Chapter 156: How to Accidentally Melt an Ice Cube (Clyde Edition)

After breakfast, Micah stood up from the table and looked down at himself. The oversized hoodie drooped past his hips and sweatpants bunched around his ankles like he had borrowed clothes from a giant. He picked at the hoodie sleeve tugging it lightly. "I can’t go out wearing these..." he muttered, frowning.

Clyde shot him a look and said, "Don’t worry. I know how much you care about your looks. My assistant bought some clothes in your size."

Micah scratched the back of his head, embarrassed a bit, being see-through by Clyde. He sighed inwardly. Clyde probably thought of him as a shallow superficial person...

He bit his lip and looked away. "Thanks."

"I put them in the walk-in closet," Clyde added, standing up and taking their empty bowls to the sink.

Micah nodded quickly and got out of the kitchen. He followed the hallway Clyde had pointed toward and found the door. When he opened it, his eyes widened in surprise.

The walk-in closet was huge.

Floor-to-ceiling shelves lined the walls, packed neatly with business suits, shirts, jackets, coats, leather belts, and more shoes than Micah could count. On the far wall, a tall mirror stool with soft lighting glowed around its edges. A display rack held watches, sunglasses, and simple but tasteful accessories. The space looked like it came straight out of a luxury magazine.

"Damn..." Micah whispered, stepping inside slowly. He looked around, trying not to drool.

Then his eyes landed on a clean stack of clothes clearly set aside for him. He reached out and picked up the top piece. A pale cream-coloured, preppy-style casual sweater with basic long-sleeve and slightly loose knitwear. He flipped it to check the tag and nearly dropped it.

"Georgina?!" he yelped.

He held it higher. The label was unmistakable. Georgina M. His teacher. The Dean of Fashion Design! Known for her clean lines, smart tailoring, and secretive limited collections. Her clothes were not just fashion. They were treasures!

"What the fuck!" Micah exclaimed again, this time louder. His sparkly eyes bounced from piece to piece, soft wool slacks in a warm oatmeal colour, a slate-grey knit vest, pleated white trousers, and a dark overcoat. Each piece screamed custom, rare, and expensive.

He turned and bolted out of the closet, practically bouncing with excitement. "Clyde!" he yelled, running back toward the living room. "Why didn’t you tell me these were from Georgina’s? Ahh...! Do you know how hard it is to get her stuff? She only releases like five collections a year!"

Clyde turned his head from the sink, his lips stretched up slightly. Before he could say anything, Micah darted forward and threw his arms around him.

"Thank you!" Micah said brightly, squeezing him in a quick but enthusiastic hug. "Seriously, thank you! I love her designs!"

Clyde froze completely. His back stiffened, eyes wide. He wasn’t sure what to do. Micah’s warmth pressed into him, his scent lingering like honey from breakfast. Clyde’s hands hovered awkwardly in the air until Micah pulled away again, beaming.

"I’m gonna go change now!" Micah said, spinning around and rushing back down the hall.

On the other hand, Clyde stayed still like a statue. His arms slowly lowered back to his hips. He swallowed, throat dry.

What... just happened? Why did that felt like something more than just a thank-you?

His heart thudded a little too loud in his chest. He glanced down at his side, the spot where Micah had leaned against him. The warmth still lingered.

When was the last time someone hugged him like that?!

His hand rose almost instinctively, touching his lips, baffled. He felt... Weird. Not bad. Just... strange. Like something warm had cracked through the ice in his chest and was trying to melt its way in.

He reached for his phone and opened the group chat. The Prodigy Kid group chat had been full of noise last night. Lin Heye, of course, was the loudest.

And Clyde, unable to sleep, had read their texts out of boredom.

ShiningBoy: You’ve all lost the ace of gossip this year!

SeaLion: Don’t you have work to do?

MagicalSon: What is it this time? Did you catch Clyde kissing someone or something?!

ShiningBoy: Mason! How did you know?

MagicalSon: Wait... Did I guess right?!

GracefulGoddess: I bet the boy made the first move!

SeaLion: How can you believe him?! Lin Heye always spins nonsense!

ShiningBoy: I am hurt, Dylon! Is this what our friendship means to you?!

SeaLion: Who is your friend? See? You are delusional!

ShiningBoy: So mean! So cruel! Next time you visit, no food for you!

SeaLion: Wow! I’m devastated!

GracefulGoddess: Enough, Dylon! Lin Heye, spill! What’s going on with Clyde and the boy?

MagicalSon: Is this another fake rumour? I’m dragging Clyde here myself!

RiverBridge: There is no need for that. I’m here.

ShiningBoy: What! That fast? We should book you a urologist. I am worried he will leave you if you do not improve in that department.

MagicalSon: ???

GracefulGoddess: ???

SeaLion: ???

RiverBridge: Shut up, Lin Heye! Tomorrow I’ll show you who really has a problem!

ShiningBoy: Haha, chill! It was a joke! Seriously, what did you do with the boy?

RiverBridge: Nothing. He is asleep.

MagicalSon: You are not Clyde! Who are you?!

SeaLion: Wiat...are you actually in a relationship?!

GracefulGoddess: You move so fast! I like it! Tell me if you need anything.

RiverBridge: ???

GracefulGoddess: clothes, dummy! You dragged the boy home, do you have anything in his size?!

RiverBridge: No, he wore mine.

GracefulGoddess: Ahhhh... don’t tell me more! He is my student!

GracefulGoddess: I’ll send you some stuff over in the morning. Send me your address.

RiverBridge: Thanks.

ShiningBoy: Clyde! Are you becoming a sugar daddy?! The horror!

MagicalSon: We’re just side characters now?!

SeaLion: Who is this boy?! I want to see him!

Clyde had closed the chat after that, thinking they had all lost their minds.

But now, he opened it again and typed.

RiverBridge: Georgina, Thank you. He really liked it.

GracefulGoddess: Did you score?

ShiningBoy: Wow, such a sweet boy, he even likes the Witch of Oz’s designs.

GracefulGoddess: Watch it, Lin Heye! I won’t set you up with any of my colleagues if you keep running your mouth!

ShiningBoy: Sorry. You are the most beautiful woman in the world!

Clyde chuckled softly and turned off the screen. His gaze drifted to the hallway.

He found himself waiting, just a little, to see what Micah would look like in those clothes.
