Chapter 27: The Morning Commute

I stepped into the lobby and spotted Madison lingering by the front door. "Sweetie, how come you haven’t left yet?" I inquired, striding in her direction. "Well, Mom, the thing is, a driver took me to school yesterday, so I’m not really sure how to get there now," Madison admitted, meeting my gaze.

"Oh, I see, that’s quite the predicament. Let’s-" Before I could complete my thought, a hand landed on my shoulder, startling me. "No worries, ladies, I’ve got this," Damien announced from behind me as I whirled around, taken aback by his sudden proximity.

My heart raced as Damien’s hand lingered on my shoulder, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through my body. He smiled reassuringly and turned around, addressing Angela, who had materialized nearby. "Angela, please call one of my drivers to take Madison to school," he instructed, his voice calm and authoritative.

Angela nodded and swiftly made a call on her phone. Within moments, a sleek, dark luxury car glided to a stop at the entrance, its polished exterior gleaming in the morning light. The driver emerged and opened the rear door, gesturing for Madison to enter.

Damien leaned forward, his presence both comforting and overwhelming. "From today onward, this driver will be Madison’s personal chauffeur, so there’s no need to worry anymore," he said, his gentle smile causing my breath to hitch in my throat.

Madison’s eyes widened with excitement as she took in the luxurious vehicle waiting for her. She turned to me, her face lit up with joy. "Mom, this is incredible! I can’t believe I get my own driver!"

I struggled to find the right words, overwhelmed by Damien’s generosity and the surreal nature of the situation. "I... I don’t know what to say, Damien. This is too much, really," I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper.

Damien chuckled softly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Nonsense, Ella. It’s the least I can do to ensure Madison’s safety and comfort. Now, off you go, Madison. Have a wonderful day at school," he said, gently ushering her towards the waiting car.

Madison hugged me tightly before bounding over to the vehicle, her excitement palpable. As she settled into the plush leather seats, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of gratitude and unease. This was a world I had never experienced before, and the extravagance of it all left me feeling both thrilled and apprehensive.

Damien’s hand brushed against the small of my back as he guided me towards his own car, which was parked behind Madison’s. The brief contact sent a shiver down my spine, and I found myself leaning into his touch, craving more of the warmth and security he provided.

As Damien and I settled into his car, he signaled for the driver to head toward the office. With a subtle edge of encouragement in his voice, Damien murmured, "Today could be a pivotal moment for you," his words a hushed whisper as he deliberately closed the gap between us.

"Th... thanks," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

-- The summer heat pressed against the windows of Damien’s car as we made our way to Stone Enterprises. I shifted in my seat, feeling the fabric of my dress cling to my skin, my pulse quickening with each passing moment. Damien’s cologne filled the confined space, heightening my senses.

"This new role at the company will give you the chance to be bold, Ella," he said, his deep voice wrapping around me like a caress. My breath caught in my throat, and I felt his closeness, his thigh brushing against mine in the small space. "You know, I’ve been thinking about our encounter at the changing room," he continued, his eyes never leaving the road ahead.

My cheeks flushed, and I bit my lip, feeling the weight of his words. "R-really?" I managed, my voice coming out raspier than intended. The memory of him seeing me in that moment of vulnerability flitted through my mind, leaving me dizzy with desire.

"Mhm. There’s something irresistible about a confident woman, and you, Ella, are undoubtedly that. Especially in that dress," he said, his eyes raking over me with unconcealed hunger.

I swallowed, heat rushing through my body, a mix of anticipation and apprehension. "Damien—" I started, searching for the right words to convey the turmoil of emotions swirling within me.

Before I could finish, Damien’s hand covered mine, his touch both gentle and commanding. "You don’t need to say anything, Ella," he murmured, as the car drove into the parking garage of the massive office building. "I know you want this, want me, just as much as I do. And there’s no shame in it."

His words hung in the air, heavy with promise and desire. My thoughts swirled, battling between the professional boundaries that existed between us and the scorching tension that seemed to ignite whenever we were in close quarters.

His thumb moved in slow circles on the back of my hand, sending sparks of pleasure up my arm. I closed my eyes, my body leaning instinctively toward him, craving more of his touch. "Damien, I—" --

The car came to a gentle halt, snapping me out of my reverie. "We’ve arrived, sir," the driver announced, stepping out to open Damien’s door. "Ella?" Damien’s hands rested on my shoulders, his gaze searching mine.

Flustered, I realized my thoughts had wandered to places that now had me blushing. "Oh, yes, I’m fine," I assured him, eager to move past my embarrassment. "Let’s go."

I climbed out of the car, suddenly self-conscious as a flush crept up my neck. I turned away, hoping to mask the heat that suffused my cheeks, but Damien’s curious gaze followed me. I walked briskly towards the entrance, trying to ignore the slight bounce in my step.

"Ella, wait up!" Damien called out, his voice laced with a mixture of confusion and amusement. I slowed my pace, feeling his presence close behind me. "Is everything alright?" he asked, concern etching his brow as he studied me.

I swallowed the butterflies in my throat and flashed him a quick smile. "Yes, of course. It’s just..." I trailed off, uncertain how to explain the tumult of emotions swirling within me.

He arched a dark eyebrow, his expression expectant. I took a deep breath, searching for the right words. "Well, I suppose I’m just feeling a little nervous about starting this new role. It’s a big step, and I want to make sure I’m up to the challenge." I offered a weak smile, hoping to downplay the intense chemistry that had just crackled between us.

"Ah, I understand," Damien replied, his tone softening. "It’s only natural to feel a bit intimidated, but I have no doubt you’ll excel, Ella." He reached out and gently squeezed my shoulder, his gesture both reassuring and intimate. "Besides, I’ll be there to guide you through it all."

The warmth of his touch lingered even after he removed his hand. I nodded, doing my best to appear composed despite the maelstrom of emotions whirling inside me. "Thank you," I whispered, my voice thick with unspoken desires. "I should get going. Don’t want to keep the team waiting."

Damien chuckled, his eyes sparkling with mirth. "Right, of course. Let’s get this show on the road."

Together, we entered the majestic lobby of Stone Enterprises, our footsteps echoing off the gleaming marble floors. I drew in a deep breath, steeling myself for the day ahead.
