Chapter 839: Crazy Conspiracy (Part 4)
The aura surrounding him was deep and mysterious, beyond Yuji’s comprehension.
Yuji felt a slight tremor in his heart.
This elderly man was most likely a cultivator at the Nascent Soul stage, or perhaps even higher.
Despite having served in the City Lord’s Mansion of Harmonywood City for many years, Yuji had never seen this person before.
"Miss," the old man greeted Hana Yun with a slight bow.
"This is Elder Gu, one of my father’s most trusted aides. He has spent the past several decades on the devil battlefield and has only recently returned. It’s normal that you haven’t seen him before," Hana Yun explained casually, as if she had anticipated Yuji’s thoughts.
To win the loyalty of a powerful subordinate, one must not act overly superior.
Some things must be shared openly, or the person might feel undervalued.
Hana Yun had long mastered this lesson from her father, the City Lord of Harmonywood City.
In a show of respect, Yuji introduced himself. "Yuji greets Elder Gu."
Understanding that Miss Hana Yun intended to cultivate this subordinate’s loyalty, Elder Gu acknowledged Yuji with a nod before turning to ask, "Miss, is our target within the Skyward City Lord’s Mansion? What would you have me do?"
Hana Yun laughed coldly. "Elder Gu, you are our trump card. Don’t make your move just yet. The real show is about to begin. I want to see what cards my dear uncle still has to play."
Moments later, the streets of Skyward City rang with the sound of a massive explosion coming from the direction of the City Lord’s Mansion.
"Hana Yun, you’ve gone too far! On my territory, you openly challenge the authority of the Skyward City Lord’s Mansion?" Sehyun Wang appeared, her face livid as she saw that a pavilion had been destroyed.
That pavilion was part of the guest quarters of the City Lord’s Mansion, reserved for hosting important visitors.
Amalia and Kenny Lin were staying there, and Hana Yun had actually dared to destroy it!
"I don’t have the patience to wait any longer. Since they don’t dare come out, I’ll just go in and find them by myself," Hana Yun said arrogantly while raising her chin high.
"How outrageous! Yuri!" Sehyun Wang shouted, her fury evident on the surface, but deep down, she remained cautious—this behavior was unlike Hana Yun’s usual style.
Yuri immediately flew into the air, her aura of a Soul Formation cultivator erupting in full force.
Yuji swiftly moved in front of Hana Yun.
"Get out of the way, or don’t blame me for being rude!" Yuri said with a grim expression.
"Your cultivation is only equal to mine. You’re not qualified to shout at me," Yuji said coldly.
Just then, a black sword light suddenly shot out from the collapsed building.
Its target wasn’t Yuji, but the arrogant Hana Yun.
"Miss, watch out!" Yuji initially thought the attack was aimed at him, but by the time he realized otherwise and tried to rush to Hana Yun’s aid, he was blocked by Yuri.
He roared furiously, "Move!"
"You’re not qualified to shout at me either," Yuri immediately threw his words back at him.
With Elder Gu secretly protecting her, Hana Yun had no concern about such a small threat.
The guard at her side immediately charged forward.
The guard was very confident and attempted to block the sword, but he underestimated the opponent.
The sword energy pierced through his chest, and blood splattered right onto the hem of Hana Yun’s gown.
"Aaaah!" Hana Yun screamed—not because her guard was killed in a single blow.
"My favorite dress! How dare you stain my clothes!"
Her eyes turned red as she glared at Kenny Lin, who flew out of the rubble with Amalia at his side, both unharmed.
"You’re dead," Kenny Lin said coldly, his face expressionless.
He had initially planned to wait for reinforcements before making his move, but now he didn’t want to wait any longer.
This woman had dared to attack them.
Kenny Lin became even calmer when he got angry.
Hana Yun let out a laugh, enraged herself. "I’m dead? You still dare spout such nonsense at the brink of death? I’ve changed my mind—I won’t kill you. Instead, I’ll make you my furnace, day and night. You’ll beg for death but won’t be able to die."
"Hana Yun, you’re absolutely disgusting! Don’t you have enough concubines in your mansion?" Sehyun Wang shouted in disgust.
The thing she hated most about Hana Yun was how this woman captured so many people, not because she was truly enamored by their looks, but because she used them for dual cultivation to drain their essence.
She turned them into her personal furnaces to enhance her own power.
And now, this vile woman had set her sights on Sehyun Wang’s beloved.
The thought made Sehyun Wang’s stomach turn with revulsion.
"Who would complain about having more furnaces, especially when these two people look like they’re of decent quality," Hana Yun said deliberately, her gaze dripping with lust as she stared at Kenny Lin and Amalia.
"When people seek death, nothing can stop them," Amalia suddenly remarked.
Hana Yun shot her a glance, sneering, "Are you talking about yourselves?"
"No, I’m talking about you. You’re so eager to make a move—there must be something else you’re after," Amalia replied, her expression cold and unreadable.
Few things could truly anger Amalia nowadays, but Hana Yun had managed to do it.
The fact that she had enraged someone like Amalia to the point of stoicism was, in itself, an impressive feat.
Sehyun Wang was startled. "What else could she be after? Is it possible she’s targeting you both to actually go after me?"
"Where is the Lord of Skyward City right now?" Amalia suddenly asked.
Sehyun Wang hesitated for a moment before responding, "My father should be at the devil battlefield right now."
"Exactly. Out of all times, why choose now—when the City Lord is at the devil battlefield? The real target must be the City Lord, or perhaps to probe the strengths and weaknesses of the City Lord’s mansion."
