Game of Love and Deception: The Billionaire's Ex Wife -
Chapter 56: Unleashed
Chapter 56: Unleashed
The bidding event continued after Kayla and Christian left, and close to the end, Ashley excused herself to use the restroom.
She found it amusing, if not slightly annoying that she’d lost the Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting, which she had planned to buy for her grandpa, to none other than Lorenzo. She still didn’t know what had gotten into him when he battled her and another bidder for it, smirking victoriously the entire time.
In the end, they both lost to him at $26 million. Since then, Lorenzo had been grinning like he’d just won the lottery. Ashley couldn’t deny he was a little infuriating. He’d also bought the diamond ring Christian had made a fuss over, and she couldn’t help but wonder what he planned to do with it. Lorenzo Grey was the true definition of petty.
As she neared the ladies’ restroom, following the arrows, she began to hear sniffing sounds, like someone crying.
She considered turning back, but she was very pressed, so she pushed the door open. To her relief, she didn’t see anyone in the mirror area, and when she listened closely, she realized the person was likely in one of the toilets. So, she entered the free one and peed. By the time she was done, the crying had stopped, and she suspected the person had quieted down when they heard her enter.
Ashley couldn’t help but wonder if the lady was okay. Upon stepping out of the toilet, the person had left, and she felt a bit of relief that they didn’t get to meet because she wouldn’t have known what to say and then it would be awkward.
Just when she was going to leave, she bumped onto Kayla at the main door, walking in.
Kayla glared dangerously at Ashley the minute she spotted her, sizing her up like a predator ready to seize its prey. As much as the mere sight of the cold hearted-bitch always irritated Ashley, she wasn’t in the mood for any drama at the moment.
So, she stepped aside to let Kayla go in so she could leave, but instead of doing that, Kayla moved to block her path.
Ashley pinched the bridge of her nose in annoyance. Was she never going to grow up?
"Kayla, you’re supposed to move to a side so I can pass," she explained calmly, instead of shouting as she was tempted to do.
"I see you’re calling me a dummy who doesn’t know her path, huh?" Kayla eyed her furiously. Ashley rubbed her temple, feeling a slight headache.
"I called you Kayla, but thanks for correcting me. Now, move out of my way, you dumb ass!" She finally raised her voice, and Kayla flinched slightly, but still didn’t leave her path.
Was Kayla really here to use the restroom, or had she been following her? Ashley hadn’t even realized they were still at the event. Without warning, she grabbed Kayla by the shoulder and shoved her out of her way.
"You bitch! How dare you lay your filthy hands on me!" Kayla scurried toward her, and as Ashley turned, she received a strike across the face, catching her off guard.
The slap sent shockwaves through her, and she felt her eyes turn red with anger.
She took a deep breath. Inhaling, exhaling. Inhaling, exhaling. But her anger only grew.
One, two, three.
Ashley spun around, and her palm connected with Kayla’s face so hard that she staggered backward, her head tilting sideways.
Her hand flew to her cheek, and Ashley felt a strange satisfaction when she noticed her eyes glisten.
"How dare..." Kayla began, but Ashley took that as a clue to repeat the action, this time on her other cheek. Kayla’s head tilted the opposite direction, and the water in her eyes finally fell as she held both of her cheeks.
"Just another word from you and I swear..." Ashley started.
But Kayla shouted at the pitch of her squeaky voice, "You’ll regret this!"
Now, Ashley had no choice but to teach her a real lesson.
Yanking Kayla by her hair, she struggled but finally dragged her fully into the toilet, tuning out her screams as she locked the door.
"Ashley! Let me go! Let me go now!" Kayla screamed, but Ashley shut her up with another slap. If there was something to regret, she wanted to be sure it was worth it.
She dragged her toward a corner.
"Stop it! Ah!" Kayla screamed as Ashley shoved her to the floor and pounced on her, unleashing a series of punches.
Every betrayal flashed before her–Kayla’s smug smirk after each lie, the whispers behind her back, the nights Ashley cried alone while Christian showered Kayla with attention. The times she’d caught them together—her husband, no, her ex-husband, wrapped in the arms of the woman who had made her life a living hell. The times she’d teamed up with Katelyn to make her life more miserable.
Rage consumed her.
Years of bottled emotions—frustration, bitterness, hatred...all came pouring out in violent waves.
Maybe she’d been waiting for this moment far longer than she’d ever dared to admit.
Kayla couldn’t fight back, only managing to shield her head with her hands.
And Ashley didn’t stop until she heard knocks on the door. Kayla’s screams had at the end attracted attention.
Ashley grabbed her by her hair and pulled her to sit up, resting her back against the wall. She panted heavily while Kayla whimpered nonstop, her hair completely disheveled, obviously more than Ashley’s.
"I let you bully me back at Christian’s house, and you assumed I couldn’t defend myself, huh?" She said, her voice low but firm.
She forced Kayla to look at her, feeling satisfaction at the wince of pain that crossed Kayla’s face from her hair still in her grasp. "I let you do whatever you wanted with me because I didn’t want to be in Christian’s bad books."
Kayla’s once haughty gaze dropped to the floor. "But you should know better now. I don’t give a fuck about him or you anymore!"
The knock came again, this time louder, more urgent, almost violent, like the person was ready to break the door down if she didn’t answer.
"Kayla! Are you in there?" the person shouted.
It was Christian.
As if she’d been waiting for him to show up and rescue her like some damsel in distress, Kayla’s sobs grew louder, more dramatic, as though she’d suddenly remembered to perform for an audience.
