Chapter 79: Luminari

"What are you doing?" Bune turned around and glared at the light heading in their direction.

However, he was ignored as light arrows bombarded Kaiju. The latter was taken aback, summoning the Frostfang Dagger, while evading some of the arrows. Little Gorilla helped as well, deflecting the arrows with his staff. Although he has not ascended his staff mastery to advance, the skill, Radiant Fervor, condensed the light mana on the staff. Snow activated Icicle Spines skill, limiting them to deflecting more arrows to conserve her mana points.

She might be infuriated for someone to dare harm her master but she was clear-headed, learning a lot from Qwanisha’s lesson. The other three serpents did not stay idle either, as they deflected some arrows with their elemental magic.

Bune was staring at the nearing light, which was expanding as it grew closer to them, and finally could not take it anymore as he swung his right arm, and a wall of violet flame blocked the entirety of the rain of arrows.

"Stop!"

Hellfire Manipulation. Kaiju thought. The innate talent most of the higher races possessed was the ability to manipulate the element they were born with. Though, some other higher races, like werewolves, have their innate talent not on the element but the superstrength, berserk.

"What are you doing?" Finally, the source of a light had spoken and the voice appeared to be feminine.

"I was the first one to ask!" Bune retracted the violet flame when he sensed the source of light stopped attacking anymore.

The appearance of the source of light finally revealed. Luminari. Kaiju’s expression turned grave. Luminaries are beings born out of pure light, and their appearance shifted to whatever they liked, but they mostly appeared in humanoid form. Luminari claimed they were the descendants of the Creator, even though they did not point out if it was the same creator who created the Tower. After all, it was light that started the creations of life.

It contradicted the belief of the Angel races, who relied on the holy scripture, stating there was only a single Creator and everything was his creations, he did not have descendants. The conflicts of Angels and Luminaries are evident.

If only their God could communicate with them, their conflict would have been long settled. Alas, the Angel races could only rely on the holy scripture given by God a long time ago and they were limited to borrowing his powers. Meanwhile, the Luminari held to the beliefs that the Creator who created everything similar to the God the Angel worshipped was their progenitor.

Kaiju glanced at the Luminari in front of him, and from what he read in the textbook, Luminari lacked sharp physical features compared to Angels, who was deemed as the most handsome and beautiful existence in the Tower. Their eyes were not like humans, just molten lights or galaxies. The biggest distinction between Luminari and Angels was their wings, as the latter has feathers and in concrete form, while Luminari was abstract and the design was a geometric pattern–it doesn’t even flap.

Luminari could manipulate the light while Angel relied on the blessings of the power of God and their power was leaned more on weapons, like the spear of judgement. They were both difficult to deal with. Simply put, Luminari are mages and Angels are warriors in a sense.

Good thing I have Light Resistance. Kaiju, to calm down himself, activated the Emotionless skill and his thoughts cleared. At the same time, he communicated with his pets, including the tamed beasts, through telepathy.

"Fight is inevitable against them, that infernals might be convinced to fight us, too. Aqua, Zephyr, and Ember adapt Snow’s fighting style."

The three serpents feel apprehensive, but for some reason, their attribute points increased, too. Kaiju explained the phenomena to them because it was related to his class. He even gave them a heads up that their combat efficiency would increase.

Kaiju then focused on the infernal and luminari. Good thing they can’t work together. The Hunter’s Gambit formation will be very effective against them.

"Isn’t it obvious?" The Luminari rolled her eyes while levitating in mid-air. Particles of light fell from her wings to keep her floating. "Whoever manages to kidnap that kid can blackmail that Overlord beast."

"Are you crazy?" Bune glared at the Luminari. "We are still not that far from the Overlord beast, what if he is alarmed and manages to annihilate us."

"Idiot! We just have to do it before that happens!"

Bune was about to retort when the Luminari closed her eyes and her body discharged intense, dazzling light.

"Crazy, crazy, crazy. She went crazy!" Bune that conversation was over and he had to blink five meters away. He was still affected by the expanding, fierce, blazing light, but he intensified the hellfire coating his body to resist it.

He stared at the Luminari in disbelief. "She is really not kidding. She activated her bloodline awakening, is she mad?!"

When someone activated their bloodline awakening, it is similar to the berserk skill of the Werewolves, where, once it loses its effects, they would be vulnerable and be weakened for a period of time. Worse, they might be unconscious if they overdone it. Hence, most of the bloodline bearers reserved the bloodline awakening until the last moments.

In addition, most of the bloodline depends on the rank of their ancestor, and most of the other higher races present have an ancient rank bloodline. Luminari was the same. Most of the bloodline awakening elevated their powers, making it more passive. The Luminari’s bloodline awakening was obviously radiating more pure light energy to her surroundings, benefitting their allies and harming their enemies.

Under the light’s presence, Bune could already feel the suppression of the Luminari’s bloodline awakening, even feeling blinded, causing him to lose the presence of the Luminari. Pure Light with a cleansing effect was their nemesis, so Bune knew that Luminari was difficult to deal with. If he wanted to contend with the Luminari, he has to activate his bloodline awakening, too.

Just as he was deciding, he was taken aback when another bloodline awakening activated. It was similar to the Luminari but it was different, it was, after all, another bloodline awakening of the light element.

He turned to the direction of the newly bloodline awakening and was shaken when he was familiar with the location.

"Did he have a bloodline awakening, too?"
