Game World's Awakening -
Chapter 122: Training the Sense
Chapter 122: Training the Sense
He won.
Or so historians would like to say.
The reality is that he was betrayed by his companions, in collusion with the God of the World.
In the end, the most talented man in history was seriously wounded and had to flee far from his homeland.
At that time, the Southern Continent was forgotten and desolate. It was ruled mostly by amazing beasts, with settlements and the occasional human city seeking to subsist in this dangerous world. They succeeded, but the beasts on this side of the world were too powerful to cope.
Most people had to live in the shadows of the great beasts.
Though severely wounded, he cleared the Southern Continent from head to toe. Many of the beasts were wiped out by his hand.
He wanted revenge.
He wanted to build the greatest continent on his own. He wanted to build a continent that would allow him to stand up and support him when he went to challenge that bastard again.
But he failed.
No one knows why.
And his name appears in the founding of all the Guilds of the Southern Continent.
His name is in Arce.
His name is in the Dragon Kingdom.
His name is in Lux.
His name is also in the newly born Runic Kingdom, for it is said that the Saint Blacksmith had inherited his power from the ruin where Ancestor Lee died, though that may also be a lie.
All the major guilds of the Southern Continent have his name as their first founder. His importance and idol value within the Southern Continent is on par with that of the greats of other continents.
Even more, since he did all the work alone.
Sadly, he died. However, no one knows how and why.
The story of this Ancestor Lee was interesting. He had never read it before or even heard anything about it. Or maybe he had, but it was many years ago, and he doesn’t remember it.
’Ancestor Lee, huh. Such an amazing and powerful man, yet he was still the target of such a vile betrayal... Certainly, no one is exempt from having trashy companions.’ Elliot sighed.
He hoped something similar wouldn’t happen with him.
After that came slightly boring topics, where he had to learn more about the Continent where he lived and its kingdoms, as well as more key characters and dangerous guilds.
That was just the first day...
In the following days, he had to read and be taught about mathematics, physics, chemistry, more stories, and magic.
This also gave him a lot of knowledge about Attribute Energy, and he realized several important things.
Studying his abilities: The Harvester, Lord of the Energy, and Monarch of Energy, he realized that this was more amazing than he could have imagined.
His control over energy was becoming more and more powerful thanks to the continuous learning he was undergoing.
Even though he was not allowed to train, he began to think of various skill-like things that he wanted to try and develop. Maybe they would work for him, all thanks to his good control of energy.
To call it ’good control’ was an understatement.
Because he was the true Monarch of Energy, he had perfect control over it!
Here, he could understand what kind of awakened one he was.
Maybe... he couldn’t just be a swordsman and summoner. Perhaps he could be a mage, though that remains to be seen.
At a constant speed, he learned and, at that same constant speed, his Sense attribute progressed.
In the distance, the woman who trained him always watched him, even when he slept.
’He learns fast and picks up everything I teach him. I’m afraid his talent for this is amazing.’ Although arrogant from the beginning, she gradually realized this boy was too talented.
Although she had only spent a few days seeing him, she could say that for sure. More so because the questions Elliot asked were concise and not wasted. He understood what he was learning, and his mind was directed to ask key things and learn a lot from the answers.
The days, though tedious, passed quickly.
After much intensive study, the last few days of the week, the woman who coached him set several difficult tests, one after the other.
She put him through stress and worry in a short time, making it difficult for his mind to adjust, but forcing him to do so.
Her ultimatum was: if you fail one, this training ends here.
And it was more than 50 tests in a few days, where, in some cases, she forced him to stay awake, causing his stress to skyrocket.
But that...
It was great for the points boost.
At the end of the week...
Elliot dropped to the floor as he looked at the results of the last exam and stared blankly at the solid concrete sky.
After a whole week of continuous effort, where he saw the fruits of training with this dangerous woman...
He failed the last of the exams.
She stood up and walked over to him, to look down on him from above.
"Out of 57 exams, you failed 1, for missing two quizzes. How does it feel to come so close and not make it?" She asked, smiling with slight derision.
Elliot had some clarity in his eyes when he replied, "If I’d had a little more time...I wouldn’t have missed."
His voice sounded slightly hollow, somewhat lonely. He hadn’t expected to fail so quickly. But he was sure he would make it if given a little more time.
She smiled even wider.
"Yes. That’s what the last world runner-up said, too. And the one before that: if I had a little more time... I wouldn’t have failed."
"You know what they have in common?"
"That they’ve all failed to get what they were looking for."
"To say that you would have succeeded with some time is like insulting time."
"Yes, time passes for you and makes you stronger. But do you think it doesn’t pass for your opponent? Given enough time, do you think this test wouldn’t have changed?"
"To ask for time to be successful is not to understand TIME. You will be successful now if you succeed in your category. And you will succeed in the World Cup if you succeed again in your category. Success is success, and it is lived in different stages of life".
"Learn to enjoy it."
"Instead of feeling sad about failing 1, why don’t you rejoice that you succeeded in 56? Just because you won’t be working with me anymore, so you wasted a golden opportunity?"
She leaned into him a little and held out her hand.
"Then think of it as a life lesson. Time makes you stronger, but so do your rivals. Try to be more successful than your rivals, but never blame yourself for what you haven’t achieved. Rather, enjoy what you have already achieved."
"That is the essence of life."
She grabbed his hand and tugged. "You can call me Anna." Smiling.
All her words stunned Elliot, but he felt they made perfect sense.
He had been so focused on succeeding in all the exams that he had forgotten his success in almost all of them, just because of the mistake on the last one.
It wasn’t something worthy of someone who should enjoy every step in life, but...
In his mind, it wasn’t wrong the way he saw it either.
Successful people know that enjoying every step in life is fundamental to living in peace. But those who don’t have it and who yearn for it. Those who have lived in failure and have begun to pick themselves up know that every time they fail, they have an opportunity to look at themselves and blame themselves for the failure.
And to use that guilt as an excuse to improve.
Because the latter were not born to succeed, they were born to fight against the cruel fate that befell them.
They were born to suffer, get up, look ahead, and return to seek that longed-for success.
For that, he smiled at Anna.
"Thank you, Miss Anna." He replied simply.
She then turned around and started walking.
"Let’s go. We have three more attributes left. Today I made you suffer mentally, but the following trainings will teach you why the path of an Awakened One is suffering and painful, hehe."
The laughter at the end made his hair stand on end.
But he followed her, determinedly, looking at his status window.
Thirty stat points increased this week. All in sense.
That was a ridiculously high increase that possibly no one else could achieve in a week.
Still, surely that would be the maximum increase this time. Since his sense attribute was the lowest.
The next attribute to train was Agility.
This time, he was taken to the city’s outskirts, near the Tall-Ar Forest, a naturally formed dungeon.
It was a few valleys near the mountains of Tall-Ar, filled with undead archers and killer rats.
This dungeon was formed from an ancient war that occurred here. The bones and corpses that remained turned these valleys into the Dry Valleys of the Borderlands.
The bush that grows here is never green because of the aura of death that surrounds it. It always has yellow leaves, is dry, and dies very fast.
It is large, and being a valley or something like that makes it difficult to hide, as there is not much to hide behind.
That makes it a dangerous dungeon, even more so because most of the undead are archers. From far away, they can destroy you.
"The level is low, but the difficulty is high. During this time, you will be on your own. You will have to face them, but not kill them. You must dodge, dodge, move, and dodge. Run and dodge. You can never attack if you are not dodging."
"You don’t need to go deep, because your mission, besides dodging, is to get the heads of the seven bosses in this area, killing them in one attack. One head per day: first the blue-headed boss, then the red, yellow, green, purple, gray, and black. Good luck."
After this, she threw him downhill on this small hill, throwing him into the range of the archers without even waiting for his reaction.
