first find out if there was anything—or any treasure—in Sky City that could improve or increase his speed of understanding the laws. After that, he planned to find his master and Pussy King.
"Sol, is there any place in Sky City where you can learn and deepen your understanding of the laws?" Apollo asked quickly, certain that a city as vast and mystical as this one, filled with treasures, must have such a place.
Sol pondered for a moment before nodding. "Yes, there are a few places in Sky City known for helping trialists deepen their understanding of the laws. One of the most famous is the ’Temple of Laws’. It’s a place where you can meditate and gain insights into various laws."
He paused, then added, "There are also certain shops and auction houses that offer treasures or artifacts specifically designed to aid in the comprehension of laws, though the Sky points needed can be high so that even the top ten in the list cannot buy them."
Apollo’s interest was piqued. "Where is this Temple of Laws?"
"It’s in the central district of Sky City; needed to travel through the teleportation portal. I can take you there if you’d like."
Apollo nodded in agreement, eager to visit this place that could potentially enhance his understanding of the laws. "Let’s go."
With that, Sol led the way through the bustling streets of Sky City, heading toward the teleportation portal that led to the Temple of Laws.
They quickly arrived in front of a teleportation portal that led directly to the Central District—the heart of Sky City, filled with countless miracles.
Sky City was vast, divided into numerous districts, each with its unique wonders. To move from one district to another, one had to use transportation portals. The area where they had been strolling was considered the outermost region, often referred to as the lobby, where most trialists were initially transported upon their arrival in Sky City.
As Apollo and Sol approached the teleportation portal, they could feel the energy radiating from it—a shimmering gateway that connected the different parts of Sky City. The portal was a swirling vortex of colours, constantly shifting and filled with mysterious power. Trialists and inhabitants of the Sky City moved in and out of the portal, each heading toward their own destinations within the city.
"Once we step through, we’ll be in the Central District," Sol explained. "The Temple of Laws is one of the most revered places in the district. It’s said that even a brief moment within it can increase your understanding of laws by leaps and bounds as if you’ve gained insight that would normally take years to achieve."
Apollo nodded, intrigued by the possibilities. Though his talent and comprehension were extraordinary, allowing him to advance his understanding of the laws rapidly over the past three years, he had begun to notice a slowdown in his progress.
The higher one ascends in the understanding of laws, the more challenging and arduous it becomes. So the opportunity to deepen his understanding was too valuable to pass up.
With a final glance around the bustling outer region, Apollo stepped through the portal with Sol beside him. The world around them blurred, and in the next instant, they found themselves standing in the Central District.
The streets were lined with grand structures, each more magnificent than the last. Towering statues of ancient figures stood as silent guardians, their eyes seeming to watch over all who entered this sacred place. The air was thick with the energy of countless laws, and even the most casual observer could feel the immense pressure that seemed to be emitted from every corner.
"There it is," Sol said, pointing to a large temple a few miles away. The Temple of Laws stood at the centre of the district, an imposing structure that seemed to touch the sky itself. Its walls were covered with unique carvings that appeared to depict the various laws of the world, and the very air around it hummed with a powerful resonance.
Apollo felt a surge of anticipation as they approached the temple. This was the place where he could potentially break through into the new depths of understanding, a place that could elevate his understanding of the laws to new heights.
As they reached the entrance of the temple, Apollo took a deep breath, ready to step inside.
But Sol didn’t follow him inside as he didn’t have enough points, so he waited outside, even with a hundred sky points, Apollo also could not remain inside for much longer.
Just as he entered the Temple of Laws, the space around him shifted, and he found himself standing before a grand temple-like building.
An old, humanoid man with a peculiar eye-shaped mark on his forehead was sitting calmly at the entrance as if guarding the temple. The man’s presence was mysterious, and his gaze seemed to pierce through Apollo as he approached.
Apollo quickly calmed down as the gaze of this old man was too much, as it seemed to have almost pierced his all secrets.
"Senior, I want to enter the Temple of Laws to deepen my understanding of the laws," Apollo stated with determination.
The old man shifted his gaze, his eyes narrowing slightly as he assessed Apollo. "A minute within the temple will cost you ten Sky Points," he replied in a calm, emotionless voice that carried the weight of countless years. "So, how much time are you planning to spend?"
Apollo considered this for a moment before deciding. "Five minutes will do," he responded, figuring that it would be enough to gauge the effectiveness of the Temple of Laws while still conserving some of his points, as Sky points are the most important currency in the Sky City and for almost everything it is needed.
"Okay, then go straight," the old guardian instructed, his voice steady as the Sky Mark tattoo on his hand began to glow. The temple’s gate responded to the energy, opening wide and pulling Apollo inside with a force akin to a black hole.
In an instant, Apollo found himself in a vast, empty space, its dimensions seemingly endless. Ahead of him was a single futon, serene and inviting, floating in the middle of this mysterious realm.
Apollo understood that the moment he sat on the futon, his enlightenment would begin. Taking a deep, calm breath, he centred himself, knowing he needed to be in peak condition to fully take advantage of the opportunity.
Before sitting on the futon, Apollo quickly decided to glance at his current status and strength in the system’s profile to judge his progress later.
