Chapter 916: Preparations and Surprises on the Journey to Ten Thousand Floating Island"
Given the Path of All Immortals’s dangers and complexities, being in a group also offered more support.
Amalia and Kenny Lin didn’t join in the conversations. They picked a corner, where Amalia closed her eyes to meditate.
She was at the peak of the Nascent Soul stage, and if she could break through before they reached Ten Thousand Floating Island, it would be good.
"Twenty days is too short to expect a breakthrough," some noticed the flow of spiritual energy around the flying boat and realized Amalia was training.
"Senior Brother Chang, why did the sect agree to let martial aunt join the Path of All Immortals if her cultivation level is so low?"
Renshu Chang, not wanting to disturb Amalia’s training, stood with his Junior Brother Hsu, who asked the question with a hint of curiosity.
"Do you really think her level is low?" Renshu Chang responded with a smile.
Both Junior Brother Hsu and Senior Brother Dai were at the middle of the Soul Formation stage—not the highest, but certainly not low. To them, the Nascent Soul Peak stage was indeed considered low.
After a pause, Senior Brother Dai bluntly replied, "Yes, it’s pretty low. If she tries to compete for the tokens, she’ll probably get taken down by the other top disciples right away."
Junior Brother Hsu didn’t say it out loud, but he likely agreed with him.
Renshu Chang chuckled, "Do you know what martial aunt’s cultivation level was five months ago?"
Both of them shook their heads; they’d never paid attention to someone with a level so much lower than theirs, and they hardly ever saw her.
"She was at the peak of the Golden Core stage."
Renshu Chang didn’t lower his voice, wanting them to know that Amalia’s talent was comparable to any of the top disciples.
The entire boat fell silent; even the wind outside the shield seemed to disappear.
"Senior Brother Chang, are you kidding? It’s been less than half a year. How could she go from the peak of the Golden Core stage to the peak of the Nascent Soul stage?" Senior Brother Dai chuckled awkwardly.
"That kind of speed is impossible without some kind of help. I’ve never heard of any top disciple achieving it," he added.
"Did she use some method to quickly increase her cultivation level?" The more he thought about it, the more Senior Brother Dai was convinced.
Renshu Chang shook his head, amused. "She soaked in a top-level spiritual spring for a month, then trained intensely for a few months."
"That’s impressive. Even with a whole month in a spiritual spring, the level increase would still be limited," Junior Brother Hsu finally understood why Senior Tian Wuya chose her as her disciple and not him.
It had taken him years to progress from the peak of the Golden Core stage to the peak of the Nascent Soul stage.
"If I get a chance, I’d like to spar with her. Since we both use blades, I want to see her blade skills," Junior Brother Hsu said, his eyes shining with excitement.
"That’s the right attitude," Renshu Chang encouraged him, glad to see him eager for a challenge. In truth, he doubted Junior Brother Hsu’s blade technique was as powerful as Amalia’s.
During the Double Cavern Secret Realm, Amalia’s blade technique was already impressive, and after four months of intense training with Senior Tian Wuya, who knew how much stronger she’d become? Renshu Chang sensed that both she and Kenny Lin had grown a lot.
While others said nothing, they took note of this in their minds.
Amalia could tell that others were underestimating her, but she understood why. Her cultivation level was indeed low compared to the others at the Soul Formation stage.
With twenty days left, she wanted to see if she could break through before they arrived at Ten Thousand Floating Island.
"She wants to break through before reaching Ten Thousand Floating Island, but it might be better to wait until the Path of All Immortals opens for the first time," Jirandai Tang joined Renshu Chang.
"Senior Brother?" Renshu Chang looked at him, surprised.
"When the Path of All Immortals opens, there’ll be a brief surge of spiritual mist that was ideal for breakthroughs. It starts out dense but fades quickly, so using it right away is best," Jirandai Tang explained.
"I see... So you’re saying the initial mist could help as a breakthrough trigger?"
"Exactly. Timing it with the mist would be most effective," Jirandai Tang nodded.
"But if she waits for that moment, she might miss out on the chance to compete for the tokens," Renshu Chang said thoughtfully. "With her talent, she can break through whenever she has time. Giving up the opportunity to compete for tokens wouldn’t be worth it."
Jirandai Tang was slightly taken aback, seeing his junior brother’s certainty. "She lacks time, but time won’t wait for her. So she may have to seize this chance."
"Let’s wait and see. I don’t think she’ll do it," Renshu Chang said. Based on what he knew of Amalia, she wouldn’t.
Jirandai Tang said nothing more; each person has their own choices, and what seems good to one may not appeal to another.
The flying boat gradually grew quieter, and after chatting, everyone closed their eyes, either resting or training.
The boat moved forward on the elders’ and peak masters’ spiritual power, ensuring they’d arrive at the Ten Thousand Floating Island before Path of All Immortals opened. Fortunately, the boat’s barrier, set by Peak Master Bomen, contained a spirit-gathering array, allowing everyone to train on the journey instead of growing bored.
After about ten days, most people found themselves unable to keep training.
It wasn’t because they were close to the Ten Thousand Floating Island, but because, despite ten days of cultivation, they’d absorbed only a minimal amount of spiritual energy, with almost no impact on their levels.
Eunbyeol Ling also opened her eyes from meditation, her gaze settling on Amalia in the corner. Upon closer observation, it became clear that Amalia was absorbing most of the spiritual energy from the flying boat.
