From Villain to Virtual Sweetheart: The Fake Heir's Grand Scheme(BL)
Chapter 69: The Noble SugerPlumFairy Saves the Day

Chapter 69: The Noble SugerPlumFairy Saves the Day

It was well past midnight when the first noise shattered the silence. Micah’s head jerked up from where it rested against the side of the door. An echo of rapid footsteps resonated in the hallway. Then came the unmistakable sound of someone knocking on a door, not just knocking, but banging.

"Clara! Open up!" a voice shouted, clearly agitated. "Clara, are you in there?!"

Micah tilted his head, listening hard. Outside, the murmur of crowds grew louder and louder.

Then there was a loud gasp from the crowd.

Micah didn’t need to see it to know what had just happened. They found Clara, her manager, and Leo’s own manager, Hurt. He could hear the rapid-fire clicks of camera shutters.

Micah closed his eyes, exhaling slowly through his nose.

It was a good thing they had fled that room. The ruckus was even crazier than what was said in the novel. Probably his involvement in giving the key card had changed the chain of events.

After an hour, the noise from outside died down.

Micah stood up, sighing in relief. He walked to the sleeping beauty on the bed and scoffed.

"Seriously, what kind of horse tranquillizer did they use on you to sleep like a pig through all this shit?" Micah asked, jabbing a finger into Leo’s cheek.

Leo didn’t respond. No reaction. Not even a twitch on his face or a flutter of his eyelids.

Micah huffed, sitting cross-legged on the ground. He pulled out his phone, its screen lighting up his pale face. His fingers tapped rapidly as he searched for trending news.

At first, the headlines were vague, pointing at Leo being at the centre of some scandal. But as photos surfaced, the news shifted rapidly.

The images were offensive and raw. Clara and her manager were barely clothed, their eyes were glossy while Manager Hurt stood awkwardly naked in the middle.

Netizen 1: OMG! Did he lure these two women into Leo’s room intentionally?

Netizen 2: Yeah. Police confirmed Leo Mckay was not at the scene.

Netizen 3: Have you seen the hotel CCTV that was leaked? There was no sign of Leo entering the room at all.

Netizen 4: Apparently, Leo was heavily intoxicated. The manager had to drag him out of the warp party. But now he is missing.

Netizen 5: So, has the case shifted from assault to something else? Is he hiding Leo somewhere?!

Netizen 6: Regardless, Leo is innocent. Stop associating him with that beast.

Micah shook his head, lips curling into a smirk.

"You dodged a bullet this time," he said, glancing back at the unconscious Leo.

He had arranged for a hacker a long ago to wipe his presence from the CCTV footage. After rescuing Leo from that room, he made sure to have the part where the manager dragged Leo to the room edited too. Now, the cameras only showed three people entering Leo’s suite. Still, if any paparazzi or bystanders had caught them leaving Leo’s room, wiping the CCTV would have been useless. Thus, the stealthy ninja turtle exit he’d pulled off.

Ensuring there was no news about him entering Leo’s room, Micah switched to WeChat and opened the Majestic King chat group.

In the fan group, everyone was beside themselves.

KingRuleOverMe: What the hell? What happened at the hotel?!

HisMajestyMuffin: big sister, you were at the party... @LioNessQueen - TELL US!

Leo’sThirdConcubine: who is this bitch? Clara Davis? How dare she try to set up our Leo!

TheKing’marshmallow: what’s it with the manager Hurt? How could he do something like this?!

CozyLioness: Did he drug them? Why do the two women seem disoriented? Is this some kind of assault?

Leo’sFirstConcubine: oh my god! Really? Manager Hurt?! He couldn’t even meet your gaze for a moment!

LeoLuvsMe: where is our Leo? Didn’t they say it was his room?!

NumberOneKing’sFan: That Bastard! He was a wolf in sheep’s clothing!

KingFourthLioness: you are all in Isatis city, right?! Go to the hotel now! Tell me what’s going on?!

Leo’sFirstConcubine: wait! They said Leo was not there!

TheKing’smarshmallow: Hell yeah! Our clever Leo had escaped their clutches!

Micah chuckled, shaking from laughter. He was tempted to drop a message:

"Your king only escaped because of me, the noble SugerPlumFairy!"

But he restrained himself, just enjoying the chaos in the chat.

Behind him, the man on the bed stirred. Leo’s lashes fluttered faintly, barely noticeable. But Micah was too busy laughing at a meme someone had posted of Manager Hurt to notice.

Leo’s body was heavy, however, his mind was fully awake.

Ever since the stranger had yanked him from his manager’s grasp, Leo’s every sense had locked on him.

The stranger’s voice, sharp, sarcastic, yet oddly warm, lingered in his mind.

He heard every word the young man muttered under his breath. Even when Clara and her manager entered his suite, Leo instantly recognised their voices.

If it hadn’t been for this stranger, he would have surely been finished. With a contract of twenty years, being shunned by his fans and the public, he would be tossed aside, penniless. He wouldn’t have survived that, not mentally, not emotionally.

He had tried constantly to open his eyes, to catch a glimpse of the young man who had saved him. But his limbs were stone, his eyelids glued shut by the drug still numbing his system.

All he had to go on was that voice, bright, restless, full of bite. There had been moments that the young man had touched him, and Leo flinched internally, mortified, thinking finally he had shown his true colours. But no, the man had just been dressing him. Gently, albeit clumsily.

The most unbelievable part was when the man had carried him outside. The cold night breeze brushed his face. He was confused about what was happening. Then came the jump and the sharp shock of landing.

This young man was insane. That was Leo’s conclusion. Absolutely nuts!

Now, though, as his limbs began to tingle, he could feel the effect of the paralyzing drug wearing off. He cracked open his eyes slowly.

A dazzling head of snow-white hair. That was the first thing he saw. The young man sat crossed legs beside the bed, his back leaning against the frame, head tilted slightly forward. From this angle, Leo could only see the back of his head.

He tried to speak, making a noise. But his mouth was dry. He felt his mouth and throat were filled with sand. No sound came out. Just a painful rasp of air. But that tiny sound was drowned in the young man’s laughter.

The laugh was strangely musical.

Leo’s tension melted. Somehow, that laugh told him everything.

He knew he was safe now. All of his tense nerves relaxed. The young man had no interest in him. No hostility to harm him.

But with that came more questions. What was this man in his room? Why help him at all? Who would go through so much trouble for a stranger?

And why did it seem like the man couldn’t stand him?

He could detect from his tone of voice and his words that the young man was not looking at him favourably.

It was really strange.

Leo’s eyelids felt heavy again. His brain, knowing the danger was no longer imminent, released endorphins, causing his tense body to relax. Exhaustion quickly engulfed his mind.

As the sound of that voice still played in his head like a lullaby, Leo drifted into a deep sleep.
