Chapter 111: The Winners of the Tournament
Chapter 111: The Winners of the Tournament
Jenna quickly gave him some high-level potions, not caring about her own pain.
He had lost so much blood that he was pale. And it was all because he had overexerted himself at the last moment and suffered a setback due to his class.
’So killing is possible, but the ability punishes it, huh.’ He frowned. It made sense.
In any case, he didn’t like killing his creations that way, so it wasn’t a problem not to do it.
Besides, this time, it was essential to do so. There was no other choice. He couldn’t let anything happen to Jenna, so he had no problem accepting this punishment if they gave it to him after he completed his mission to save her.
With Jenna’s help, he got up, although his chest hurt.
Then he looked up.
The winner had not yet been announced, but the winner had already been decided.
The entire combat arena was deathly silent, as things had changed drastically.
But Elliot didn’t care. With Jenna and Andrew’s support, he walked toward Andy and Philip’s bodies.
His heart tightened, as did his fists.
Killing his enemies didn’t seem like enough, but they had no choice. They had to act as quickly as possible to prevent the death of more members.
One false move could have meant Jenna’s death.
So he took a deep breath.
It was the first time he had seen a comrade die. He didn’t feel good.
But there was nothing he could do at that moment. They were already dead.
Winning the final didn’t give them the good feeling they had hoped for; it hardly felt like the final.
While deep in thought, Steward and the Guild leaders quickly arrived at the arena, ready to protect them.
"Don’t let your guard down," Steward said as soon as he arrived.
Elliot took a deep breath and understood why he said that.
There was no way those judges hadn’t noticed the needles. They were powerful Masters.
That meant they were allied with the Academy.
’And maybe with the Clarks,’ he thought.
That’s why he had to be careful.
The judges arrived shortly after, along with the Academy leaders. They looked... terrifying.
The seven most talented young people they had had died in combat against a less powerful group.
This was a serious blow not only to the academy’s prestige but also to its current strength.
Talents capable of reaching Master Rank at 18 were rare, even in the capital. Therefore, these kids were incredible.
They should have swept through this tournament; they had the ability.
But...
They were dead.
When the judges stepped onto the arena, the large television above them lit up, proclaiming victory for Angelic Wave.
After this, the spectators finally reacted.
The winners rejoiced, their thunderous roar enveloping the entire city. The losers simply remained silent.
A silence that did not seem to exist, as the winners were making so much noise.
But in the arena, everything was calmer. Even tense.
The judges stared at the winning group and nodded shortly after.
"Congratulations on your victory, Angelic Wave." The first to speak was the leader of the local Awakened Association, who was going to represent the Association’s judges in what they were about to say.
"I didn’t expect you to be so incredible. You have surprised me, and I’m sure you have surprised the people of Loen City. When I saw you fight in your first match, I knew you had great talent, but I didn’t expect it to be this good."
As he spoke, new statistics appeared on the screen.
For example, who was the MVP this time.
Once again, it went to Elliot, and there was no surprise there. Only he deserved it for the burst of power he had shown in such a short time.
Although he ended up injured and losing a lot of blood, his movement and quick decision-making were instrumental in keeping the team and the advantage.
That’s why he won the MVP.
With this, he cemented his place as the tournament’s biggest winner.
"The Tournament of the Stars ends today. As judges who have watched every match with attention and interest, we award Angelic Wave not only as the tournament winner but also as the undisputed number one. Member Elliot Clark, winner of the MVP four times in a row, takes home the top prize this time."
"He is named the number one player of the 18 and under generation and is awarded the Star Knights Leader award."
He stepped forward and presented him with a small badge of recognition. "Congratulations," he said. He also gave him a check he could cash at the Association and a few other things.
It wasn’t the main prize for the tournament; that would be given to the guild.
For now, these were individual awards.
Starting this way, without acknowledging the other participants, left a strange taste in some people’s mouths.
This...
Could it mean something big?
"Likewise. Angelic Wave also has a very talented person, whose sword skills amazed us all. Miss Jenna, being the first woman to receive the title of Star Knight, takes second place."
Jenna wasn’t very excited and was helping Elliot stand, so she didn’t think much of it for now.
"With the two leaders of the new Star Knights present, we call upon the Guilds that have previously made and signed a deal to abide by it. These two new leaders will need your support so that they can excel in the big leagues in the future." He looked at the other guilds as a reminder and then continued with his words.
"There aren’t many surprises this time around. As the undisputed winners of the title, they deserve all the awards. Many will ask, ’Why don’t we give out the awards with all the teams together?’ It’s simple: no one else deserves the awards."
"Andrew, Chris, and Rich are also named Star Knights. For the first time, a single team has taken all five Star Knight spots. I hope this doesn’t cause any problems with the other guilds, as these five are the most outstanding in the city. I hope they are all supported in the same way that you would support your members. Nothing more to say."
"Congratulations to the winners."
With that, the judges’ speech ended, and the main prize was presented to Steward, along with several other items that he would later have to distribute among the members and the guild.
The bodies of the Academy members were removed, and so were the judges.
No one else looked back, which was a relief for the members of Angelic Wave.
They returned to headquarters shortly after, without saying a word about it.
The team’s fans were jubilant, but the team members seemed to have a dark cloud hanging over them.
Elliot recovered, as did Jenna.
Andy and Philip had to be sent for a proper funeral.
Meanwhile, in Steward’s office.
Joferth, Steward, the 2nd Guild Master, and another person were gathered.
"Sir, the Leader has responded quickly this time. He requests to speak with you." Joferth came in, carrying a high-security cell phone that few people use.
Steward nodded and took it.
"Sir, it’s been a while since we’ve heard from you."
"Steward, I’ve heard that Loen is not peaceful these days."
"What do you mean, sir? Everything seems quiet lately," asked Steward, puzzled.
That made the man on the other side laugh.
"Hehe. My senses are very sharp these days. It seems that some bigwigs are stirring in the shadows of Loen. They’re looking for the little hammer. It seems they still can’t sleep at night for fear of retaliation from that little guy."
Steward frowned. His face fell visibly when he heard this. But he nodded.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t know. Thank you for telling me." He replied.
"Haha, I was just passing by. Besides, I heard that little SkyDome awaken and is now at the guild. Is he the person you were telling me about?"
"Yes, sir," he replied. "His name is Elliot, and he has a deep hatred for the Clarks and swears he’ll destroy them. He has a close relationship with the daughter of the survivor of a Nurotaur Ruin. She’s Miss White."
"Yes, I heard that too," replied the voice on the other end of the phone. "I’m curious about that pair. But for now, tell me about that boy, Elliot. How talented is he? He was described to me as amazing, but that’s not a number. I need something concrete."
"Sir, I can’t give you a number," Steward shook his head with a sigh.
"Is it difficult for you to measure?" he asked.
"It’s not that it’s difficult, sir."
"Then what?"
"It’s impossible to measure with numbers. If the scale is 10, then he’s a 20. If it’s 100, he’s 200. No matter what scale you use, he’ll exceed it. His talent can’t be described with words, let alone numbers."
His words reflected something much more profound. Something rarely seen. A ridiculous talent.
Something impossible?
