Chapter 878: Confrontation and Retreat

Dalamadur’s face darkened. In a sinister tone, it said, "And what if I refuse to give an explanation?"

"Then we fight!" Tan Kai roared, full of dominance. The powerful aura surrounding him intensified, pressing down on Dalamadur. One wrong move, and Tan Kai would show no mercy.

"Fine!" Dalamadur glared hatefully at Tan Kai, its aura stirring with restless energy.

Tan Kai’s expression remained unchanged, but the pressure from his aura grew even stronger.

The air seemed to distort under the tension, flickering with sparks that were easily visible in the darkness.

"Dalamadur, you cannot defeat him." A deep voice suddenly echoed from the distant Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain.

A voice came from Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain, carrying a powerful and terrifying presence. Even from hundreds of miles away, it made everyone’s hearts race and their eyelids twitch.

Dalamadur broke into a cold sweat immediately. He knew who that voice belonged to—Scolocade, a powerful demonic beast of Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain, who was even stronger than him. The fact that Scolocade had spoken meant that Dalamadur was no match for Tan Kai.

Just moments ago, he had taunted Tan Kai. If Scolocade hadn’t spoken up, it was highly likely that a fight would have broken out in the next second. And if he died, Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain wouldn’t stand up for him.

No one expected that a small battle for the Pixiu would draw out a powerful demonic beast from Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain. Most of the people present were at the Nascent Soul stage and barely dared to breathe.

The fact that the voice could be heard from hundreds of miles away meant that the devil could probably kill them from that distance too. The only person who remained calm was Tan Kai.

"Next time, keep your beasts from Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain under control. If they cross paths with the Green Lotus Sect again, we won’t let them off so easily," Tan Kai said.

"You were the ones who disturbed the peace of this valley first. Don’t let it happen again," the voice replied. After saying that, the oppressive presence vanished, leaving everyone relieved.

Dalamadur didn’t dare stay any longer. As soon as Tan Kai spoke, he quietly slipped away.

As for the Pixiu, after being blocked by Amalia and Kenny Lin, it had disappeared without a trace. Even if Dalamadur chased after it now, it would be impossible to find. With the Pixiu’s intelligence, it had likely already escaped far away, possibly even out of the valley.

At the same time, the Monarch-level Devil, who had retreated to the edge of the valley, sensed the powerful auras of Tan Kai and Scolocade. He felt fortunate that he hadn’t fought Dalamadur earlier, or those two would have noticed him. The devil’s plan was already halfway complete, and being discovered would have ruined everything.

"My lord, we’ve suffered heavy losses," said Forvach, after counting the remaining devil soldiers. His face was grim as he reported to the Monarch-level Devil. The Monarch-level Devil glanced over the troops and knew exactly how many had fallen. Out of the four generals he had brought, only Forvach and Micos remained; two had died.

The lower-ranked devils had also suffered greatly, and their forces were significantly reduced.

"Has our plan been discovered?" the Monarch-level Devil asked in a deep voice.

"I don’t think so. The humans seem to be acting normally, so it’s unlikely they’ve figured it out. Even if they have, we still have room to adjust our strategy," Forvach replied. They hadn’t expected the plan to go perfectly from the start and had prepared backup options.

The Monarch-level Devil nodded slightly and said firmly, "With so many losses, the plan cannot fail."

Forvach and Micos gritted their teeth. "Rest assured, my lord. We won’t let the plan go wrong. It’s a shame about the Green Lotus Sect, though."

"The Green Lotus Sect," the Monarch-level Devil muttered, narrowing his eyes. "If I remember correctly, Romdusceul has been causing trouble with them and wanted to get revenge for his son?"

"Yes, my lord. But it’s said that it still isn’t sure if it was a disciple from the Green Lotus Sect who killed his son. Romdusceul might just be looking for a scapegoat," Forvach replied.

The Monarch-level Devil thought for a moment. "It’s unfortunate. If we had more time and hadn’t run into these complications, we could’ve used him to our advantage. But now that the hidden experts from the Green Lotus Sect have shown up, there’s not much we can do. Retreat. There’s no need to linger here."

"My lord, there’s one more thing," Micos said suddenly.

"What is it?" the Monarch-level Devil asked.

"The humans aren’t chasing the Pixiu anymore. Instead, they’ve turned to attack us. I suspect there’s something wrong. From the information we’ve gathered, it seems the humans have a special way of tracking the Pixiu," Micos explained.

Forvach also said, "I remember Jahool and the others once mentioned that they were suddenly attacked, but the attackers quickly retreated. They only suffered minor injuries and didn’t think much of it because of our plans. However, later, both of them ended up being killed by humans."

The Monarch-level Devil’s eyes turned cold and thoughtful. "You suspect that the ones who attacked Jahool and the others had planned their deaths?"

"I do suspect it. Based on various clues, it’s very likely that Pixiu was involved. The ones who attacked them were at the Nascent Soul stage, but it’s unclear if the humans were involved," Micos said, as he and Forvach had already discussed this when they returned.

"Investigate this. I want to know who’s behind this. If it really was the humans, Jahool and the others’ deaths won’t be forgotten." The Monarch-level Devil spoke coldly and left with his black robe flowing behind him.

"Yes, my lord."

The Pixiu had vanished, and Dalamadur had also fled quietly. It seemed Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain was starting to stir.

Aside from the Green Lotus Sect, none of the other sects had sent elders at the Body Integration stage.
