Chapter 131: Selene Fletcher
Chapter 131: Selene Fletcher
Seeing all the potions, especially the Sky Nurture Soul Potion, the entire Fletcher family was in disbelief. His mother, Louise, who had a deep knowledge of potions, was particularly shocked. Even for her, these potions were new and unprecedented.
"Apollo, where did you find these?" Louise asked, her voice filled with astonishment as she examined the Sky Nurture Soul Potion. "I’ve never even heard of this one."
Apollo smiled, being able to surprise his knowledgeable mother. "I came across them during my journey. They’re scarce and valuable, meant to help us all improve."
His father and grandfather, Count William Fletcher, looked at him with admiration. "You’ve truly brought a treasure trove back home, Apollo. These will be instrumental in our growth and protection."
Apollo’s grandpa held the rare potion tightly, his eyes filled with determination. "This will help me break through to the second rank. I’ll do everything I can to achieve that and protect our family."
As the family continued to marvel at the potions, they discussed how best to use them. Louise, with her extensive knowledge, offered guidance on the optimal usage and timing for each potion, ensuring that they would maximize their benefits.
Apollo felt a deep sense of satisfaction seeing his family’s renewed hope and determination. These potions would not only elevate their abilities but also solidify the Fletcher family’s standing and influence in the kingdom.
Over the next few days, the Fletcher family implemented Louise’s plan. They each took the potions at carefully chosen times, enhancing their strength and skills. The improvements were noticeable almost immediately. Apollo’s Father John’s breakthrough to the first rank limit-breaker brought a wave of pride and reassurance to the family, solidifying their confidence in their future.
Apollo resumed his training, but Master Aaron had to enter closed-door training, sensing an opportunity to break through to a fourth-rank Limit-Breaker Grandmaster. He left Apollo under the care of Old Man Aragon.
Before retreating, Master Aaron provided Apollo with valuable insights about Sword Aura, despite the absence of a specific training regimen. Drawing from his noble clan’s history of swordsmen spanning thousands of years, Master Aaron handed Apollo a book filled with their experiences and methods.
"This book contains the wisdom of countless swordsmen who came before you," Master Aaron said, handing over the leather-bound volume. "Study it well. It may not give you direct instructions, but it will offer guidance and inspiration for your path."
Apollo accepted the book with a grateful nod. "Thank you, Master Aaron. I will make the most of this."
With Master Aaron in seclusion, Old Man Aragon took charge of Apollo’s training. He also started teaching about the basis of blacksmithing.
Over the next few days, Apollo immersed himself in the book, reading the accounts of legendary swordsmen who had mastered various forms of Sword Aura. He found inspiration in their stories, learning about their struggles, breakthroughs, and the philosophies that guided them. Each entry offered a new perspective, helping Apollo refine his own understanding and approach to Sword Aura.
One particular passage caught his attention:
"The essence of Sword Aura lies not in the weapon but in the wielder’s spirit. It is an extension of one’s will, a manifestation of their resolve and determination. To master Sword Aura is to master oneself."
It also mentioned that understanding different Laws is helpful, as incorporating them into one’s Sword Aura can perfect it and bring it closer to the Law of heaven and earth itself.
However, this isn’t easy. Understanding a single Law is already very difficult, let alone mastering many of them. Usually, only those at the Half-God stage and higher begin to comprehend more Laws, as at that stage, they are closer to the world and its heavens and earth.
But this is a good approach for him. Having already understood three different Laws, with his highest accomplishment being the Law of Death, he can try incorporating it into his Sword Aura to make it stronger and improve his mastery.
Apollo decided to experiment with this new approach. He began by meditating, focusing on the Law of Death he had comprehended so well. The cold, immutable essence of death flowed through him, mingling with his Sword Aura. He visualized the eternal stillness of death and its inevitable embrace and tried to merge this concept with the sharp, unyielding nature of his Eternal Ice Sword Aura.
But as soon as he tried, he felt a powerful, repulsive force that seemed to tear the elements apart.
With a deafening boom, he lost control of his Sword Aura. The room was instantly engulfed in a chilling aura of death combined with his Eternal Ice Sword Aura, resulting in a catastrophic explosion.
He awoke from his focused training state, his eyes widening as he surveyed the damage. The room was now encased in ice; the once pristine space was now filled with a dark, oppressive aura of death. The sight of the room, frozen and shrouded in gloom, was a stark reminder of the perilous balance he was trying to maintain.
"Cough, cough," he immediately coughed up some blood. His aura weakened, and his face became pale.
"I have to be careful. I shouldn’t try to forcefully merge the concept of death into my Sword Aura."
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as he assessed the damage. The room would need to be repaired, and he would need to recover his strength. More importantly, he had to refine his approach to integrating different concepts of Laws into his Sword Aura, understanding that each concept had its inherent dangers and complexities.
But he didn’t have time to take care of this, as his mother asked him to come out of his training; his second sister had returned after a long four years of studying.
Hearing this, he quickly came out and went to the dining hall, where the others were already waiting.
The moment he entered, he noticed his sister, who was four years older than him, standing elegantly with a calm and ethereal aura.
Apollo’s second sister, Selene, stood with a graceful poise that radiated confidence and wisdom. Her long, flowing hair shimmered like silver in the candlelight, and her piercing blue eyes held a depth that spoke of countless hours of study and contemplation.
Dressed in an elegant, flowing gown that highlighted her noble bearing, she seemed almost otherworldly, an ethereal presence in the familiar surroundings of their family home.
"Apollo," she said with a warm smile, her voice soft yet commanding. "It’s been too long."
Apollo returned the smile, feeling a sense of comfort and admiration for his sister. "Yes, it has indeed been a long time."
Selene’s eyes twinkled with amusement. "I see you’ve grown quite a bit yourself, little brother. I’ve heard about your accomplishments and the incredible journey you’ve been on."
Their mother, Louise, beamed with pride as she watched the siblings reunite. "Come, let’s sit and catch up. There’s much to discuss."
Apollo carefully looked at her, feeling surprised, as the aura she gave was a bit different from that of a warrior but was similar to the mages he had met, and her strength wasn’t weak at all.
She was a first-rank mage, with strength equal to that of a first-rank Limit Breaker, and had an affinity for the Ice Element like him. He could see and feel countless ice particles circling her as if she were their queen.
He was surprised to see this; it seemed his sister wasn’t simple. At just sixteen years old, her strength rivalled that of the heirs of dukes’ families or the princes of kingdoms.
As they all sat down to catch up, Apollo couldn’t help but feel a hint of mystery from his sister, Selene. Her presence exuded confidence and calm, and he was also eager to learn more about her journey and accomplishments.
Selene looked around the table, her eyes filled with warmth. "It’s wonderful to be back home. I’ve missed you all."
Their father, John Fletcher, nodded. "We’ve missed you too, Selene. Tell us about your studies. How have you been progressing?"
Selene took a sip of her drink before responding. "My studies have been intense but rewarding. I’ve been learning under some of the most skilled mages in the tower. They’ve helped me refine my control over the Ice Element, and I’ve made significant strides in my magical abilities."
Louise smiled proudly. "We can see that. Your aura is much stronger than before."
Apollo smiled along with the others, but he knew this was more than just a simple increase in strength. According to his guess, she was stronger than most ordinary second-rank Limit Breakers, many times stronger than Grandpa William.
His sister seemed exceptionally talented and must have found a good teacher; otherwise, she wouldn’t be this strong, as mage training is usually more time-consuming.
Selene turned to Apollo. "I’ve heard about your impressive progress, Apollo. It seems our Fletcher family has finally produced a young dragon that can shock the world. Perhaps we can train together sometimes."
Apollo’s eyes lit up at the suggestion. "I’d love that. There’s so much we can learn from each other."
He eagerly anticipated seeing her in action, wanting to know just how good she was.
