Chapter 51: We have to celebrate

A few hours later, Christian arrived at the office and was still settling in when Katherine entered.

She offered him a shy smile after closing the door behind her.

"Good afternoon, Mister Harrington," she greeted in a tiny soft voice.

Christian gave her a slow once-over, noting how her sky-blue two-piece mini skirt hugged her body, emphasizing her curves. She still looked professional, but he suspected the dress had been chosen with a hidden agenda.

"Afternoon, Kat. I thought we were past the formalities whenever we’re alone?" he asked, memories of their recent sexual escapades playing through his mind—especially the most recent one. Christian had fucked her senseless in his car the day before, right after a conference meeting. She tasted better than many girls he’d been with, and he didn’t think he could ever let her go. Unless, of course, he found a better replacement.

Katherine’s eyes darted around shyly.

Christian decided to give her time to calm her nerves. And of course give her pussy a little resting time to recover from all the work it had been doing lately.

"Why are you here?" he asked, shifting back to a professional tone.

"An invitation arrived for you this morning. The Fowler’s Auction event. It’ll be happening in four nights," Katherine announced.

Christian nodded. "Alright. Drop it on my table. I’ll check it out later."

As Katherine approached his desk, he caught a glimpse of her cleavage, slightly visible beneath her V-neck inner blouse.

Christian swallowed hard, fighting the urge to grab her, spread her across his desk, and do filthy things to her. When she dropped the envelope on his desk, he gently brushed a stray hair from her face, their eyes locking in a charged moment.

She smiled, her cheeks turning pink.

He gave her a wink, and her blush deepened. She still couldn’t hold his gaze, which amused him, considering how many times they’d already slept together. He liked confident women like Kayla, but there was something intriguing about Katherine’s shy and innocent demeanor. He planned to keep her around for a long time.

"Do you need anything else, sir?" she asked, her tone professional, though he sensed something personal in her question. She was teasing him—he could tell from the way she bit her lower lip.

Fixing his gaze on her chest, Christian tore out a piece of paper and scribbled an address.

"Meet me at this address after work today, Katherine," he instructed, handing her the note that carried the direction to his penthouse. "Unnoticed... and without your panties," he added, slowly licking his bottom lip.

Katherine gasped softly at his last words—a low, sultry sound that got Christian instantly hard. He was going to punish her tonight for being such a bad girl.

Katherine leaned forward, as if wanting to say something, but the door creaked open before she could speak. Gabriel stepped into the office.

Katherine quickly straightened up, collected the note, and excused herself with a slight bow. Christian struggled not to stare at her ass as she walked away.

Gabriel’s gaze followed her as she passed, but Christian cleared his throat, snapping his attention back. "Do you want to state your business, or should I tell Molita you now ogle my secretary in my presence?"

Gabriel shook his head with a chuckle before taking a seat. "She’s acting weird," he stated.

Christian feigned ignorance, dismissing the comment with a shrug.

"Anyway, I have some news... Two News, actually. One good, one bad. Which do you want first?" Gabriel went ahead to state what had brought him.

Christian frowned slightly. "What’s the bad news?"

Gabriel leaned forward, elbows resting on his legs. "Miss Devonshire is making a move to partner with Flynn Enterprise’s transportation sector," he revealed, looking concerned. "So, I came to let you know."

Christian’s blood boiled. "The same deal she refused to give us?"

Gabriel nodded. "Yeah, something like that."

Devonshire Group was a company that transported household items across various parts of the country, and with Harrington Corp owning a major trucking sector, their partnership could have thrived.

Christian clenched his jaw, his anger rising. Ashley had recently secured a partnership with Grey Group, and now other companies were lining up to work with Flynn Enterprise. He had clearly underestimated his little ex-wife.

"Set up a meeting between me and Jacob Devonshire. I want to know what the sidelined heir thinks of his little sister taking his place."

Gabriel gave him a skeptical look, probably wanting to talk him out of it, but Christian’s expression made it clear it wasn’t a suggestion.

"What about the application we submitted to Grey Group?" He asked, changing the subject. If he wasn’t mistaken, it had been almost two weeks since they applied.

Gabriel’s face lit up with a grin. "I told you there was good news."

Christian leaned back in his seat, a mix of surprise and happiness on his face.

"We secured the partnership, man," Gabriel announced. "Now we just need to meet their representatives and sign the contract."

He sounded just as excited as Christian felt.

"We have to celebrate," Christian said, standing up and heading for his mini fridge to grab a bottle of wine. At least one very goodnews at the end. It was definitely worth celebrating.

But Gabriel stopped him. "I can’t drink right now. Still have some urgent work to finish."

"Then we’ll go out after closing," Christian offered, settling back in his chair.

"Alright, boss," Gabriel replied, shaking Christian’s hand before heading for the door. "But I won’t stay out too late—Molita’s been on my neck lately," he added before stepping out.

Christian shook his head. Gabriel was always a pushover when it came to Molita, but he didn’t bother arguing. There was no point. His best friend was hopelessly wrapped around his annoying wife’s fingers.

The partnership news felt almost too good to be true—but it was real. And Christian wasn’t going to let anything spoil his mood. His company was finally getting the recognition it deserved. Soon, they wouldn’t just be in high demand in the business world... they’d be the ones turning investors down.

He unlocked his phone, scrolling through his social media feed initially with a smile, but everywhere he turned, Ashley and Lorenzo’s faces kept popping up. They looked so happy, and it irritated him to the core.

After a moment, he tossed the phone aside with a hiss and headed to the fridge to grab the bottle of wine Gabriel had declined. His mood went from elation to completely sour in the blink of an eye.
