Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World
Chapter 929: The Weight of Strategy

Chapter 929: The Weight of Strategy

Every time, it ended in a battle of the strongest, and this time would be no exception. In fact, it would be even more intense.

In past years, there might have been four or five top-level disciples, but never as many as there were this time—nearly ten. Perhaps that’s one reason why the Part of All Immortals raised the number of tokens this year: with more exceptional disciples, the Part of All Immortals had to adjust.

With this in mind, everyone eagerly anticipated the coming clash of top-level disciples.

They hoped the top-level disciples would fight fiercely enough to wear each other down, so that by tomorrow’s entry into the Part of All Immortals, they might still be injured and give others a chance.

Jirandai Tang and his group understood Temujin Lei’s plan, but for now, they could only wait.

"Martial uncle, every faction is watching you closely. We have a plan to help you with this problem," Jirandai Tang said as he and the group approached.

"What’s the plan?" Kenny Lin asked casually.

With so many intense stares fixed on him, he seemed unfazed, while anyone else would have felt as if pierced by countless arrows.

Jirandai Tang admired his Martial uncle’s resilience and understood even more why Master Lian had chosen him as a disciple.

"You want us to give you the gold token, don’t you?" Amalia said, getting straight to the point.

"It’s not just us. Everyone wants that token, even those who want to challenge you. I know what you’re thinking: choosing to accept challenges from those at your level won’t really help, because in the end, you’ll still have to face the strongest."

They had discussed all possible strategies before approaching him.

"Isn’t there a rule that you can choose which challengers to accept? Are we forced to accept every challenge?" Amalia frowned.

"This world respects strength above all else, so having rules like this is pretty normal. But that’s only part of it; there’s an even more important reason," Jirandai Tang said, speaking seriously so they would understand the gravity of the situation.

Amalia listened closely. Clearly, there were things they didn’t fully know, though that wasn’t surprising, considering all the unexpected events this year.

"The tokens for entering the Part of All Immortals are actually most useful after we enter the Part of All Immortals..." Jirandai Tang began, and Amalia immediately understood.

"You’re saying that the tokens can still be taken even after entering the Path of All Immortals?"

Tokens from the Part of All Immortals can be refined, which makes them truly yours. However, if the owner dies, the token becomes free for the taking again. It’s a loophole, but one with a rationale behind it, Amalia reasoned, and she didn’t get too hung up on it.

"Exactly. This is why every major faction has an unspoken rule: don’t disrupt the balance between top-tier challengers, or you’ll be targeted by everyone and face being ambushed the moment you enter the Part of All Immortals."

"If you insist on guarding the gold token by yourself, the Green Lotus Sect could use up one of its three opportunities, but the remaining two would require you to guard it alone, facing challengers of the highest level."

Every sect or faction, regardless of how many people participate, gets only one chance to challenge their own members; once used, it can’t be used again.

"Interesting. For something like the Part of All Immortals, these rules feel overly complex. Wouldn’t it be simpler to just start the fights at the beginning or let everyone handle it inside?" Kenny Lin tossed two crystalline tokens in his hand, which weren’t pgold but still enough to catch attention.

Jirandai Tang could tell Kenny Lin wouldn’t be an easy one to convince.

"That’s impossible. Right from the start, no faction would agree to risk too many of its best within its own ranks. Inside the Part of All Immortals, that’s a different story," Taeseon Lei explained.

If it weren’t for the threat of the devils, the Mystic Void continent would likely be in even greater chaos, with sects clashing relentlessly. But with the looming devils threat constantly present, top figures step in to maintain some level of control.

"Taeseon Lei is right. Besides minimizing the losses, another purpose is to channel and pacify any negative feelings others might harbor," Jirandai Tang added.

"Anyone might feel resentful if they’re left out. If they can’t take action, they may start to imagine they have a chance to get one too. But without clear proof of absolute power, some would still be tempted to act, and when desire overcomes reason, things can spiral out of control. Seeing the disparity firsthand, however, usually makes reason win over greed," Seongwoo Jin added with a grin. "That’s just human nature."

It was like both a mental and physical blow, making most people give up in the end. The ones who wouldn’t... well, they were the top talents.

"Time is running out; have you made a decision?" Jirandai Tang asked earnestly.

They had already explained everything and hoped the two of them would understand.

"There’s one more thing: disciples who help will receive ten percent of the tokens. I hope you can understand," Eunbyeol Ling added quickly, worried they might overthink it.

"That’s reasonable," Amalia nodded. "Even close friends keep accounts, let alone sect members."

"So, what’s your answer?" Everyone looked at them.

Amalia turned her head to Kenny Lin. "Are you sure you can hold onto two tokens?"

Everyone looked surprised by the question. Did this even need asking?

Kenny Lin smirked, confidence radiating from him. "Why wouldn’t I?"

"Are you really sure?" Jirandai Tang asked seriously.

"We’re sure," Amalia answered for him. "He can guard two gold tokens. But we’ll still need your help. In return, we’ll split the other tokens among you as payment."

She held out her hand, and Kenny Lin handed her a large black token.

They had taken over twenty tokens from challengers who came near them.
