Chapter 949: The Path of Ying and Yang And The Path of Chaos (Part 5)

Ignoring her response, she continued muttering, "Too weak... The catastrophe approaches, and you’re hardly fit for the task."

"What catastrophe? Is it a disaster from devils, or something brought on by human cultivators themselves? Perhaps the calamity of mortality—the fall of the strong when they can’t ascend or achieve longevity?" she asked, one question after another.

The old lady’s expression remained unchanged, as if she were invisible.

"If you won’t answer, I’ll just leave," Amalia said resolutely, turning to walk away.

"You can’t leave," she finally replied.

"I’ve guarded this place for tens of thousands of years. You’re only the second human cultivator to enter here. If you can’t comprehend the Path of Chaos, this place will never let you go." The old lady smirked—a grim, unnatural expression, as though it had been millennia since the last time she smiled.

"So, if I can’t understand it in this lifetime, I’m will be stuck here forever?" Amalia’s eyes flashed coldly. She needed to reunite with Kenny Lin; if he found out she hadn’t exited, who knew what he might think.

But the old lady fell silent again, she just sitting cross-legged like a statue. Her chest showed no movement, no breath, leaving Amalia skeptical. She picked a direction and kept walking, determined to escape this graveyard.

An hour later, she found herself standing before the old lady once more, who sat motionless in front of a graveston with dust gathering on her. She glanced at the dull sky, void of sunlight, devoid of night or true daylight.

This was a world unto itself, with boundaries that blurred her perception and confined her. The old lady had not lied; she was trapped here. Had she known what the Path of Chaos entailed, with nothing but an old lady and an endless sea of gravestones as company, she might never have chosen this path.

Amalia walked back to the old lady. "You want me to comprehend the Path of Chaos, but there’s nothing here. How am I supposed to gain any insight?"

The old lady gave no reaction.

"Why did you call me a Chaos-type spiritual veins earlier? Do I truly have Chaos-type spiritual veins within me?" Amalia had her suspicions about some strange phenomena she occasionally noticed in herself.

"And who was that person you mentioned?"

"You’ve waited here for thousands of years and have only seen a second person enter. That means you have no choice but to rely on me, whether it’s to get out or for some other purpose."

The old lady remained silent, treating her as if she were air.

Amalia neither grew angry nor annoyed. She circled her once, then walked away without saying a word.

The old lady kept her eyes shut; if she didn’t know she was alive, she might have mistaken her for a corpse.

Realizing words were useless, Amalia gave up trying to speak with her. She had no idea what the Path of Chaos even was; how was she supposed to understand it? She decided to try other methods.

If she couldn’t go forward, backward, or sideways, then what about up?

Amalia flew high into the sky. The swirling sands blocked her view, so she extended her spiritual sense as far as it would go. The graveyard seemed boundless, and even when her senses reached their limit, she couldn’t touch its edge.

Returning to the ground, Amalia remained patient, circling the gravestones, leaving markings as she walked.

Meanwhile, Kenny Lin encountered someone on the Yin-Yang Path and finally learned about the origins of the Yin-Yang Pearl.

The Yin-Yang Pearl was a rare treasure from ancient times, a powerful immortal’s artifact with the power to reshape the world.

One yin, one yang—this was the Way. Two essences embodying the principles of yin and yang, as all things are bound by yin and yang; this is the Yin-Yang Path.

A small blade of grass swayed in the sunlight, full of life. Yet, in moments, it withered and decayed, dissolving into nothingness.

The powerful immortal created a world with seas, plains, mountains, birds, flowers, and even resilient life. This world went through birth, development, prosperity, decline, and finally destruction.

Once this vision concluded, the phantom vanished like sand in the wind.

Kenny Lin stood on a blade of grass that stubbornly broke through the cracks. The world before him seemed to rewind, vanishing rapidly, until he returned to the passageway, where a light awaited at the end.

He reached the light—a doorway, open and leading to a building with a pale sky above.

The structure wasn’t luxurious or refined. The walls crumbled at the edges, strewn with stones and dust, emitting a worn-out, desolate aura.

A cold wind swept through, sharp and bone-chilling.

The wind’s wailing passed through the stone walls, making a mournful sound.

Kenny Lin looked up at the plaque above the door, which read "Residence of the Immortal Lord Donghua," its colors faded by time, dull and lifeless.

"Weren’t we supposed to meet here after coming out?" he muttered as he stepped inside. The Immortal Lord Donghua had once been a leader among the immortals; his residence was vast, and despite damage from the great war, much of it remained intact.

In the grand hall, Kenny Lin found a stone tablet recounting the life of the Immortal Lord Donghua. He couldn’t tell if it was crafted before the war or if surviving immortals had preserved it afterward.

Just as he had guessed, Immortal Lord Donghua had once been a leader of Pangu Immortal Mountain. Naturally, his residence was not like any ordinary immortal’s dwelling.

Although Kenny Lin wasn’t interested in treasure hunting, Amalia enjoyed collecting these items, and her Soltice Ring was still not fully repaired. For her sake, he patiently searched around, stowing anything valuable he found into his storage space, regardless of what it was.

As he continued looting the Immortal Lord’s residence, more cultivators who had entered the other paths began to come out, one after another.

However, at the end of their paths, they didn’t find a legendary immortal residence.
