Chapter 166: We Were Just Trying to Eat
At the end of the day, Micah finally dragged himself back to the dorm, yawning into his sleeve. Opening the door, he was greeted by Nick’s grinning face, way too excited for this hour.
"There you are! Took you long enough! Let’s go!"
Micah looked at him, puzzled. "Huh?"
Nick grabbed his arm, practically bouncing. "You forget? You said we could book a restaurant. Your treat!"
"Oh... right." Micah rubbed the side of his face. "Give me a second. I need to change," he dug his phone from his pocket and typed a quick message. "Right. I should tell Darcy too," Micah mumbled to himself as he typed.
Then he tossed his bag on the chair and kicked off his shoes before heading toward the closet.
Micah tugged his hoodie off and pulled a clean shirt over his head. "Where are we going?"
Eddie, lying on the floor and doing lazy sit-ups, answered between breaths. "It’s a new buffet restaurant opened recently a few blocks away."
"Ah, man! I wanted to go to that seafood place. But Emile scolded me, saying your stomach couldn’t handle it." Nick grumbled. "So, I picked this one."
"Yeah..." Micah sighed with a fair dramatic gasp. "Only Emile truly cares about me!"
"Shut up!" Eddie grabbed a pillow from the bed and threw it straight at his head. "Who was guarding you from those gossipy girls all this time? I had to glare at those beautiful girls all because of you!"
Micah ducked, laughing. "Don’t twist the facts. You were totally flirting with them. What glaring?"
"Ungrateful jerk! I should have charged you for bodyguard duty! With this amazing body of mine, if I actually turned on my charm, no one would notice your twiggy ass!"
"Yeah, yeah..." Micah rolled his eyes. "It was because of that no one even glanced at your way..."
"Why are you two bickering?! In the end, all those girls only cared about was Micah’s hot boyfriend," Emile said disdainfully.
The room fell into awkward silence.
That made all of them shut up.
A few minutes later, after everyone finished changing, the group walked out of the room and headed toward the dorm entrance. Just outside, they spotted a familiar figure leaning against a tree.
"Yo!" Micah raised a hand, smiling.
Darcy looked up at the sound of his voice. His gaze went from head to toe, then stopped on his face before his lips curled into a small smile. "Looks like some family time really agrees with you."
Micah laughed awkwardly. "Uh, yeah. Something like that..."
Looking down, he thought that wasn’t the case... it was probably all the food from Lin Heye’s restaurant. Or the acupuncture. Yeah, definitely that. It had nothing to do with Clyde, no matter what his brain tried to tell him. He ruthlessly denied Clyde’s effect on him.
"Let’s get moving! I’m famished!" Nick said excitedly.
They piled into two taxis and headed a few blocks down. When they got off, the group looked around. Nick was already halfway to the building when the others froze.
Micah stared at the place in disbelief. Neon lights lit up the front, and a catgirl in costume stood by the door, blowing kisses and mewing to welcome guests.
Micah sensed Darcy’s disapproval gaze on him. "I swear this wasn’t my idea!" he muttered quickly. Then he turned his head toward the culprit. "Are you sure this is a restaurant?"
Nick scratched the back of his head. "Hey! The website looked totally normal online! The dishes were so appetizing.... I didn’t know...," he paused seeing everyone except Eddie glaring at him.
Micah sighed. "Come on. I know a restaurant nearby. It’s just a bit fancy." he said and walked toward the main street with Darcy and Emile.
"Why can’t we try this one?!" Eddie asked. Nick nodded beside him.
Micah rubbed his forehead. But before he could say anything the two changed their expression. "Never mind. Let’s go" Nick said, already turning away from the neon nightmare.
The way Darcy shot them a look so sharp it could be sliced through glass, they felt they would be dead meat if they dragged Micah in there.
Hailing a taxi again, they arrived in front of an elegant restaurant. "Hmm...Not bad." Emile nodded in approval.
"Hm? How so?!" Nick asked curiously. From the outside, it seemed normal.
"This is a low-key place famous for its privacy. Most celebrities dine here." Emile explained.
"Wow! Maybe I’ll spot my goddess in here!" Eddie said with a grin.
"Which one?" Micah said, rolling his eyes.
"Let’s go! I don’t care who’s inside, as long as I get something delicious!" Nick said, marching toward the entrance.
But just as he reached the front door, a staff member stepped forward, bowing politely. "May I know your reservation name, sir?"
Nick paused and turned his head toward Micah. "Dude, this one is also a no-go."
Micah sighed and stepped past him. Being a Ramsy had its perks.
The staff’s eyes lit up with recognition the moment they saw Micah. "Right this way, young master. We’re glad to see you again."
Nick and Eddie’s jaws dropped in unison.
"What the hell?" Nick muttered. "Young master?"
Emile was the most relaxed one. He followed Micah inside. Darcy as usual had a calm expression.
Micah turned toward the two frozen at the door. "Come on!"
They were led into a private booth after the manager practically ran to greet Micah and bowed several times.
Inside the booth, Nick slapped Micah’s back with a loud thud. "Damn! I never pegged you for a rich young master!"
"Yeah, that was a total shock! We were treated like we were royalty!" Eddie added.
Micah smirked. "I like being a hidden boss!"
"You dog!" Eddie shoved Micah playfully. "I knew you were too smooth to be normal."
They all laughed and relaxed in their seats. The table was already set, and the staff moved quickly around them, serving water and setting down small dishes.
Darcy stood up, brushing his pants.
"Where are you going?" Micah glanced up.
"Washing my hands," Darcy said.
"Wait for me," Micah said. "I’ll come too."
They stepped out together and made their way down the hallway. "How’s your mum doing? And Nora?" Micah asked, not liking the silence between them. Darcy was too quiet today.
"Not bad. Mum was asking about you a lot. Nora got annoyed and accused her of forgetting us and preferring to have you as a son," Darcy said with a smile.
Micah tripped and laughed nervously. "It’s probably because I am so different from your other friends."
"Yeah. No one has ever helped us like you have." Darcy agreed.
Micah waved a hand. "You are exaggerating."
He smiled nonchalantly but inside he was panicking. Why was Flora asking about him? Did she suspect something?! Did she tell Darcy he looked like her?
He peeked at Darcy out of the corner of his eyes, but Darcy, except for being a bit more quiet, looked the same as before.
Micah didn’t know what to say anymore, so he stayed quiet.
After finishing his business, Micah stepped out and washed his hands. Drying his hands with a paper towel, Micah spotted Darcy leaning against the wall, outside the restroom. Micah took a step forward and opened his mouth to say something when his body froze.
His heart jumped into his throat.
Down the hallway, just a few steps away, a tall figure was walking toward Darcy, with broad shoulders, expensive clothes, and a face too cold to be beautiful.
Micah’s breath caught. Leo Mckay.
Micah’s eyes widened, and without thinking, he ducked behind the nearest pillar. His hands pressed flat against the wall as he peeked out cautiously.
What the fuck?! Why was he here?!
Leo stopped right in front of Darcy.
No! No! Did Leo recognise Darcy?! What the hell was he saying to him?!
