Chapter 90: Where Embarrassment Meets Obsession
Chapter 90: Where Embarrassment Meets Obsession
After Big sister and her companion left, Leo let out a sigh of relief and moved across the living room.
He approached the tall wardrobe in the corner and opened it. As he stared at rows of neatly hung designer clothes, he pondered what to wear. His fingers brushed against the sleeve of an ivory trench coat, then slid over the smooth fabric of a navy blazer. Leo tilted his head, lost in thought. The image flashed before him again. Those snow-white strands...
His saviour.
Leo’s cheeks flushed a faint pink as he remembered that night. He had been completely exposed that day, vulnerable, unconscious, naked. And that young man had seen everything. He had dressed him clumsily, with not a trace of improper intent. But still...
Leo shut his eyes briefly, biting the inside of his cheek. He was grateful, of course, but it didn’t stop the embarrassment from spreading across his face like he was on fire. It wasn’t just about being seen naked. It was what it meant to him.
Even though he had two older brothers, from a young age, his parents had taught him never to show his body to anyone. At that time, he hadn’t fully understood their strictness and had listened to them, but after growing up, he knew what his parents were worried about. And he was grateful to have such parents.
So, this young man was the first to see his full body naked. And yet, Leo had felt oddly safe.
He shook his head as if to clear away the thought. No, he didn’t mean anything by it. He was just helping. It wasn’t like that. (Leo’s obsession rose to another notch!)
Still, that didn’t stop the butterflies from fluttering in his chest.
(Of course, Leo had blocked his manager, Hurt, out of his mind. That was not a person—just an animal.)
After another minute of indecision, Leo finally reached for a simple black button-up shirt and a pair of matching pants. This was low-key but also stylish. He quickly changed and stepped in front of a mirror.
He wasn’t sure why, but he felt excited. Nervous, even. His heart beat just a little faster, thinking he was about to see the young man. It was the kind of anticipation that made his palms sweat slightly.
He had pictured different faces, but none seemed to be right.
But the most crucial question was, would he be happy to see him? Would he be satisfied that he could find him?
Leo paused. There was also the possibility that the young man he no intention of being found and became angry at the sight of him.
Leo sighed and buttoned his shirt. He tousled his hair slightly and put on a mask and a cap, disguising himself.
He went straight to the parking lot and drove to the address Seth had given him.
After half an hour, he finally arrived at his destination. He spotted Seth waiting with two men in military uniforms.
Leo quickly parked, pulled down his mask a little and jumped out of the car.
"Was I late?!" Leo asked, looking at his watch.
"No, right on time," Seth shook his head.
"So why did you bring cadets?! This wasn’t supposed to be a military thing." Leo whispered.
"Well," Seth scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "I was in a bit of a rush. When I checked the hotel records, I found someone staying in the room next to yours. But the person paid in cash. No bank record. I narrowed it down to one name. But...he is probably not your saviour. So, I bring them to intimidate them. This way, they would spill the beans more quickly."
Leo stopped mid-step, looking at his older brother questioningly.
"I thought you said you found him."
When Seth had called to tell him they might have identified someone, Leo hadn’t even waited for the full explanation. He had been too eager, too impulsive to know about the man, but Seth had been on duty and cut the call short before giving him such a detail.
"I said I found his trail! Listen to people when they talk. I figured out you like to be part of the checking process and called you."
Leo pressed his lips together. He realised he had been too excited and misunderstood Seth’s words. Still, there was a bit of hope that the man inside might be his saviour.
He nodded and followed his older brother.
The sight of uniformed soldiers walking into the Bar caused immediate disruption. Customers glanced up warily, and the staff froze.
A man came rushing over, smoothing his messy curls.
"Gentlemen, good evening. I am Jullian Miller, the owner here. How can I help you??"
"We just have a few questions," Seth said, flashing his badge.
Leo’s heart sank. Looking at the owner, he felt that finding his saviour had moved further away from his reach.
This person’s voice and hair colour were too different to be him.
Leo followed them to an office, disappointment sinking heavily in his chest.
After closing the door, Seth asked right away. "Mr. Miller, where were you last Friday night?"
Jullian froze for a second. He had gone gambling after he had turned Micah’s car in for cash.
On the day Micah had visited the bar, Jullian had been too excited and ended up getting himself drunk. Not only had he lost the chance to secure more funds from him, but he had also lost his phone. It took a week for that mysterious backer to find him, demanding an answer. After knowing the reason, they just ordered him to be cautious and left.
Now the military was here. What’s with his life today?!
"I went out, why?!"
"You have a Bar and went out?" Seth said mockingly.
"Here is more like a workplace for me," Jullian said with a nervous laugh.
"So where did you go?" Seth pressed.
Jullian hesitated. "A casino."
Seth paused for a second, then he narrowed his eyes. "Have you lost anything recently?"
"Yeah! My phone! How did you know?" Jullian replied immediately, surprised.
Seth understood what had happened. Their lead had met a dead end. That person probably used the man’s information as a cover.
"Nothing else strange?"
"No...."
"Okay, thank you for cooperating. If we have more questions, we will get in touch with you." Seth said and left the office.
Once outside and back in the military vehicle, Seth turned to his silent brother. "Leo..." he said gently. "Your saviour... he is no ordinary passerby. Are you still dead set on finding him? He had come to that hotel well prepared. He paid in cash, left no digital trail, and no CCTV footage. Maybe his involvement was not an accident, or this could have been part of something bigger."
Leo looked outside, deep in thought. "If he is a criminal, I don’t care."
Seth blinked. "What?"
"I don’t care," Leo repeated, eyes still fixed on the passing buildings. "I just... want to meet him. That’s all."
His voice trembled slightly, but there was no doubt in his gaze.
He had no name, no image, only a memory of pale hair, quiet hands and grumpy remarks, but Leo would find him, even if it meant chasing shadows
Because no matter who he was. Leo wished to see him again.
