Game of Love and Deception: The Billionaire's Ex Wife -
Chapter 98: His password
Chapter 98: His password
Lorenzo scratched his head, then tilted a brow.
"It’s, eh—nothing serious at all. Just some interesting news," he said with a bit of amusement in his voice.
Ashley gave him a suspicious stare. He gently leaned her forward and fastened her seatbelt. Heat spread through her skin. Even when they weren’t in the best place, he still treated her with such care.
"Can I see?" she asked, once Lorenzo started the car and drove out of the mansion.
"Are your kids okay?"
Ashley’s brows furrowed in confusion.
"My kids?"
"Yeah, the ones you went to see." He cast her a teasing glance.
Ashley rolled her eyes. "My kids are perfectly fine. Greg too... he’s recovering really quick."
"Good to know," he replied, waving a hand across his face. "Kinda miss his grumpy self."
Ashley laughed. After a quiet pause, she turned to face him.
"So, now that you’re done avoiding my question, can I see your phone?"
"Why would you want to see my phone?"
Lorenzo made a turn, and Ashley, too focused on trying to get his phone, didn’t even notice.
"Why else? To see the ’interesting news’ you spoke about."
"What if I don’t want to share?"
"Then I’d assume you were just watching some porn."
"What?!" Lorenzo shot her a disbelieving glance.
"A gay porn maybe. Yes, that has to be the reason you’re doing everything to hide it," she added with a straight face.
Lorenzo’s face twisted in disgust as a memory flashed in his mind.
"Take." He handed her the phone.
"You can own it if you want."
Ashley laughed again, and he wished he could listen to the sound all day.
"What’s the password?"
"Ashley1118."
"Huh? Wait..." She paused, brows furrowing. "Your password is my name and birthdate?"
Her heart raced.
Lorenzo’s car slowed to a stop. She looked around, confused.
"This... isn’t your house."
Lorenzo leaned back in his seat. "Looks more like a rooftop bar to me," he replied with amusement.
"Wait, how did we get here without me noticing?"
"You were busy fighting for my phone," he said, clearly enjoying her confusion.
She bit her lip, taking in the beautiful string lights hanging across the trees and the live music drifting from inside the building. It had been ages since she visited a place like this—since she last danced to some country music.
She was tempted to get out of the car and rush in for a cocktail. But something told her fun wasn’t the only reason Lorenzo brought her here.
Turning to him, she asked quietly, "Why are we here though? I thought we were supposed to go home and talk."
"Yeah, you’re right." He turned off the engine and faced her. Ashley’s heart skipped for no reason. "But I thought, since our lives have been full of tension lately, maybe we could talk somewhere more... lively, more beautiful. Somewhere different from the house. Like here." He swallowed.
Ashley thinned her lips, briefly fiddling with the phone in her hand.
"Not bad... I think I like it too." Her pulse refused to stop racing.
"Perfect then," Lorenzo replied, tapping his steering wheel lightly. He was nervous too. "You didn’t check the news again."
"Yup! Got carried away by... you."
She turned on the screen and tried the password he’d given her earlier. It worked. Her name and birthday. He still remembered. Quietly, she drew in a deeper breath. He seemed to remember everything about her, everything she’d ever shared. And with that, her impatience to know why he left only grew stronger.
"OMG! Four of Christian’s restaurants got blacklisted." She stared at the screen, eyes wide in disbelief.
Lorenzo gave a slow nod, unsure whether she was sad or excited.
"And I kinda think it happened at the perfect time, since your launch is in two days," he said quietly.
Ashley’s gaze shifted to him.
"With a good pitch, you could get the investors he’s about to lose to come over to your side."
She nodded thoughtfully. He was right. In fact, she’d already begun meeting with some of Christian’s investors—people she’d gotten to know back when she was managing some of his branches. A few seemed willing to give her a chance.
But four of Christian’s companies blacklisted in one night? That was... odd. Suspicious, even. Still, part of her felt like he deserved every single misfortune that came his way. His whole world could fall apart for all she cared.
"There’s someone I’d like you to meet," Lorenzo said, cutting through her thoughts. "Maybe tomorrow or after the launch. A social media manager. Social media is everything now."
Ashley nodded, a small, instinctive smile pulling at her lips. The amount of support he’d been giving her—it made her chest tighten. It made her want to cry.
She’d been working hard for the launch—meeting with investors, scouting for chefs. Not just anyone with shiny certificates, but real cooks. People who understood flavor and culture. She wanted to focus more on local dishes, unlike most restaurants that prioritized international menus. She wanted it affordable—something the average person could enjoy.
But in all that planning, she hadn’t once thought about leveraging social media.
And here he was, thinking about it for her. Like he was the extension of her mind. Like he wanted only the best things for her. She felt seen in everyway.
Christian had never cared about any of her dreams. Never supported her business ideas. He always treated them like threats—like her ambition was a tactic to break free from his control.
But then, for a very brief moment, she wondered—what if all of this was just a way to soften her? Buy her forgiveness? A bribe before he told her something that might break her again?
She swallowed, pushing the thought away.
She wasn’t going to rush her judgment and be wrong again. Not this time. Even if there was a twisted reason behind his actions, somehow... it still warmed her soul. After all, Christian had never done any of this for her—not for love, not for guilt, not for anything.
"Thank you, Enzo," she said, almost in a whisper.
Lorenzo’s heart skipped several beats when she said it. Enzo. The way she used to call him back then. He didn’t even know how much he’d missed that nickname until now.
They spent some more time talking about the new business. Lorenzo explained how she could run it from the shadows until she was ready to go public. It was something he’d done for years—it was easier than she thought, as long as she had the right team. Ashley mentioned she already had a manager in mind. Just talking about it made her feel nervous and excited. She could hardly believe that one of her biggest dreams was slowly becoming reality.
When they were done, Lorenzo reached for his phone, his tone shifting slightly.
"I said I had something on Roseline," he muttered, pulling up a video and handing the phone back to her. "There it is."
Ashley’s brows furrowed as she watched the short clip. Her confusion grew the longer she stared.
Turning to Lorenzo with a puzzled expression, she asked, "Who’s he?"
