Chapter 79: Forbidden and exhilarating
Kayla and Calvin were locked in a hushed conversation when she spotted Christian’s car pulling into the compound through the living room’s glass door.
She shot Calvin the "time to get in character" look, and rose just as Christian neared the entrance.
"Babe!" she squealed, abandoning the comedy show they’d been pretending to watch and rushing to the door.
Christian caught her in a hug, their lips meeting briefly before they walked in together, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist. Calvin’s hands curled into fists at his sides as he watched.
"Calvin," Christian greeted warmly, stretching out his hand.
Calvin stood, forcing a tight smile as he shook it.
"How was your trip?"
"Hectic, man. But I’m just glad to be back with my baby," Christian said, squeezing Kayla’s waist. She smiled up at him.
Calvin laughed; a brittle, unnatural sound.
Kayla flicked a quick glance at him, just enough for Calvin to catch the flicker of unease before she snapped her attention back to Christian.
"Babe, you should go shower so we can have lunch before Calvin leaves," she said.
"He’s leaving today?" Christian asked, glancing between them. "I thought he was staying till tomorrow?"
She shot Calvin a look.
"Yeah, that was the plan," he said smoothly. "But my business wrapped up earlier than I expected."
Christian nodded. "You can still stay, though. I’m sure your sister’s not tired of you yet. Am I wrong, baby?"
"Of course not," Kayla replied with a bright smile. "I’ve been begging him to stay another day or two, but he claims he has to attend a friend’s engagement party. He’s such a sly."
The two men chuckled.
"Apparently, the engagement’s tonight, not tomorrow like I thought," Calvin added, shrugging. "Some confusion with the invites. I promised I’d be there, so..."
"Then I better hurry up so you don’t miss your flight," Christian said, already heading for the stairs, with Kayla.
Calvin’s jaw clenched in both anger and disgust as he watched them ascend the stairs, Christian’s hand still casually resting on her waist. Truly, he had planned to leave tomorrow, but that changed moments before Christian arrived. Kayla had been upset, but he didn’t think that was still the case now.
The thought of staying in this environment any longer didn’t sit well with him anymore. He was losing his grip on the whole "cousin" act, and if he had to watch Christian touch his girl like that for another day, he might just snap and punch him in the face.
He slumped back into the couch, but the thought of them upstairs, possibly tearing into each other right now crossed his mind. He got up and bolted out of the parlor, needing to escape the suffocating atmosphere.
Not long after, a maid came to call him for lunch once Kayla and Christian had returned downstairs.
The meal had dragged on, the last ten minutes being the most excruciating. Christian and Kayla’s nauseating display of affection only made it worse, and the bastard wouldn’t stop asking questions—about business, family, as if they were strangers meeting for the first time.
It was getting harder to keep up the lies, to answer carefully, making sure nothing contradicted what he’d said before. And pretending to laugh at his jokes and feigning interest in hearing how much he "loved his cousin"? It was almost as if Christian knew he was driving him insane, and kept pushing just to watch him squirm.
Finally, it came to an end.
"Thank you so much for having me, guys," Calvin said, pushing his chair back, standing.
"I know you’re in a bit of a rush, but please, give me a minute," Christian said, stopping him.
He left the room for a moment, returning shortly with a checkbook. Calvin watched in disbelief as the moron casually wrote him a $500,000 check.
"This should help with your business," he said, handing it over with a grin.
"Oh, baby, you’re so sweet," Kayla cooed, kissing Christian as he sat down.
Watching their lips connect for what felt like the millionth time since his arrival, Calvin felt like gauging out his eyes, his barely contained anger threatening to slip past his smiling mask.
For a split second, he wondered if Kayla was actually enjoying being with Christian, if he’d been the fool all along.
"Thanks, bro. I appreciate this," he said, casting a quick glance at Kayla before walking away.
A moment later, Kayla excused herself, claiming she needed to check if her cousin was done packing.
"You can drive him to the airport alone, right?" Christian asked, not looking up from his phone.
"I think so."
"Alright, I’ll be upstairs resting then."
Kayla nodded, watching him disappear upstairs before making her way to the guest quarters.
She knocked on the door to Calvin’s room, but when there was no answer, she slowly turned the handle and stepped inside. After locking the door behind her, she approached the bedroom where she found him already dressed, his bag almost packed. He didn’t acknowledge her presence.
"Are you mad at me?" she asked, unable to stand the silence any longer.
Calvin threw the last of his belongings into the bag and zipped it shut.
"Hey," she tried again, reaching out to touch his arm, but he easily caught her wrist. His face was tight with frustration.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the main house, rubbing yourself all over him like you couldn’t wait to have him back?" he snapped, his voice low, edged with jealousy.
Kayla flinched at his tone, but didn’t move away. She reached for him again, hand trembling.
"I had to," she whispered, her voice tinged with a quiet desperation. "You know I had to."
"Did you?" Calvin’s grip on her wrist tightened, his gaze turning sharper. "Because from where I was sitting, it looked like you were enjoying yourself just fine."
Kayla’s breath hitched, but she stood her ground. "I didn’t want him to suspect anything."
"Then why are you here now, huh?"
"He said I could drive you to the airport."
Calvin scoffed, dropping her wrist. "You’re probably relieved that I’m leaving already, so you can rush back into his arms. Just tell me the truth—are you in love with him again? Or you just enjoying his dick more than you want to admit?"
Kayla’s jaw clenched, and before she could stop herself, she slapped him across the face. "How dare you speak to me like that. I’m doing this for us!"
Calvin rubbed his cheek, his eyes darkening as he approached her. "You’re still doing this for us, right?"
His voice was softer but dangerous.
Kayla swallowed, and offered a quick nod. She took a step back, eyes fixed on him.
"Are you sure?"
Her back hit the wall and Calvin closed the distance, his hand pressing against it, trapping her.
"Calvin... we need to go," she whispered, voice trembling slightly.
"Did he already have you when I was waiting for lunch?" His tone was demanding, dark.
"Calvin," she whispered his name, a plea for him to stop.
"Answer me," he commanded, brushing a strand of her hair back harshly. There was nothing tender in the way he touched her.
"I... I promise, you’re the one I love," she stammered, trying to steady herself.
He chuckled, but it wasn’t a sound of amusement. It was cold. She hasn’t seen him like this before.
"Really? Because it didn’t look that way a few minutes ago." He traced a finger along her chest. "Tell me, Kayla, is it still me you want? Or is it him?"
"You. You’re the one I’ll always want," she replied, panting softly from the effect of his finger still crawling on her skin.
"So, does that mean I can have you right now?" His voice dropped even lower, almost a growl. "You know, like a parting gift."
She swallowed nothing.
He stepped closer, his body pressing into hers. "Maybe if you show me, I’ll believe you."
Kayla’s breath quickened, fear and desire warring in her chest. She knew the consequences. Christian could walk in at any moment, and the thought of that—of everything falling apart—made her heart race faster.
"Calvin, Christian might walk in on us, and it wouldn’t be good." Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she couldn’t look away from him. His gaze pinned hers.
"That’s my answer right there, darling." He slowly traced her neckline with some strands of her hair curled around his index. Delicious tingles spread through Kayla’s body in response."You don’t feel anymore shit for me."
"You know that’s not true," she muttered, voice coming out more breathy.
"Then fucking show me," he urged.
Kayla’s gaze turned sharper, pleading but Calvin’s stare only grew more intense.
The air felt suffocating, thick with tension. Her heart hammered in her chest, and for a moment, she wasn’t sure if it was the fear or the need for something more that had her standing there.
Finally, with a shaky breath, she dropped to her knees.
A slow smile spread across Calvin’s lips as she began to undo his pants.
"That’s my girl," he murmured, eyes fluttering shut the second he felt the warmness of her saliva wrap around his length.
His hands reached out, fingers tangling further in her hair as his head tipped back, a quiet groan escaping him.
Kayla’s eyes never left the door as her mouth and hands moved skillfully, alternating between sucking, licking, stroking and taking as much of his shaft as she could. She kept hoping that nothing brings Christian or any of the house staff to the quarters. Christian would end them if he learned of this.
Calvin struggled to not moan out loud, but it was nearly impossible.
The fear of being caught only heightened the tension between them, making every moment feel like it could be their last. The sensation was both forbidden and exhilarating.
His grip in her hair tightened, and then he began to thrust into her mouth harder, faster, driven by the reckless edge of release building inside him.
Meanwhile, Christian had just reached his room when a sudden thought struck him. Without hesitation, he turned and headed back toward the guest quarters, hoping he wasn’t already too late.
