Chapter 15: The Old Master’s Approval, Daily Net Profit Breaks 10,000! Boss, Do You Need Another Daughter?!
“I’ve never had porridge this delicious in my life—holy cow!”
“Damn, I want another bowl.”
“Boss, your porridge is so fragrant it’s ruining my appetite for the buns!”
“Unbelievable, this porridge is perfect! The porridge of my dreams!”
A few elderly customers walked in, caught the aroma, and looked surprised. “Little Jiang, you’ve started making porridge now?”
“Yep, want to try some?”
An old woman shook her head. “Six yuan is too expensive. I could make a whole pot myself for that price.”
But one old man seemed intrigued. “The porridge looks well-made. I’ll take a bowl.”
“Sure thing.”
“Alright, and give me 10 chive-and-egg buns and 10 fennel-pork buns. Just put them on the tray—I’ll carry them myself.”
Jiang Feng arranged the buns and porridge, and the old man carried them to the table.
Sitting down, the old man inspected the porridge like a connoisseur, stirring it once before nodding.
“The rice isn’t overcooked—it should still have texture. This porridge is worth the price.”
He took a sip, and his eyes instantly lit up.
“Wow! This is really good!”
The other elderly customers grew curious. “Really? Old Liu, is it that good?”
“You’re pretty good at making porridge yourself—how does it compare?”
Back in the day, Old Liu had run a breakfast stall and was known for his porridge.
Old Liu put on a serious face. “No comparison. Boss Jiang’s porridge is way better than mine!”
“Then I’ll have a bowl too.”
“Little Jiang, pour me one as well!”
Soon, the elderly customers all wanted to try it. Jiang Feng served four bowls.
One of the women took a sip and nodded. “This really is good.”
“Delicious!”
“I need to take two bowls home for my grandson. This porridge is so well-made—it’s gotta be nutritious.”
“Boss Jiang is amazing. The porridge is sweet and fragrant, not greasy at all, and the flavor lingers!”
More and more customers arrived.
Once they saw Jiang Feng’s porridge, they all wanted a taste!
The porridge sold like crazy!
One bucket made about 500 bowls.
With less than 100 yuan in ingredients, he could sell it for 3,000 yuan!
At 12:15 PM, a group of high school girls from No. 47 High walked in.
“Wow, he really is handsome.”
“They weren’t lying—he’s way better-looking than our school’s heartthrob!”
“Even hotter than Teacher Zhou Dong!”
“Boss! Five beef buns and a bowl of porridge!”
“Same, but make mine fennel-pork!”
The girls ordered separately, but Jiang Feng remembered every single request, packing their buns and serving their porridge without a hitch.
“Wow, boss, you’re so smart! How do you remember all that?”
Jiang Feng chuckled. “Just average intelligence.”
“Pfft, so humble. If I had your memory, I wouldn’t have scored 18 on my math test.”
“Xixi, you realize scoring 18 isn’t just a memory problem, right?”
“Yeah, you’d need a whole new brain for that.”
The girls chatted as they sat down.
Since it was hot outside, they weren’t initially interested in porridge—but the smell won them over.
A few took a sip.
“Whoa! This is amazing!”
“Way better than my mom’s!”
“So fragrant!”
They gradually fell silent, focusing entirely on eating.
Who cared about chatting or ogling the handsome boss?
This porridge was life-changing!
The line outside grew longer.
Some customers, seeing no seats left, even stood outside holding their bowls and eating.
Cui Hao brought out some folding stools from his shop and placed them outside Jiang Feng’s store for the customers.
Soon, even the stools were full!
Other shop owners on the street watched with envy.
By 12:30 PM, Jiang Feng had sold all 1,600 buns.
The porridge bucket was empty too.
In just one morning, his revenue had reached 7,720 yuan!
At this rate, even after deducting rent, utilities, and other expenses, his daily net profit would easily surpass 10,000 yuan—possibly even approach 20,000!
“Sorry, everyone, we’re sold out. Come back in the afternoon.”
The customers were used to it by now.
If you wanted Jiang Feng’s buns and porridge, you had to fight for them. If you came late, you’d miss out.
“Ugh, I’m dying to try Boss Jiang’s porridge.”
“I’ll come back at 4 PM and line up early—no way I’m missing it.”
“Let’s go home and eat noodles instead.”
As the crowd dispersed, Jiang Feng started washing the bowls and utensils.
Washing dishes was a pain.
“I need to buy a dishwasher.”
“And a sterilizer cabinet too.”
Now that the shop was running, he realized how many things he still lacked.
The high school girls, now full, became lively again.
Burp. “That was so good.”
“I’m too stuffed to move. Let’s sit for a while before heading back.”
“Same, I’ve never eaten this much in one go.”
“Even Yannan ate so much—are you okay, little bird-stomach?”
“Yeah, just feeling like I’m about to float away.”
“Boss, you’re downright evil. If I eat here for half a month, I’ll gain 10 pounds!”
“Jiang-ge, do you need a wife? Or a daughter? I volunteer—just feed me every day.”
Jiang Feng laughed. “Not looking for either. Don’t try to scam free buns out of me.”
The girls giggled.
After resting for five minutes, they finally left—but not before cleaning their tables and bringing their bowls and plates back to Jiang Feng.
“Thanks.”
“No problem! See you tomorrow, Jiang-ge!”
Jiang Feng’s name had already spread.
After they left, he took two bowls of porridge and 15 buns next door.
“Cui-ge, here’s some food for you to try.”
Cui Hao grinned. “Finally! I’ve been drooling all morning. Your business is insane.”
Jiang Feng smiled. “Thanks for the stools. The shop would’ve been packed without them.”
Cui Hao waved it off. “Don’t mention it—just a small favor.”
Jiang Feng asked, “By the way, do you know anyone who sells dishwashers?”
Cui Hao thought for a moment. “Not offhand.”
His wife suddenly spoke up. “Isn’t Cui Yongjun in appliances? Ask him.”
“Oh, right!”
Cui Hao called his former army buddy and arranged for a dishwasher and sterilizer cabinet.
A Haier dishwasher and a Midea sterilizer—total 5,300 yuan, even cheaper than the official store prices.
“They’ll come install them this afternoon. Sound good?”
“Perfect. Thanks.”
“No need to thank me. Want some noodles?”
“Sure.”
Jiang Feng ate a bowl of pea-noodle pork noodles at Cui Hao’s shop. The flavor was average, but the price was fair, and the chili oil was fragrant.
Halfway through, his phone buzzed.
A message from Xu Na:
“Tomorrow’s Saturday. I’m taking Youyou out.”
